Great project! My only critique would have been recess the magnets, otherwise you do loss some cutting height. Since the magnets are at least 1/4 to 3/8 in in height.
Great job Jack. That's a really good poor man's scroll/band saw. It's an easy design that can be done with just a jigsaw and a drill. Thanks for sharing and God bless

I have build such a table in the 80s. But your fixing of the saw with this magnets is cleverer. I have to look for a used one jigsaw, to build a new table for cutting metall. Good work and inspiration!
Enjoyed the video, very clear instructions. I made one myself but made it universal as I recently bought the Rockler Trim Router Table and can mount that on the box when not using the jigsaw. I used battens underneath both tables and thumb screws to secure to the box. I did try to recess the magnets, however, even with my smallest screws they started coming through the plywood, I was using 11mm ply. Because of that when removing the jigsaw the magnets came away from the base! A relocation of the magnets solved the problem!
I know these things are very popular now but I'm still not crazy about these inverted jigsaws. Oh well... Either way your vids are always a treat and an education Jack. Thanks so much for taking the time!
Why don't you like them? I just ask because my experience is that the inverted table makes the jigsaw a much more precise tool. While they are rough to use vs. a bandsaw or a scrollsaw, they are also far cheaper and more accessible.
I one of these like a small table saw 24" x 24" and I love it it's just right for a lot o small jobs to dangerous on the table saw. I hate scroll saws with a passion I highly recommend this build . Mine is on its own stand and has a 3/4" angle rail

What a brilliant idea! Perhaps it is time to add a t track and fence. In some sense it will perfect for the woodwork beginners, as it is much safer than a table saw. Virtually no dangerous kick back and much cheaper than a table saw.
Great idea, I really like this! It would be be a useful addition for anyone with a small workspace or on a limited budget. Have you considered adding a miter slot? Make it much easier to control and allow for cutting, well, miters. (Also: if you recess the magnets you get a bit more cutting capacity)

Thought it was for the pocket not the wall. I can't imagine having that thing in my pocket. Shop apron pocket maybe. Shirt or pants pocket, no way! What do you do if your circle requires less than a half or full revolution?
I don't want to be insensitive, but I have been wondering this for a while; Why are his fingers curved like that? Love the idea by the way, Great job as always.
Simple and effecient, I like it. But I cannot shake off the Idea of cutting fingers off accidentally; I once did cut myself with jigsaw and I have a small child now, and those two factors combined make me sweat bullets. Is there any way to make this safer?

In my experience, jigsaws don't work very with a fence or mitre gauge because the blade cuts off line.
