Just wanted to say I love all your videos Robbie. You are very talented. I'm trying to be like you, Carl, Mike, and Brendan. You guys are awesome wood turners.
love the way the way the grain looks. interesting shape with the cowl collar. I just split up a BUNCH of Bradford pear branches (tree trimmings, now firewood ) that would have been great for this so I'll let the Arborist know I want some more! Cant wait to try this!
Beautiful work Robbie, the vase looks gorgeous. You needed all the tools you could lay your hands on to get under that rim, had me on the edge of my seat. Happy New Year mate Mike
You say you are prepared to try anything. I think you can do anything, particularly with a lathe. You have great ideas and the skill to carry them out. Please keep teaching us lesser mortals. Happy New Year.
You are truly a master turner. Thank You for teaching and sharing. I look forward to your next wood or vegetable project. Maybe a pen out of a carrot or turnip ?
Great vase Robbie, I'm going to try to make a scrapper tool like that. Thank for sharing! Mark PS wait till Brendan hears your talking to wood ohhhhhh your going to be in trouble!
Thanks again, Robbie..beautiful design and workmanship. Cannot find any yew around here large enough to work with.....most are shrub sized. Any problem with the pith cracking or is this a very tight grain wood? Gonna have to try this!! .
Hi Robbie, Nice video. How many times it has happened that has slipped you the Hollow tool at the beginning? :-) The vase but it looks great. Änderungen rückgängig machen
Fantastic vase Robbie, but just you wait until Brendan her's your comment on "the wood talking" oohhh! very controversial Lol BRENDAN GUESS WHAT ROBBIE SAID! All the best Tony
muito bonito o vaso Robbie, muito instrutivo seus vídeo vejo sempre que posso a madeira que você torneou é verde o que faz para não rachar e que produto passou no vaso desde já obrigado...
Lovely piece Robbie, nice flowing movement in the neck / collar of the vase. I LL be Tring that design in the new year. How do you make that scraping tool out of the flat drill bit? On a grinder? Do you need to heat treat the cutting edge? Thanks for sharing. Darragh
Hello Robbie, Thank you for another superb piece of turning. Thanks to your recent video on making the natural edge yew vase I successfully made my first natural edge turning. I was like a cat with two tails. Best wishes, Alan. P.S. Brendan (Baconsoda) is still working on an off-centre potato:-).
Robbie, That's a really nice vase. I just cut down a pear tree and have a bunch of pieces about that size. i'm gonna have to try it. Do you worry about the toxicity of Yew? Have you ever experienced any adverse reaction to it. The lists I've seen on wood toxicity list Yew as severe.
Hi Robbie As a newcomer (started in December 2014) I am looking to purchase some deep hollowing tools I have been told the the Kelton McNoughton set of 3 hollowing tools are very good as they do not tend to grab,(one of my problems dig in's). Have you used them and what do you think of them?
Paul Lewis Hi i haven't used the Kelton McNaughton hollowing tools can't say. they are scraper tools not cutting like any scraper and can give a catch here's a link to the crown tool i am thinking of investing in one ua-cam.com/video/Hfi3wdYaBRA/v-deo.html
Top Job Robbie Great video thanks [looking at Brendans potato reveal he may be struggling to find one big enough to put on the lathe LOL] Take Care Harry
I noticed you have a shake, in your hands. I've just started turning and was worried about my shaking and what effect it would have on my work. I also was concerned about my hands getting tried. Any pointers would be welcomed. Thanks for a great video.
Jim Skaggs it can be hard to turn smoothly when shaking trying to control the tool and the shakes only say don't let it stop you turning i try to lock the tools in to my side and use my body to move the tool. yes my hands get sore and i take a brake. some days it can be frustrating so i just leave it alone keep taking my pills helps LOL
What happens to Robbie the Wood Turner? He has not put out a video in quite some time and I sense he has some health issues by the shake I see in his hands. Robbie is such a good teacher and well natured fellow. I hope he is doing ok nowadays in 2020.
