When you ruffle turn the tension all the way up! Creates the ruffles automatically with the long stitch length...saved me so much time since I started doing this
ah it came out so beautiful !
Thank you Alexa ❤❤😊
That fabric is gorgeous! Love the design of this dress, and the pink underskirt did go so well with the main fabric! Videos like this inspire my newbie sewing skills so much!!
the fabric is adorable
I hope you find something similar! Hope you get to try this out ❤
What a great boyfriend. Back in 1985 my boyfriend surprised me by paying off the last lay-away payment on a machine I was buying. We will celebrate our 34th anniversary in April. 😸 I had that machine until last year when I gave it to a nice lady who needed it. We have to share the fun of sewing!
Check online! I know it’s not the same as in person, but def worth a look. Maybe even thrift some? Use unconventional things too! Blankets, sheets, curtains etc
I like having the ruffle another colour! It looks super cute!!!
It turned out so beautiful and that fabric is gorgeous. I see you have a Janome (like me) you can get an invisible zipper foot. It unrolls the zipper for you and sews really close to the zipper teeth so no more struggling and its soo easy. Definitely invest in one, they're only like $30 and a complete game changer.
If you put your sewing machine on a long stitch length with a high tension it gathers the fabric without the need for a gathering foot! And you can adjust the gathers after the fact, which you can't with a gathering foot.
You look so gorgeous 😢🥺 worth every pinprick
This women is so amazing
That dress is a stunner. 😍😍😍
Wowowow the end result was honestly mind-blowing the way the sleeves fall on itself so perfect! You did an amazing job you put in so much effort you spent hours doing this thank you for a great video.
Thank you so much ❤❤
Ugh you look so cute in that dress!
I remember when you made that outfit that you were in the video out of tea towels and I was in awe on how creative and cute it was.
It's gorgeous. Can't imagine doing that amount of work....
This tutorial is so easy to follow! I love the part where you draw out all your patterns, it's extremely helpful!!
The pink fabric goes so well with the floral fabric 😍
This turned out sooo well omg!! I'm OBSESSED with the pink ruffles peeking out from the underskirt 😍😍
Thats lovely! The contrast ruffle really lifts it. Fabulous length too. Great job there.
This is INCREDIBLE!
Wow it's beautiful as usual 😳🥰
I love this style of dress. So pretty. Very clever ❤️
Thank you so much for being so clear with the explanation of the pattern! I am a beginner at sewing so I have next to no knowledge about pattern drafting. It makes it challenging to make my own clothes, because I'm plus size with a small bust so "standard" pattern sizes don't tend to fit me well. Your explanation of how to make the bodice was AMAZING and now I feel fairly confident to attempt to make a dress like this for myself!
I love this dress so much!
(invisible) Zippers - I was watching another creater make a simple dress that needed a zip. To get as close as she could, she ironed the teeth out of the way to get a super clean, tight seam (ua-cam.com/video/j9EomeqPzsY/v-deo.html / Timestamp -13:00). I'm yet to try this myself, but it looks as though it makes the task a hell of a lot easier to get that professional finish.
For regular zips (specially on dificult fabric), I myself cheat and use double sided tape. This helps me not only keep everything straight so the fabric doesn't streach underneeth creating a wabbly/bumpy finish, but it helps keep everthing in line - night and even, specially on those important places like the very top and bust/waist lines.
** Just be sure to clean the needle with rubbing alcohol when you're done so you don't gum up your machine or ruin the fabric **
Hope that helps 🥰
You need an invisible zipper foot and ironing it flat first does help, and ruffler foot too. Such a happy look on you face! Love the swirling+++
“This is too much maths for me”…this was my exact thought a few minutes in as soon as I saw the Pi symbol! At 35 I’ve finally discovered the relevance of Pi to my life. The dress looks amazing, well done!
this is the most gorgeous thing ive ever seen OH MY GOD
Thank you 🥺🥺
you can roll the zipper teeth open, ( push the teeth with your finger or nail opposite of your sewing needle it should expose some space for your needle to sew closer to your zipper teeth) i hope this helps !
Wow, the dress looks absolutely amazing on you!😍✨ I love the fabric, the colours suit you really well🥰💕
This is my first time watching you , at last a channel that's easy to watch & I could understand what you were doing. The dress is beautiful & I admire you so much for taking on that much fabric ruffles. it was so worth it , you look beautiful in it. I'm now a fan & look forward to watching you again. much love ❤. xxx

THANK YOU!!!❤
So beautiful!!

Beautifully done.. I love the kind of fabrics and design you come up with.. Need to try this very soon
Sharonnnnn, I just wanted to let you know that I come to this video every so often to feel happy so thank you for making it ❤️❤️❤️
You did such a good job! I love the fabric you picked!
SO PRETTY 😭✨
what a beautiful dress!!! so foofy and swirly! j'adore!
Notification gang 💕
I’m living for these princess dresses 😌 can’t wait to try it out 🔥✨
That fabric is pretty on it's own but you've made it gorgeous! A beautiful dress and the complementary colour trim only enhances the overall look, great choice.
Love seeing the tea towel top in action too!!
Hehe thank youuuuu ❤❤❤
I think your original selkie DIY video was what inspired me to finally be trying to make my own selkie style dress now!!! Also, the fabric you picked catches the light so well I legitimately sighed when you started cutting it.
The final piece is amazing!!
So pretty!!
It looks incredible! The zipper looks great too. I hate doing them as well so I usually avoid it, which means I still suck at putting them in haha. I like the rolled hem finish, I think for that kind of fabric it works well.
i love how it turned out! The mauve underskirt was a good choice! it gives a nice pop! and the movement of the skirt LOVE
it looks great! well done!
Thank you for the detailed explanation of your bodice pattern!! my brain has such a hard time thinking in 3D- also that mauve ruffle was SUCH a lovely choice! 🌷
Thank you Julieeeee 😊❤
I adore this dress, it’s totally stunning ❤❤
That color is fantastic on you!
I salute every fashion designers and tailor, that math at the start of the vid effed my brain 😭
beautiful dress, love it
So so so beautiful 😍 💖 ❤
You can baste stitch on a zipper before you sew with a machine
I always have to do at least 2 rows to get the invisible zipper to look right. I don’t like them much because they are hard to zip where there is any bulk. In order to improve your skill you just need to do a lot of zippers. Take some waste fabric, sew with a longer stitch and install and uninstall until you feel proficient. It looks very good, and that slight shifting is hard to avoid. 😸
WOW this dress almost made me cry for some reason omg it looks amazing!! sooo elegant
what a lovely outcome. I'm sorry it was messing up your time planning but the result is fantastic, hands down!
Gorgeous ❤️
Love it! I’ve been looking for a tutorial in making this dress ❤️
My boyfriend had bought me a sewing machine. I made a short selkie puff dress. I am waiting for a nice day and take some photos with it. Guess who inspired me start sewing. That's you. Thank you so muchhh. I'm really enjoy my new passion. 💗💗💗
Awh this is so sweet, thank you for sharing that with me 😊❤
@@halfsoybean 💗💗💗
For an invisible zipper first hand bast it into the garment, then sew using either an invisible zipper foot or a half foot. When sewing pull the teeth away from the needle as you sew so that you can get close to the zipper teeth. This is my favorite zipper to install.
I love the dress! 💜💜 Now I want to make one too!
OMGGG girl.. you need to sell these custom made if that's something you're interested in. this dress is soooo gorgeous
beautiful 👏👏👏
For double circle skirt you divide your waist measurement by 2, then you divide the result by 2pi where you end up with the radius of your each circle skirt. By this way when you sew two skirts side by side the waist measurement fits your size. So you don't need to sew/ruffle it to fit.
The drawings are so helpful! I have to slow down the video a bit to understand the calculations, but that's just my brain mathing.
your pain was our gain, thanks Sharon, it looks beautiful
Cute ☺️ puffy dress
This turned out so cute!!!!
Would it maybe be easier to attach the ruffles before attaching the skirt to the bodice? At least that way there's less fabric when attaching the ruffles and a shorter seam when attaching the dress.
sooo stunning!!!
The way i screamed when i saw the thumbnail
definitely a super late comment but! when I'm doing zips I like to go ahead and sew the seam on a long stitch, place my zipper right over the seam, then sew it in place. this is definitely better for a busier fabric if you're looking to stay completely invisible, but it's rly helpful for making sure your fabric is exactly closed over the zip!
It came out so nice!!!
I've given up and just hand stitch all of my zippers lol
So pretty! Do you have an invisible zip foot? Couldn't tell from when you were sewing it in, that would deffo help. Also you can iron your zipper flat before you put it in on a low heat and that can help you sew closer to the teeth. Such an absolutely incredibly dress though 💗💗💗

Your earrings are fab :)
So pretty ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Girl, you should get a ruffler foot for your sewing machine! 💕
Me encantó estoy recién empezando con la costura y aunque no entiendo muy bien el inglés explicas bastante bien ❤
When you can, can you please make a tutorial on the selkie Lady Marie gown? 😍 I feel like that dress is going to look amazing!
I love this tutorial thank youuuuu also love how your husband’s mask matched your dress that is so freaking cute
I think I'm a little late, but I hope you can see my comment. Here in Brazil we have an invisible ziper foot, it's really cheap and super easy to use (actually saved my sewing projects), it's much easier than try to sew with a regular foot.
Personally I think its easier to put the zipper in before attaching the lining. I always sew the fabric where i want to attach the zipper with a basting stitch, then sew in the zipper. That way when you take out the basting stitches you zipper wil be coverd by the fabric. Look for centered zipper on UA-cam for lots of tutorials. I haven't been sewing for that long so it might not be the "best" way to insert a zipper but this way it only takes a bout 20 min and I like the way it looks.
very nice
I'm so looking forward to watching this, thank you so much. Your videos are so peaceful and pleasant :)
oh I remember when you made the original dress!! yay I can't wait to see :))))
props to you for working with organza so often, I studied fashion in school and haven't even tried it yet. I'm going to save the rest of my comments until the end so they don't get flagged, but I'll come back when I have finished watching! I am so grateful for you :)
Wow wow wow wow. Every shot more stunning than the last. This is a really beautiful video- detailed and helpful and motivating and relaxing. And lovely to look at :) Thank you so much for this gift.
Invisible zipper trick that you might know already- I was taught to iron the zipper teeth towards the center of the zipper before sewing. This gets them to lie flatter, be stitched more precisely, and have a more ~seamless~ final look.
Potential risks include melting the zipper teeth and/or flattening them so much that you end up sewing into the teeth and making the zipper un-zipperable. I think ironing through a muslin cloth helps with the melt risk, and finding the ~right~ invisible zipper foot might help with the construction aspect... But my fastest invisible zip insert is like 30 minutes probably so I'm still looking for tips myself.
Invisible zippers through dress waistlines are always a little funky, especially when you have as many layers as you do in this one. Besides separating the seam allowances evenly between the bodice and skirt portions, I'm not sure what can help with that... I haven't tried hand sewing super close to the teeth yet but that might be worth trying.
The dress is absolutely striking. It came together so beautifully and you wear it so well :) Love seeing the matching masks and pairing with your companion, so sweet and present and warm. Thank you again for your work on this, I am forever glad to have found your channel.
Hey, I'm not sure if you go by Fry or another name but thank you so much for all of your thoughtful comments across all my videos! I read them all and I'm so appreciative even though I'm just replying here :) you must be an avid sewer youve always got lots of great tips for me! Thanks so much for your support it means so much to me 😊❤ ill definitely try the zipper trick 😊
@@halfsoybeanFry or Fairfarren are both good :) I'm back to rewatch this for the third or fourth time already :)) I'm really glad that you have found anything I have said to be helpful. I don't sew as much as I would like to, but seeing you put things together really inspires me and has helped open up that part of my brain again
Thank you so much for your channel, I'm so so happy to be here :)
I love how the dress turned out it’s super adorable also where did you get your earrings they remind me of deep space nine and they’re so cute ☺️
shooo cuteee
aaaAAAAAAAAAaa everything so cute !!
So fun! This is another that I'll have to try. Your channel is inspiring :). I'm new at UA-cam, if you have any advice I'd love to hear it!
I think there is a ruffle foot attachment that ruffles the fabric as you sew so you don’t have to do it all by hand
Hi, if ou are still having trouble with invisible zippers here is a trick. First hand bast the zipper along the center of the zipper tap to the garment, then sew by machine.
I wonder if you could save time and material if you did a bubble hem with the ruffle strips? More volume with less fabric?
I love your blouse please make a tutorial 💜💜💜💜
It is already 🥰 it’s my vintage tea towel video :)
Необыкновенная красота! В этом платье ты как куколка!
i think this is my favourite dress you've ever made it's so pretty 💗
this looks amazing! Just a question about when you say that the length of the top pieces should sum to your upper chest measurement. Do you mean including, or not including the armpit holes? also, do you have any advice as to what the ratios should be of the width of the bodice pieces? thank you so much!
This is sooo beautiful I want to recreate it but I'm just wondering how much fabric I should ask for? I know you had to go and get extra 🤔
Can you share where you got your fabric? It’s gorgeous!
Yes I wd also like to know fabric sourxe
