i used 5 metres of fabric (148cm width) i recommend getting 6m if you intend on using circle skirts for all of skirt layers. Your outer circle skirt needs quite a lot of fabric -otherwise you can just gather a long rectangular piece (this will use much less fabric, stick with 5m in this case)

Hey guys! I want to clarify some points regarding the measurements (I was really rushing to get this video out and if you start analysing the numbers closely they might not add up perfectly, sorry!! my 2am editing brain wasn't super switched on 😭)
• the sleeve: the measurements i have up are the final measurements (75cm x 50cm)
• my underbust was 32in, so it should split into 16inch (+1 inch seam allowance) each, (but I seem to have used 18inch by accident!)
the pattern measurements and shapes are meant as a guide only and should be followed loosely - to get the best fit, just start with some basic pieces that look similar and make a practice bandeau as I mention in the video. This is going to get you the best fit.
Also some other common Qs:
• I used 5m of fabric, but if your fabric is too sheer maybe get a little more. (alternatively, instead of using a circle skirt on the outer skirt, maybe use a rectangular pieces that is about 2.5-3x your underbust circumference, but I have not actually tried this so please use this advice with discretion)
• my dress was two layers (bandeau and skirt)
thanks :)
Can you tell me the tape you put on the sleeve please, what is the exactly tape's name?
@@chompoojantawan8681 its just regular bias binding or bias tape theyre the same thing you can find at fabric stores:)
@@halfsoybean thank you so much, I'm sewing beginner need to learn more! :D

Uure
ah it turned out AMAZING
❣
Yep
I am sitting on my studio floor, watching the grinch and making this dress using your tutorial. So excited to see the end results!
Thats amazing to hear!! Happy holidays ❤🎄😍
How’d it go
update us girl!!!
It turned out great! It’s on my Instagram if you want to suss! Katy1kenobi 💕
It's been 2years girllll how did it went???
Kinda rude how the dress she made looks better than the original. THE AUDACITY.
Same idea here lol 😂😂
To be fair though, most dress online look good on presentation, but factory made and mass produced. However, this UA-camr is creative and passionate with this project
@@helloworld2784 selkie isn’t mass produced like fast fashion
@@helloworld2784 selkie isn’t mass production that’s why it’s more exxy
Omg I thought I was the only one 😂
I've been looking at this dress for a while and you've made it seem doable. I think I'm going to make this my first project in 2021!
Same! Omg
Dont wait and do it right now !:)
It's definitely not too hard! Have a go you guys ❤️
Same!!!
Same
This dress is such a DREAM wow!!! I love how the skirt is so floaty and the sleeves have the perfect puff! Well done on this!
Thank you so much!!
I’d love a whole video on how you figure out the patterns for your dresses after you sketch the dresses, like at 3:04 when you’ve got the pattern pieces drawn out. I’m a beginner who also wants to dupe designer dresses from scratch so it would be super helpful!
Ah yes okay! Usually it's just visual investigation and thinking! I'll put it in my to do!
@@halfsoybean yes please!!!! I couldn't understand a thing but I liked the result!!!
I'm scared to make it especially with organza bc I've never worked with that before but I NEED this dress and I refuse to spend copious amounts of money when I could make it myself. Maybe I'll make it in like a year
I wish you luck! ❤️
Have you made it yet? 😉
@@madds14 haha that's awesome! I made my own fluffy princess dress too earlier this year. It's so fun to wear!
I love it when youtubers actually wear normal wrinkly home clothes, makes me feel motivated that i can also do this in my wrinkly home clothes. Amazing project!
being able to make your own clothes is just next level of talent.
Sewing is like a on and off hobby for me. Watching these videos makes me want to see more.
This looks so cute!!
I made a bandeau top the other week, and I ended up drafting it by pinning fabric directly onto my bra and basting in all the darts I needed. Just a handy tip for all the rest of the beans in the sewpod who have bigger busts (like me!) and cannot figure out curves at all.
Thanks for your tips!
I've watched a lot of different youtubers who've given explanations on how to make an item, and this honestly has been the first one so far that I've felt confident to do. As a beginner, it's hard to understand the break down, but how you've done it has made it seem very simple and helpful :) Really really appreciate that!
Tipp: I use the sleeve of one of my dad’s old shirts as a pattern to make puffed sleeves
I’m basically using this pattern with a ridiculously smaller proportions to make a Cinderella dress for my daughter. The straight cut torso with poofy sleeves and short poofy skirt is exactly what I wanted and the fabrics are similar to what other videos recommended. Thanks for this upload!
Hey sorry to bother you im not fluent in english and i didn't understand thé skirt part she mentionsed near the end so if doesn't bother you can you explain me what she did
She is glowing with confidence! The talent! The charisma! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾⭐️🌈
the movement? the matching hair bow? WOW this is amazing
Honestly one of the most beautiful dresses I've ever seen! Knowing its possible to make these types of dresses with skill and patience is inspiring me to pick up sewing. Thank you :)
wow this is the most beautiful version of this dress ive ever seen
With that fabric, this is just the perfect modern-day take on the regency dress and I love it. I definitely will have to try my hand at it
I'm glad you mentioned you weren't sure what you were doing because it makes me feel better about making my own poufy dress. Even with my nerves I can still create beautiful creations.
What makes this video beautiful is how she added her mistakes and realizations all together with perfection💖
I decided to sew a dress similar to what you made. I was initially looking for puff sleeves tutorial, but your video was so comforting i loved it wholeheartedly ❤ i do not feel like its going to be scary!! Thank you!
I am terrible at the rolled hem foot, it's so tricky so I feel you
yeah omg 😭😭😭
I wish this video had come out a month ago when I started making this dress myself! It's so helpful. I ran into the exact same situation with the sleeves, and my french seams would've been so much nicer if I'd zigzagged the first seam (since I don't have an overlocker). I still have the skirt to do, so wish me luck with so much hemming and gathering!
When I saw those sleeves my heart actually started beating faster hahaha
ahahhaha that made me laugh 😂 😆
we call that love at first sight and truely it is
I made this dress as a Christmas gift and needed some clarification on how to attach the sleeves (this is my first time sewing a full garment) and this made it super easy and was very helpful! LOVED THE DRESS!💕
It’s beautiful 😻.
This can easily be styled as “Lolita Fashion”. Add a blouse, bloomers, stockings/ankle socks, and ballet flats. Topped off with a matching head scarf.
Just beautiful 😻
Daaang. This was just soooo cute. Very dreamy and gives a childlike innocence with the silhouette.

What a great way to start this slightly hectic day! Hope you have a great holiday season and thank you!💙
Happy holidays! Thanks so much, hope your day wasn't too hectic! ❤️
Oh, I would wear this dress to take out the trash. I'd wear this dress ANYWHERE. it's beautiful. Thanks for the tutorial, love. ❤️ I want to make one in a neon mint-aqua color.
This is sucha pretty dress omg I’ve never tried sewing before and have like 0 experiences in it but I’m good at crafting so I think this is gonna be my first project! ✨🧚🏻♀️ thank you for this awesome tutorial 💙💚
Cant wait for u to try!!
How'd it go : )
It’s like your in my head! I’ve been searching YT for a sew along selkie dress! Thank you! Your dress looks fantastic (as always) 😍
I hope it helps! Thank you so much ❤️
I started watching your videos a few days ago and this is the most recent video of you I've seen and your confidence is amazing! Im glad you look more confident now and I hope you realise how amazing you are!
ahhhh IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL!! i feel like the key to this type of dress is getting the fullness of the skirt and sleeves just right and you totally nailed it!!!! it's so aesthetically pleasing 🥺 u did an amazing job!
Thanks so much heh❤❤☺️
I’m super excited to make this dress! I bought everything I needed
I’ll make it a little more modest for me hahah. A coverage of the back and front with turtleneck ribbon and I’ll play with the skirt until I reach the length I want.
Thank you so much for the tutorial it’s sooo pretty
Please make a velvet dress . . . 🙏🏾💕
my jaw DROPPED when you did the final reveal, it's so beautiful
Omggg when i watch withwendy's version of this, i thought a puffy sleeve will be *bomb af* and here you are 😭🙌
loved the final result. i loved how you show us when you fail the sleeves and make it bigger but it turns out more beautiful. make more video please.
Thank you so much!
that's such a pretty dress.i luv the color, style & fabric.yor jewlry 's nice 2.u lk like a princess.
omg tysm for all of the details and sketches you included, i feel like a lot of sewing youtubers don’t really do that for beginners but you did and it’s super helpful!!! subscribed ☺️☺️
I have been looking for dupes of this dress and oh. My. God. I HAVE TO TRY THIS
I allow seam allowance for all pieces ?
OMG
You have the sweetest personality
Ive never enjoyed a UA-camr this much
😍
i want to run through the forest to find my lover in a castle with vines and flowers and cottagecore dreams in this dress 🍄
Me too!
I've been sewing for 10 years and I love your bias tape on the shoulder curve hack. Excellent video! ❤
Thank you so much ❤❤
I actually like this one better than the original. It's like, more casual. That fabric is also really pretty. Keep up the great work!
AMAZING - this dress is so dreamy & i love it so much!! you did such an amazing job, absolutely gorgeous!!
Thank you so much!!
omfg the wind loves you at the end. this is really so pretty. you're making me want to sew!
Stinkin' adorable. The matching hair ribbon was a really nice touch.
I enjoy your version much better! The longer bodice is much more flattering ✨
Oh thank you! 😊
And they way the bottom has a cute little flip so good!!
This is so so beautiful!! Definitely on my to do list when I get some organza fabric!!
Just a tip, when you topstitch the neckline of the bodice, if you want the same effect but without the stitch line showing, try under stitching instead of top stitching! Literally has saved my life so much because when sewing organza and trying to do a top stitch I get so nervous HAHA but under stitching allows me to get the same clean, finished edge but just without the obvious line. Feel free to ignore the tip, I just wanted to tell you in case you weren't aware of it!
But again, THIS DRESS IS LITERALLY SUCH A DREAM DRESS IM IN LOVE TT The sleeves and flowy skirt are to die for :)
Thats really helpful! Even though I know.about understitching I didn't think to do it 😂 thanks a lot ☺️😂
Oh my god perfect. I found this two tones organza and I haven't found a single design that I liked so this dress is perfect. Yay!
hi halfsoybean!!! Currently watching ur video (I love it so much you’ve done an amazing job) I just wanted to say there’s no need to overlock French seams 🥰💕 saves time and works just as well!!!
Haha thank you, i actually went into store to see how organza seams were finishes and a few of them had overlocked in between French seams so decided to have a go that way! I agree tho, dont think it was all that necessary😂
I've watched this video so many times and it never fails to amaze me how beautiful it is.
Oh my! ❤ the way she says HERE!! Its so cute
You made this tutorial so simple to understand. It is beautiful. Thank you so much.
This is my first time stumbling upon your video and I’VE JUST FELL IN LOVEEEE!🥺❤️👏🏻 I truly love and appreciate your time of showing us step by step of what you did and all the measurements you displayed on the screen! Most sewing videos don’t show measurements and it’s just horrifying for beginners like some of us out here, to start off somewhere somehow!😭 Thankyou!❤️
the circle skirt really makes a lot of difference as compare to a regular rectangular skirt.
I love that you’re watching tv at the same time.
Grabbed some earrings as a gift and another for myself i hope you got a commission babe
You're the sweetest! Thank you, I am sure you will love them ❤️
I got a sewing machine for Christmas and I’m totally obsessed with that baby doll silhouette! Maybe I’ll try to make a similar dress if I find some fabric that I like 😂❤️
The most useful tutorial ever! Thank you so much ❤️
I just finished my dress today using your tutorial as reference! Only differences really are that I decided to make a poly satin lining for the bodice and skirt instead of just using more organza/using spandex, and I only had one layer of organza for my dress instead of two.
The sleeves were a force (but that’s my fault bc my tubing was smaller than my actual elastic.... and my stubborn ass still decided to fudge with it and it made my sleeves too loose for my shoulders for some time 😔), but in the end after some alterations and such it was SO WORTH IT.
Thank you for making this tutorial!!!! It helped A LOT
Wwwwaaooo I m obsessed 😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️you made it really really really beautiful dear ....❤️❤️❤️I m sure gonna try this
The little duck pattern weights!!!! 😍😍
Great job on the dress, you're so talented!
Thank you so much! 🐥😊
Thats beautiful!😍 I love this type of dress and would love to make my own. Looks difficult tho. And idk if i have the confidence to wear it. Its so cute
This is one of your best projects. It looks great.
Thank you! 😊
omg!!! i've been waiting for a video like this because ever since i saw photos of that dress, it makes me wanna make one but idk how... and now i might give it a try
You should!❤️❤️
I love this dress sooo much, I did this and went on a small picnic with my friends, they asked about the dress, I said I made it, I was so proud.
Bonus: I love your accent
WILL TOTALLY BUY THIS. PLEASE MAKE MORE TO SELL OMG.
I went through the same thing with my rolled hem foot, at first I hated it and didn't know how to use it properly, now i love it and use soooo much !!!!
I need more training!! hahaha I really want to be good at it because it seems so useful
Your dress is so gorgeous and you were great at sewing it. You also looked beautiful in it. Fantastic job!
This turned out GORGEOUS
Literally no one looks good in this dress even though it's a stunning dress.
You look so good in your version i am 😍😍😍
Girl what are you even talking about 😂
The dress is made Beacuse of how pretty it is...
I agree. I think it's because it looks like a dress made for kids. If the top part went a bit longer down to the waist, it would be much more flattering to the body shape. Everyone looks ridiculous in this dress. I believe that in this video she did make the top part a bit longer, so it looks way better.
@Joe Bennett who? Your 4-year-old neighbor?
@@mellinsomnia1 another girl made the dress with a longer bodice and decided afterwards that it didn't look as good and I agree.
Genius! Love your videos! Soo easy to understand
God that's gorgeous, such a beautiful design.. I had thought whilst watching that if I could add more "fairy" to this dress I would possibly make the back kind of corset it may be a bit more consuming and I also don't have any clue if that would work with the material. Overall through watching several channels with clothing designs I am getting more inclined to try some myself someday.
Yours turned out even better than the original! I didn't like the look of the original dress a lot, but seeing your end result I'm sold on this dress style
Oh my goooood it's sssssssoooooo cuteee and beautiful 😭😫💗💗💗
This tutorial is amazing! It’s so detailed and helpful!!!
I’m definitely excited to check the rest of your channel 😁
Thanks so much Samuel! ☺️
This video is a literally A GEM 💎 I can’t believe I stumbled across this 💛 thank you for this 🙏💛💛
I like your version even better than selkie's- I've always thought that the bandeau on their dresses is just an inch or two too short. I'll definitely have to try this!
Out of total coincidence I just bought 5m of that exact fabric from Spotlight intending to make a Bridgerton inspired version of this dress. Was looking for baby doll puffy dress tutorials and my draw dropped when I saw yours!!! Uncanny!
It turned out beautifully! I love the choice of fabric.
this dress is literally SO CUTE!! omg one day I will try and make my own
You are so helpful and knowledgeable. This video really helped me!!!
Owemji this turned out so well!!! I don't have a proper sewing machine but I super enjoyed watching you put it together 💙 I can only hope I get to this level of sewing skillz ✌
I love puffy dresses! They're gorgeous
This is a gorgeous fairycore dress!! so cute ✨💕
I just finished watching your video, ill go on the hunt for fabric now and then make this dress omg
i was literally looking at dresses like this on pinterest and then youtube recommended your video 😍
The dress looks amazing and you are so talented!! good job, and merry christmas!
Merry Christmas 🥺❤ thank you!
It turned out so well. I’m always too afraid to get near and use sheer fabrics but this could convince me for try again
THIS IS THE ANSWER TO ALL MY LIFE'S QUESTIONS, I'M MAKING THIS
Wooooow, I'm so proud of your work. It's so amazing.. :) thank you for sharing your ideas
That's so neat I wanna sew stuff like that😊
You should keep making all these pretty dresses 😍😍💕💕💕
this is beyond amazing. i could imagine they would sell like hotcakes if made.
Amazing work. Looks so beautiful on you.
