It is wonderful that people are finally getting together to help this last population of lions in India's Gir Forest. I hope folks will get together to help African lions, which are in peril. Numbers are decreasing steadily due to habitat loss, conflicts with indigenous populations, and poaching! Let's save the African lions before it's too late! SAVE THE LIONS!

Most of the asiatic lions were hunted down by local indian rulers. So stop blaming everything to british and accept your own failures too. As for lion conservation cost, don't make begging to others. India has enough resources to protect wildlife.

We cannot talk about conservation without talking about the massive raping and pillaging of Indian & African wildlife done by the British Empire. The British started a whole new industry exporting Lion & Tiger trophies weighing in tonnes to Europe for profit. It is so impressive to see the Indian Govt salvage whatever remnants was left of the Indian Big cat population and turn it around so quickly. Its a miracle the Lion numbers grew from a few dozens in 1947 to around 500 today.
Such efforts for saving animals shows signs that humanity is still alive !! real heroes are ranger who track those lion everyday and inform forest center if any lion is injured or not. They even track their poop and keep track of food wether lion are hungry or not

Sri Lanka never had lions nor it cam sustain any lion population. Lions won't adapt to the environment and even if they does it would be disasterous to the local prey population as they are not adapted to having lion in their wild.
We Indians want that only asiatic lions are found in gujarat only and gujarat govt has made it a pride by showing their greediness and gujarat is not letting these lions to be translocated to other states of India where protected areas for lions are already prepared in India lions are not relocated to other states due to gujarat govt bad politics how it can be relocated to Iran.
How about protecting Asiatic cheetah. They r cute and when we wanted cheetah u demanded Lions from us if u cant even protect them how we can give u lions. If u want Wild animal to besaved iran has to give us Cheetahs

India has both lions 🦁 and tigers in a wild
They also have India Leopard and snow leopard plus the cloudy leopard to many big cats 😰 but amazing animals.

actually the latest census revealed that the population is about 650 which is very good

Unfortunately, the British killed the last Iraqi pride of lions in 1918.
Only 20 were left in 1920s in India, the British excessive poaching killed 80,000 tigers in India

Lions dont live in tropical dense forest, they prefer open Grassland. Tiger is suitable for forest of Sri Lanka.
