As an organization with over 40 years in the sector, the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless advocates each year throughout the legislative session to influence policies around affordable housing, healthcare, homelessness, and more. This year’s legislative session, which runs from January 10 through May 8th, 2024, features over 155 bills on an array of topics that impact people experiencing homelessness and those at risk of homelessness.
The Coalition Education & Advocacy team tracks or engages with dozens of bills each legislative session, working with expert staff and community members to testify on behalf of, or against, numerous bills. Some of the key bills in 2024 include: expanding supportive services in housing, improving access to identification documents for people experiencing homelessness, and strengthening substance use treatment options. In addition, we will share how you can get involved in the process whether it’s speaking to your representatives in person on CCH Lobby Day or simply signing a petition.
Join us to learn about the Colorado legislative process and hear from Cathy Alderman, Chief Communications and Public Policy Officer, Aubrey Wilde, Advocacy Program Director, and Andrew West, Housing Policy Associate who will provide an overview of the 2024 Colorado legislative session, discuss trends in advocacy, and how you can get involved this session.
This session is designed for community members who want to listen, learn, ask questions, advocate, and engage with important information on homelessness and proposed solutions to improve the lives of people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
