- Come along with us as we try to fill a High Country Black Bear tag as well as a High Country Buck tag in the Blue Mountains of Washington State.
We went with Backcountry Hunting Guide Luke Carrick of Guiderite Adventures.
It would be cool to hunt with Caylen. But honestly, it’s pretty shameful to have to have someone else set your scope up during game time.

Technically yes it would be illegal if they were to shoot a deer since one of the hunters mentioned something about shooting a mule deer if an opportunity came. In Washington it is required to wear hunter orange if you are using modern rifle to hunt any big game except bear and cougar. But since they only shot a bear then technically no they did nothing illegal.
You don't have to wear orange to hunt bears in washington only if it over laps deer and elk firearm season
Jerry Niland they have a tag for mule deer. So I’m assuming it’s a modern deer season therefor requiring orange

Nice jobgetting way out of your comfort zone and trying a very different kind of hunt. Surprised at the haters here. Most of them probly never really hunt. Hope you got to try it again with more experience under your belt since then
These guys are the most disrespectful and annoying "Outfitters " or guides or whatever they're trying to be. That fella who was there to hunt bear did nothing except pull the trigger on their rifle. Thev did the spotting had their gun already sighted on a bear ( Of the guides choosing) and they wouldn't even let him adjust the scope for himself lol. I don't think I would like someone else to use me as a shooter for Their Hunt.

Love the blue mountains it’s my main area to hunt some record elk live there you just have to get drawn for a tag.
Got fuel at the General Store in Dayton, hunting the Wenaha. The simple fact that you can't even load a round in your rifle- sorry to say is pathetic. It doesn't matter how much you paid for the guide. I would have walked the first time either one of them touched my rifle. You, as a "hunter" should be prepared to handle the hunt and the situation yourself. Shooting beyond your capabilities and piss poor judgement to not wear hunter orange at any time, on both hunters and more so on the guide. Just sayin
You don't wear hunter orange in washington during bear season. Only during deer and elk.
The rifle being chambered by the guide was weird. What you think that was about? I don't think it was the hunter that didn't know how no way

Very average washington state bear. Especially for the Blue Mtns. I’ve seen larger in the NE corner of the state but if your not in shape, it won’t happen.
I live in WA not super far from the blues, your lucky you got to hear wolves before me!
