Mariano uploads at a greater frequency than ever few months. Sometimes only a week in between. Also he does upload losing sessions. I just watched all of the uploads and i seem to remember quite a few losing sessions.
Easily my favorite vlogger, you’re on a different planet analytically. I watch other vloggers and I know in the moment they make emotional decisions and play cover up story when they talk about how they came to the decision that they did. But you’re stone cold and play every street like it’s a business. Admirable
One thought - on the AJ v KK hand - the V is eating, which means he stopped eating to enter the hand. When this happens I usually exploitatively eliminate any bluffs from their hand, and narrow their range.
I like that you’ll mix in some aggression on your reads. It’s amazing how many poker vloggers never mix in big bluffs unless they have a huge draw. They are all grinders with analysis like I raised preflop and he didn’t three bet so I have all the Aces and Kings.
The trip 6's hand. I believe the official technical term is "bottomest of sets" (or Sign of the Beast, pick). First, I think you're one of the absolute strongest technical players in the vlogesphere, and I learn a ton from your game. So please 'splain me why you checked the turn. Yes, if he has 98 exactly, we're in bad shape, but otherwise we're way the hell in front, and we don't want to give all that equity free cards. I think you read it quite right at the time (and in retrospect) that the turn card probably helped him. That's different than "Gave him the nuts". Bet big, deny equity, collect value. If he raises, deal with it as appropriate. Certainly have a *plan* for if he raises, and that plan subject to raise size, but checking for fear of 98 exactly seems like a bad idea.
One has to factor in all of the air Rampage will have that he might want to fire off on the river. Unfortunately, Rampage had showdown value in this instance and checked back the river.
@@pokermudgeon2299 There's certainly some value in letting Ethan blast off with air. But we're OP and (this is getting pretty deep) we know that Ethan respects our game. He won't punt as blithely against us as he will against randoms. I think if we were watching an Ethan video, and this was at The Brook, he might well blast on the river. But this is big stakes, the Bellagio, and "we" are Mariano - a known crusher. I think there's too good a chance that Ethan is either (a) going to have showdown value and/or (b) choose not to punt air and/or (c) "realize our equity" and take the free card that he knows he needs. In position, it'd be a totally different story, but when you're OP you have to play straighter and imo this is a case where that means betting big and not letting him see a free river card with a pocketful of outs.
Yeah I agree that one he should've played more aggressively. I would also check raise the turn as well as there are plenty of worse hands and draws to get value from if I were going to check. Also the A8o hand seems pretty punty to me. I don't really think AK+ is really ever folding and villain has other hands like sets and two pairs in his range that are never folding. So realistically you only get folds from hands like AJ or maybe sometimes from AK, while getting snapped off by the rest of his range. No reason to ever turn a hand as strong as top pair into a bluff really on that sort of texture. He could've played the hand as a call OTT as he still beats plenty of turned flush draws (and considering the snap fold OTR I would say that's most likely what he had).
I've been enjoying these poker vlogs players have been making. Even more so than the corporate sponsored tournaments and big final table games. Nice job guys, I hope the casino's appreciate the attention you bring to their tables!
The two best playing vloggers online in my opinion. Would love to see ethan and mariono play against brad and neeme. That would get some traction for all you guys! Enjoy all of the games and vlogs from all 4 of you guys! Much respect and lets see the tagteam event before this summer ends!!
Hey Mariano, would it be possible to somehow include your starting stack before each hand? Makes it easier to follow how much you’re up/down Great vlog!
First, You two have superb chemistry together. Second, great poker vloggage. After seeing tons of these from you I’m getting pretty close to your bet sizing, check/bet/bluff decisions etc…on various streets. Trying to nail these is a challenge but really worth it as it just has to help a guy improve through osmosis, if that’s a word or makes any sense. Third thanks for making poker fun, first here and also live a few times a week. Cheers man. Cya soon.
Turning the A8 into a turn bluff x/r was an extra sweet play. You said, "Meh, I could do the lazy thing and call," and in my head I thought "... but instead I just folded - next hand, please." Which, of course, is a perfectly reasonable plan - you don't have to call three streets and then say "Oh, nice kicker." But you zigged when I would have zagged - I sat up in my chair and said, "Whoa - this is elegant, and for all the right reasons." Even if it didn't work, even if you'd chosen not to do it for whatever reason, that you *thought* of it and why it was a good play was supremely educational. Thank you.
Your AA hand he didn’t have a pair, he was mucking his hand already at 16:43 so more than likely AK suited of diamonds? Spade turn mucking because he’s stone dead.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? You open to 40$ or even in a smaller game, open to 20$, and then see a freaking 11X raise to 220$ (if you opened to 20$) when you have Aces. I mean comon. Only Mariano does something like that happen too. The ol 11X limp re raise in a 5 10 game when you have black Aces. Sweet. Easy game.
Great work Mariano, your content and how you present yourself is what a blogger should be. I'm looking forward to the future of what u create next. Btw, I love the friendly shots you fired at rampage lol.
Turning A8 into a bluff at the end there was pretty spew-tastic. I'm glad it worked out for you, but I find it pretty hard to justify that play, especially when a Q hits the river and AQ is a big part of his continue range.
I mean it's not really that high stakes, blowing 3-5k isn't a huge deal for a lot of people on vacation/business in vegas. At least it's more interactive than playing pit games.
@slicer1028 i mean...to Vegas standards its not THAT big to where it's completely wild that a dude on vacation with lots of money doesn't mind gambling a few thousand in a poker game. To the rest of us, who grind, yes, it's a pretty big game. Dude probably owns a business or something and clears that buyin in less than a full days business lol. I worked at a casino for 10 years the amount of money you see get thrown around is insane and hard to believe unless you're there to see it

Just a college kid here satisfying his love for poker by watching since i’m unable to play in many places. At 11:55 you and your opponent both have a flush. I just wanted to clarify, you win because of the high card you have which is an ace correct? Love the vlogs, keep them coming!

interesting how you went for thin value with the A7 hand and not with the AA hand, you were right in both spots but i think the AA hand has more merit to value bet with the missed flush draw and not blocking top pair, vs the A7 it's hard to get called by anything besides a Q. AA hand I think you can get a few more hero the way he played it he has top pair of jacks a lot also. they both are close for sure. You're almost definitely going to value cut yourself in both spots a decent portion of the time but like you said before it's still probably slightly winning.

Normally, someone is raising there with 2 pair plus Mariano could have had aces up, a straight, or a set No one pair hand can make that call
Yeah agreed no reason to turn that hand into a bluff when it can be simply played as a call as you're still beating turned draws.
