Those 4 games were the best qb play since Ben left. The Steelers looked like a real offense for a change. Man I hope the Steelers finally just give Mason the job. Go Steelers!

Masons play was not noticed because someone had blinders on when their eyes needed to be open. Mason could have 2 years starting and Kenny two years of development. Mitch could be selling real estate in the suburbs.

They couldn't pay Hargrave, Tuition, and Cam, and they didn't have a crystal ball showing what would happen to Tuitt. If they did they wouldn't have let Hargrave go.

Mason is a rock solid path forward. It seems like this has to be priority 1, 2, and 3! Give him a chance!
What a game ! Right down to the wire DK. The game could have gone either way and yes, the first game of last season was surely on my mind. Loved the commercials too. What ever decisions be made for the Pittsburgh Steelers, I'm excited to see how it all plays out. Thank you DK, and another great show.
Defense still matters.
DK: Thank you for putting this in it's proper context. I had visions of another anoitment at QB1. Another season of the defense putting forward super-human performances to keep games close, only to break down by the end of the season, & it was truly terrifying.
That was a heart breaker last night. It was hard to imagine my brother, whose a 9ERS fan, ĵust starting at the tv😢

Hey DK. I want to start by saying that I absolutely respect and enjoy listening to your takes, and reading the articles from you, Cory and Chris. Great content and I generally agree with most of your opinions, or at least see the logic behind it. With that said, I do question your stance that there is no better place to go than Pittsburg for Mason. I'm not saying that it would be his worst option in any way, but I do see other options that may be very attractive, and may present a more likely starting role for him. Atlanta actually springs to mind. They are drafting in a spot where the top options at QB could be gone before they draft and Mason could be signed as a bridge Starter where he could earn a permanent role by playing the way her did in the last 4 games. As always, enjoy all of the content you guys put out and keep up the great work.
Actually, we don’t know what Kenny could’ve done under the new offensive coordinators. He got injured almost right away. But, that was after he and the offense actually looked a little bit better. So, again, who knows?
Hope Mason comes back and wins QB1. Pickett is injury prone and not a real 1st rd talent. Nothing he does is as good or better than the top few QB. At least, this version of Rudolph not only has the deep accurate pass, but he's poise and leads the offense down the field
My bet is Rudolph will leave the Steelers as his career was completely mismanaged by Tomlin and the front office. Any team that make a competitive offer he will take and be gone. Honestly even as a Steelers fan I don’t blame him.
@@wilcross50rather, the way they refused to acknowledge he was the best QB in the “competition” two years in a row, but clearly held enough contempt for him to place him 3rd behind Trubisky just because they chose to stupidly pay Mitch what they did. After Kenny went down, the coaching/personnel changes were not made with the proper frame of mind - let’s just say they weren’t trying to field the best team possible with the greatest chance of winning. The utter pomposity and the disconnect by Art II suggesting that the Canada firing hurt Kenny is ludicrous and indicates that they’re no longer to be perceived as a serious franchise until the owner mindset is corrected. Allowing Canada to almost completely ruin your 1st round pick is the thing that is unconscionable.
Thank you for clarification of "NFL insiders" sources (agents with an agenda). I'll stick with what I heard from Art Rooney II, Coach Tomlin, and Mason's interview with Ramon, and hope Mason opts to re-sign with the Steelers!

Who cares about Mason or Kenny....get a difference maker at QB...not average Quarterbacks that will never beat any of the top AFC or NFC Quarterbacks

I certainly did not blot out the destruction of Pittsburgh. I actually prompted me to predict the Niners winning the Super Bowl. This was the 6th time I fell short of a winning prediction falling short in the big game. I'm looking forward to when I can make that prediction, again for Pittsburgh...Of course they could win when I do. :-)
Mason is clearly the better QB between he and Picket.
Mason is the best option to start next season. Bad decision to throw to Jennings on 3 and 4. McCaffrey was open.
Initially I was hoping the 49ers would win the Super Bowl because I was tired of seeing Mahomes win but after thinking about it, if the 49ers won they would have been tied with the Steelers with the most Superbowl rings and so now I'm glad they didn't win. We already have the Patriots tied with us the more teams with 6 rings takes away from the accomplishment. Btw on another note do we still have Mitch Trubisky on the roster? If so why is he still here?
Mahomes is just like Brady. To beat him and the Chiefs, you HAVE to score touchdowns. Field goals won't get it done. You almost have to play a perfect game to beat them.
I think we all knew the game was over the second Shanahan decided to go for the field goal in OT. While still having 2 minutes on the clock
2:00 was just the time left in the first period of OT! They could have had 100 periods if it was still tied….
The Chiefs were always gonna get the ball in OT. The new rules allow for both teams to possess the ball regardless of whether or not a TD is scored on the first possession
Mahomes is the best I’ve ever seen at the QB position. His arm talent is elite. His brain is surgical and he’s a sneaky good runner who gets tough yards when he has to.
Sure hope we can cut a deal with Mason. I don’t fancy the idea of having the 35 year old RT coming in as our QB for next season. And last night’s game was yet another perfect example of why NO ONE should be underestimating KC as long as they have a healthy Mahomes and a great Defense. They’re still the team to beat until someone knocks them off their pedestal.

DK and Ramon have already talked about this! Steelers aren’t talking about Mason because he isn’t under contract! Kenny is! If they announce Mason as our starter guess what that gives Mason. LEVERAGE. Until he is signed they won’t talk about Mason as our starter. IF they did that then we would have to guarantee him starting qb pay.

You go ahead and tell me that if it weren’t for Steeler Nation being uncharacteristically and adamantly vocal in 2023 about firing Canada and benching Mitch for Mason, that Coach T would have pulled either of those triggers? Nah brah, especially with the Canada thing. That dude helped Dino get into his football program. Without the tremendous fan pressure at every single game home or away - even hockey games and other events - they’d have sat there on their hands. They didn’t believe in Mason even though they claimed they had a 1st Rd grade on him. Good for Mason to show em they were wrong for quickly casting him aside. They’ve been having some troubles for some time with talent evaluation see the Jarvis Jones’ and Artie Burns’ of the world.
I’ll say this…when Mason did play in his first few years, he had had little to no guidance to that point, obviously no mentorship (Ben admits this), minimal opportunities in camp or reg season and when he finally did have a chance he rarely had the full compliment of his offensive skill players. Almost always Connor or Juju were hurt or the line let the pass rush eat him alive. Doesn’t mean I think Mason is the second coming…but I learned to put things in context more rather than just look at stats. That’s why I also need to see Kenny with more than a 1.25 game sample of No Canada where others would just dismiss him because they need instant gratification.
If I’m Mason, I’m hoping the raiders reach out considering all the weapons they have and in need of a qb.
Yeah if Shefter/Rappaport whoever are talking mostly to agents the agents are gonna want to put that out there to draw more inrerest from other teams , equals more offers. The agents will always push their clients to take nore money it equals more for then they have no loyalty to teams , cities. Thanks DK
Well it’s business and they’re just doing their job. He has to try to get whatever he can because it doesn’t matter if he starts or not. The Steelers should of evaluated their players better before trying to play favorites
@@kjahmbanso i didn't imply they were going anything above, or beyond their duties. It's pretty easy to see how Mason was buried on the depth chart. Every other team missed on him based on his sample size also , not just the Steelers

Shanahan didn't adjust until it was too late and the defense was gassed. Came out of the gate too early then ran out of steam in the 4th quarter

I used to get so mad at you in the '22 camp because I thought you were reporting that Rudolph couldn't play. One morning I realized you were telling us, 'they're not giving him the chance, the die is cat.' This show had a better season than Mike Tomlin did, LOL.

If Mason leaves this year. I will not be watching the Steelers this year. MR2 is a legit QB1, he was lied to about getting a fair shot, they brought TRASHbisky in as QB1, placed Mason as QB3 and never gave him as a fair shot. Mistreating quality football players is uncharacteristic for the Rooney’s…that has been all Tomlin’s doing. Never in my 50 years of being a Steelers fan, have I known and/or characterized the coaches and management to have a lack of integrity. This all originates from Tomlin’s unfairness towards MR2. Steelers need a new coach and Tomlin needs to get fired.

I do not watch any pre-game coverage of anything. On Sundays I turn it on at 1pm. Yesterday I turned it on at 6:30. If my choices are Kenny vs Ryan tannehil. I unfortunately die with Kenny. For now I will wait until Free Adjacency and hope for Mason to come back and hope for life.

Here is what is real. Mason is a gunslinger who has weapon at his disposal. The Steelers need to see that and realize a running QB is not the answer. Sign him and allow the offense to be explosive bye passing and handing it off. Mahomes has proven passing is the winning formula and run only when necessary. Quit with all the talk of Tannehill, Wilson, Cousins and Fields as their choice. If and only if Mason leaves the yes. Mason is the QB this team needs period. He has never been given a real chance and I don't care what all the comments will say. He has not. Just go look at his college play and he has more weapons now than before. Let's get it done and sign him to a real contract, 1st team QB and allow him to prove himself. Sorry Kenny.
DK, of course Mason will consider coming back, as much as people criticize the DOG AND Pony show a couple years ago, Pittsburgh threw him a BONE after FA didn't go his way (see what I did there 😊), he could've been out of the league altogether, I just wonder how this works because we gotta see if KP can play with a legit OC! As a die hard Steeler fan I can see both of these teams (KC-49ers) in a Super Bowl rematch. Both QBs read defenses quickly, make plays on the fly and have coaches who think outside the box. Unless an elite QB (not a castoff) lands in Pittsburgh stay with Pickett and Rudolph and bring in a vet. After that fill in the holes at center, tackle, inside linebacker and corner. Then hope Smith's offense is good and injuries don't mount up like 2023. If all goes well the Steelers can win games but I too remember the 49ers game and KC beat them.
I spend far too much time on youtube arguing with people saying Mason will only ever be a backup amd the interception was the main play that cost the steelers the game.

Mahomes is the greatest Quarterback I ever seen play.. he has a great arm, he’s accurate, mobile and smart. Last night showed you the importance of having a great Quarterback. I’m sorry but the Steelers won’t win a Super Bowl with Rudolph, KP, or Tannehill. I would love to be proven wrong though.

I agree with you DK.. regarding Mason. I feel he will stay even if not promised the starting job. Art jr. and Omar Kahn just need to offer him the contract that says he can be the starter. Besides, Mason has the love of Deonte and George.

Even in SF scores a TD on OT, Mahomes still comes back on the field. In the postseason, each team gets the ball no matter what.
I feel like steelers need to really look hard at this drafts qbs and find someone that fits , hopefully Mason comes back but are we talking about competing for a ring or going 9-8 ,10 7 ...regardless we dont have a qb that has shown the play level to compete against what we have seen in these few playoff games .

I don't think bringing in Tannehill to be a mentor is all that important TBH. They have coaches for that. Rudolph and Pickett are veterans. Just hope the Steelers truly don't play favorites this time and go with their best option, Mason Rudolph.
I get the statement that "Defense wins championships" but your not going to get to one let alone win it without an Elite level QB. It's so imperative to winning constantly in todays NFL. It's crucial the Steelers find one via draft or trade. Chiefs defense played well but they aren't exactly known for shutting teams down. They win the shootout battles in the end because of the ball being in Mahomes hands. I think Mason played great, not elite level because he didn't need to be at the time.
I just don't feel we have an Elite level QB on the roster and Tannehill isn't the answer to that. So if Mason does go, what are we actually going to do to obtain one? From what I saw Kenny is NOT the answer, andif he is, he needs a year or two to develop at least. Do we bring in Cousins or Wilson for next 3 years until we can develop one..curious to hear your take DK.

I'm hoping he comes to Atlanta. But Minnesota if Cousins leaves, Denver, Seattle, Las Vegas hopefully not Washington. But he'd be an instant improvement for any of those teams. As well as the Giants, Titans, Panthers, Patriots and I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple other teams.
I didn't see the genius in Shanahan coaching game plan approach it look uncreative and minor league, Brock threw off his back foot most of the night, didn't slide up or left and right properly, no screens abandon the run no play action just GENERIC.

Rudolph would be a perfect fit for Denver I highly doubt he stays in Pittsburgh for less than 12 million a year. Tomlin never gave Rudolph a fair shake and Rudolph will never get a fair chance with Tomlin as head coach. Period.
Unless you have a Quarterback...you have no shot to to win or beat these types of teams...dam defense, running games ...bssssss...you need a Quarterback...by trade, draft etc....

NFL is very predictable.
If they ran the ball more often I think 49ers win that game easy , they let Patrick hang around and you cant do that , Beating Mahomes in that big of game you'll have to beat them like Tom did it cant be close at the end or Mahomes will get you .

If they bring in tannehill this team sucks, trade Kenny Pickett keep Rudolph and go after Justin Fields. I'd rather have those two guys on a roster with a hope of her future Super bowl championship than to have Kenny Pickett and tannehill that's the stinks
