@@whatincarnation95 what happened to Mike Helton is he no longer president of NASCAR you never see or hear him mentioned anymore
As a Mariners guy (yeah, laugh), I always love that Pepsi 400 scheme.
GO M's! NASCAR and Dale Jr. were my first love in 2002, then the Mariners in 2006. Easily the two greatest loves of my life are NASCAR and the Seattle Mariners. Sports are incredible healers sometimes. Someday we'll break the drought, make and win the World Series.
I'm a Ray's fan so legally I'm not allowed to laugh.
“It’s gonna be Dale Earnhardt Jr using lessons learned from his father to go from 6th to 1st in scoring the victory in the Pepsi 400!”
Gives me goosebumps and tears of Joy to this day
u forgot the voicecrack
But srsly same
I said that in the newest post :)'
DennyDelivers That moment was taken away from February (1-2 finish) and I’m glad to see teammates celebrating the healing moment
It sorta happened with me.
"TO THE OUTSIDE FOR THE LEAD IN TURN 4, DALE EARNHARDT JR ROCKETS TO THE FRONT AND LISTEN TO THE CROWD!!" - Allen Bestwick
I really think DEI could still be around today if Dale wasn't lost in the 2001 Daytona 500
Or Teresa didnt exist
Fish Productions or if dale wrote a will and gave his son the team or the eurys
I think Jr would've been a champion if he was Gordon.
Agreed, or like some of the other answers, a will giving the team to jr or the Eurys. Theresa taking a long walk off a short shear cliff face...
True, but through JR Motorsports in my eyes the spirit of what Dale wanted the family business to be lives on. How many championships and wins do Jr and Kelly have as owners? Not just in NASCAR with their late model stuff too.
The beginning of the video that started off with Sr and Jr in that interview reminded me of an interview with them in the late 90s when they went to Japan and drove the coca cola cars and Jr had the polar bear on his car and Sr said Jr was a teddy bear.
I live 5 mins from the track I was about to turn 13 back in 2001 and I remember going outside after this race and you could hear the crowd cheering for Jr. Hearing 180,000 people all cheering will give you goosebumps.
That pepsi 400 has been giving me chills for 19 years now
I always wonder what the sport would be like today with Dale Sr.
I would say it would be better, but then safety may have taken longer to develop. Things happen for a reason
June Bug might have retired with a Championship or 2. Mikey might have stayed with DEI and won more.
@@Bsbl-xf2nq just think, Spin-gate may have never happened
Tennyson Whitty possibly, sadly enough it wasn’t even Dales death when NASCAR mandated the HANS device. It was in October 2001 when Blaise Alexander was killed in ARCA.
@@guido4lyfe91 oh wow it's sad that someone has to die for something to change. Happens way to much
If SR didn't pass away, YOU know that JR would had a Championship or 2. And maybe DEI would still around and maybe be an ELITE team. Such a shame...
Agree would’ve lifted a lot of stress off his back and the sport probably wouldn’t have become as different as it is today because sr. Wouldn’t of allowed bs. Hopefully they’d still advance safety Cuz I mean a driver died a few months before and they did nothing. P.s. I know you wrote 8 months ago sorry lol
Im a very emotional person and i wanted to cry a couple times but i held it back, the reason is my parent were Earnhardt Sr fans and looking back on it, even when i wasn't alive, and the moments you showed where my parents probably cried made me wanna cry. Thank you.
I remember in September 2001, motorsport worldwide was grieving for those who lost their lives in 9/11. I remember the first F1 race after the attacks, which took place in Monza just days after, several teams had some sort of tribute, usually depicting the American flag. The Ferrari team had probably the most simple yet moving tribute, a plain, sponsorless livery and a matte black nose cone, chosen as a mark of respect for the thousands who died
DEI would be a great team if he didn’t pass
And if that witch (Teresa Earnhardt) didn’t fuck up everything. Watch The Iceberg’s video on her, Iceberg explains the whole situation
ua-cam.com/video/iOFsevTN5eA/v-deo.html
Great watch
jonsmovies18fan YEP
that team was supposed to be Dale Jr’s
They would of easily won a few championships. Jr would of won a couple of them in the mid 2000s if he didnt run into bad luck at the end of 2 seasons
evan wallace he could’ve won in 03 04 and 06
What a rollercoaster of emotions from 2001!
Dale Sr’s Death, WCW was no more, and the Sept 11th attacks
Keep up the good work on this series Darian. I'm loving this so much, I had to go back to the first episode you made 6 months ago lol
So crazy to think I was there at Daytona in the stands with my dad watching Dale Jr. win the Pepsi 400 in 2001. I was 16, and came all the way from northeast Ohio to watch that race, the first and only time Ive been to Daytona. What a night.
Darian, As an longtime Dale Jr fan, I can see the pain he had to go through when he lost his legendary father, :(
Some of y'all young guys are really putting out great content, even for things that happened while you were babies. Keep up the good work, the AMT of research and work I imagine it takes for these types of things does not go unappreciated, thank you.
This was so informative and well put together I watched part 2 before I did part 1. Nicely done! I really enjoyed it, almost felt like I was watching a NASCAR Documentary on tv.
Wasn't at Daytona but was at that Dover race, I was 16. That was my favorite race ever at Dover and I seen all of Jeff's wins, & Jimmie's wins. The electric of the crowd was unmatched.
Thanks for taking the time to take pictures at Bristol. It was awesome meeting you!!
14:12 ....
"YES! YES!"
Chills.
What’s that song playing during the footage of dale jr during the Pepsi 400? Got me emotional man.
I still cannot believe how similar Jr's crash in Rockingham was to his father's the week before.
I was thinking that too, it also was at a much lower speed though.
if i went to the talladega race and saw the crash i would be worried as hell
Still get goosebumps from that Daytona win. I remember watching that race from a hotel with my brother and grand parents. Just couldn't believe how fast he was that night.
6 Months Later
Part 2
You can hear the pain in Mike Joy's voice when Dale Jr crashed at the Rock.
I failed to qualify for a lot of races in 2001.
Man I think a lot of us failed to qualify if you think about it
His season that year was pretty good given the circumstances. The second half of the year he had 3 wins and I had a great points finish. If the loss of Dale sr. didn’t happen would he have won a championship that year and perhaps more races. Looking back on his career this year was a year of what if and we saw the potential he had as a driver
This video and part 1 were so beautifully done. Thank you for this gift to the world my dude.
This was/is amazing I wish I could’ve been alive to see this
Didn't know about the win at Talladega as well. Wow.... What an emotion trip. Deep loss, and then get 3 wins, 2 of which your dad was an absolute master of? Amazing. Let alone the great job your teammates doing as well.
Well thanks for making me cry this morning. Jeez
Where's part 1?
Edit: nevermind found it
Where is part 1?

Jake sent me over here and told me to ask you this that I had been asking him. Can you do a Series or Continue the Drivers Last Multiple Win Seasons?
Mad respect to Dale Jr for how he managed his way through 2001 and beyond, but I always feel like I'm the only person who doesn't care about him winning that Pepsi 400. I don't feel the emotions that most people feel when they watch the final laps of that race. Nothing against y'all that do, but it wouldn't have made a difference to me whether he won or finished last.
Future uploads: NASCAR Busts: Andy Houston and Bad Seasons: Martin Truex Jr. 2013.
Truex didn’t have that bad of a season In 2013 compared to other bad seasons but Vickers and bowyer did cost him his ride
RIP Dale Sr.
2001 was a season that feels like it could have been scripted for a Days of Thunder-esque type of movie.
Love the name of this UA-cam channel “Black Flags Matter” LoL 😂.
I remember that second Daytona race. When I saw the 2nd and 3rd place cars were Waltrip and Sadler, I knew Jr was going to win. Both of those guys would push him to the win if given the chance, they knew how much he needed it.
For him being the big man embracing Sterling Marlin at Rockingham was class.
So.
I was rooting for Johnny Benson. Never cared much for the Earnhardts.
I've grown to appreciate Jr. as I've grown older and matured, but as a teenager I thought differently of him. Plus I was a Gordon fan, so there's that too. And that's not to say I didn't understand what this moment meant for the sport and what not. I totally do.
But I was rooting for that 10 car.
I've watched the final 10 laps of this race dozens of times and I still tear up just like I did 19 years ago.
Actually it was Sterling Marling in the #40 car who caused Dale's wreck
Just to point out that sr never drove for DEI...
You’re right. I think a lot of people forget that he finished his career, tragically, at RCR.
I got goosebumps while watching
I remember watching the Daytona 500 and I remember watching this race.
I’ll never understand how anyone can hate this guy
Dale Sr was RCR not DEI
DEI was Earnhardt's team, but he raced for RCR
Henrique Paladino Yea but Darian said 4 DEI cars at the beginning of the video. It was only 3.
I still find it in many ways ironic that Dale Senior had all those victories, and all those championships but was seemingly never the most popular driver in the sport (being booed after spinning out Terry Lebonte on the final lap of Bristol in 1999), yet after his passing in 2001, Dale Earnhardt Junior became the most popular driver to the fans, despite not matching the same heights as his father (in both race victories and championships). I guess popularity does not necessarily mean success on the race track
Amazing video friend
I hope you had fun at Bristol at the all star race. #lefty
Dad uploaded
Probably my favorite Dale Jr moment was the one and only time he drove the number 3 wrangler in the nationwide race and won
Aaaaaaaaaaa yes i have been waiting for this
Shockingly that Daytona race Jr won in 2001 was on July 7th does anyone know what that means does anyone know what happened that day just 1 year earlier
Make sure part three takes a full year to complete
The 2001 pepsi 400 makes me cry every time i watch it it is soo emotional
the week after sr dies jr crashes too imagine how people felt scared that it might have happened again
I started crying like a baby too emotional
There is just somthing about climbing out of a race car with a beer in your hand bad ass
Awesome Job, this was great.
I really love Dale Jr.'s 2001 Pepsi 400 scheme, while I wished Dale Jr. should have been the 2001 Winston Cup Series champion to avenge his father.
18:15 his best friend that season, Wilson makes an appearance
3 for dale!
What no I'm not crying my eyes are just sweating
@blackflagsmatter part 3 coming?
How come Jason Jacoby is still uploading on his channel even though he is arrested?
You can schedule videos to release, and he's probably out on bail or something.
If hearing that qualifying crowd cheer at the rock doesn't make you feel emotional, you dont have a soul
What special on NBCSN were the clips of Jr talking from?
It's a detailed overview about the 2001 season
Great video
You should do a good seasons video on Joey Logano for 2014
Bro it took so long for part 2
I was literally in tears through this whole video.
I always hear Richard is the best of all time of Dale is. I think it’s fair to say both are. Richards era was totally different. I know they raced together and overlapped but I think of Dale as the best for modern NASCAR. Well, this might be a hot take but I think JJ gives him a good run statistically. But dales just iconic. Does that make sense?
part 3 coming in 3 years
You need to do one on kenny schrader. Please!!!!!
New video 👀
Have Fred durst and Jr ever been seen in the same room together?
Steve Park won that race at Rockingham. So it wasnt that bad for DEI as a whole. At least one of his cars won
Part 3?
Aww he has his father’s number inside his car 4:56
What happened to Mike Helton is he no longer president of NASCAR you never see or hear him mentioned anymore
He still occupies the same position.
Where's part 3
How did it take half a year to upload the second part?!
Harvick:Bud-Busch era video when?
Never forget Wilson
Man i still tear up when I see the finish of that Pepsi 400
Stop the video on 18:56 if you don’t wannna see this emotional Budweiser commercial
WILLSON!!!
Dale Jr Was so emotional Bc He got the pole For 2001 Texas 500 After his father Dale Sr Was passed away in a crash w Ken Schrader of Daytona 500.
Damnit Hornaday, could’ve spun out anyone else but Jr. C’mon man.
Do a video of The Downfall of Kyle Larson
The number 3 wasn’t an DEI car. 🤦🏻♂️
First
Nevermind fourth
One of the worst beers ever...
