Dude you literally killed my review questions to a T. Wanted to know how proton stacked up against the other plastics, you mentioned it. Wanted to pick it up to replace my teebird, you said it fit the bill perfectly. Great quality review! Thanks for all the info
As soon as I heard James Conrad switched over to MVP and he was using the Volt, I immediately bought one. Mine does happen to be pretty overstable which is really nice but it cant travel as far as my Westside Longbowman. However, I hope it will beat in nicely before my first amateur tournament.
Good review, Matt. As a newer disc golfer with slower arm speed (currently my max distance is about 250ft/76m), I can confirm that the Neutron Volt I have is quite overstable with a strong fade and always fights out of an anhyzer release for me. I like having it in the bag for special shots bending around obstacles where I need it to curve relatively early in the flight. As I continue to improve technique and arm speed, I can see this disc being a workhorse of a fairway driver.
Great review. Love the volt. I have two plasma one new and one 2 years old. And a flippy james. I li e them all amd they all fly slightly different and I need all of them for certain lines. It's such a consistent fairway. Good on ya mate.
Thanks for the content, I appreciate you putting out the word on MVP. I'm also an MVP fan and the Volt is my favorite disc by far. I have a used 174g first version Proton Volt that I don't throw anymore and am happy to send it to you if you like, just let me know. I rely on my Neutrons and an Electron that I use only when it rains. Its a super versatile disc.
I bought a Cosmic Neutron Volt not knowing that the cosmic mold is basically a Terra. Mine brand new flew like 8/5/0/3. I went out and got an electron Volt and it was great for about a month and then it got too flippy.
i just got myself proton volt and i think i need keep it my sidearm disc for bit to it beats in its bit too beefy for my backhand atm. still like feel of it and it has bit more pushing hyzer out than FX2 i bag
I didn’t like my volt when I first bought it.. it was pretty overstable for me. I used it for forehands but as I beat it in it became more stable and I love it now. My go to disc. (Had cosmic neutron)
My Neutron Volt is still crazy overstable. Picked up a new proton Volt the other day and I'm really liking it. Reminds me of the one I lost - nice straight flight with a left fading finish.
Hey, I love the photon! And I totally agree with you about it being really user-friendly for lower speed arms in the lighter weights, my question to you is I would love for you to do a comparison on the crave versus the virus. I love my axiom and MVP just as much as anyone but I'm really not seeing that much of a difference between the craves and the virus
@@DiscGolfDownUnder I have a assortment of craves and just picked up a 153 g vision. I do not have very much variety in the viruses I have. I know that slower speed discs tend to be more understable and that's why I asked the question so I will be interested in watching your video
Why is the Volt marketed as an 18mm rim driver, when both PDGA and Infinite Discs have it listed at 20mm? From a brief side by side comparison, the rim of my Volt is closer to a Musket than an Explorer.
I've noticed that a lot when reviewing MVP discs - the web site is slightly different to what the PDGA certificate shows. I guess the PDGA check and measure a prototype sample. I've tried measuring myself and the number does vary depending on how you measure the rim. I also wonder how much leeway manufacturers have in tweaking their moulds after the prototype is approved.
It's hard to find any MVP discs at the moment except for the Envy, Hex and Insanity. I guess that's what happens when your sponsored player becomes World Champ.
Hi James, I'm loving MVP/Axiom for mids and putters but I'm having trouble once I step up to fairway/drivers they seem to be way more stable. For example my teebird is 172 and I can get full flight but the same weight volt seems to beefy and feels to take more power. Do you tend to go lighter for MVP discs? The weights for innova/discraft tend to be 175g mid/putters, 171-173 fairway, 168-170 distance. Thanks for the feedback. I enjoy your content..
Since MVP started manufacturing in house a couple of years ago, I've found that there discs are more stable. A Volt made 2 or 3 years ago was much straighter than the current batch.
I just picked up an electron volt from my local shop and I really enjoy it, although I noticed that the flight ratings are 8 5 -2 1.5. Do you know if it’s a misprint? It flies like 8,5,-.5,1.5
Electron plastic seasons in faster and becomes understable much faster than other discs. Haven't thrown an Electron Volt but I'd say the numbers on the disc sound about right. I'd expect it to be laser straight.
I am looking for a slower speed Boss alternative for my local courses that arent as big. I purchased this with that goal in mind. From your perspective, do you think this would be an accurate judgement?
@@DiscGolfDownUnder awesome! I actually just got the plasma volt yesterday and tried it on a few tosses. Can confirm, does what a low speed boss might do :). I also tried the blizzard boss a while back and can say the same, very flippy. Thanks for the great video btw! You do good work 👍.
You don't have any association with disc golf retailers, yet you wear a shirt promoting a retailer? I feel comfortable in knowing that no retailer or manufacturer is involved in your reviews, but it sounds like a strange claim while wearing the shirt. Just wanted to point out that slight confusion. Thanks for good content, I'm enjoying it a lot!
Haha, that's a NSW Disc Golf shirt. As in New South Wales - the most populous state in Australia. Definitely not a retailer. Check em out: nswdiscgolf.com/
I hope you get sponsored by MVP some day, you give some quality reviews.
Another excellent review, thanks Matt. I’m happy to bag a “Bendy James” volt, a very useful disc for me.

I feel like this is one of the best formatted videos I’ve watch in a while, can’t wait for the next video🙌🏻🙌🏻
I have one of the old dommy proton volts and its amazing!
Very informative! MVP needs to be paying you via new discs!! Keep the videos coming.

I have an old Electron Volt that has beat in to a stable roller disc. Pair that off with a beat in Plasma and you have a one disc, all shots wonder
Excellent production quality, I'm impressed! Great review for a great disc!

Thanks so much for the offer and kind words. However, I'm fully restocked on Volts now. Love the Volt - nothing else like it in the MVP range.
Fantastic disc. Thanks for the video

Crave review is coming up soon. None of my Craves fly anything like my Virus. What weight and plastic Crave do you have? Fission perhaps?

i rely on volts having a heck of time finding any for sale this year

Awesome review! How was the Proton volt for you? Similar to the Neutron in terms of flight characteristics?
The Proton Volt for me is in between the Neutron and Plasma. There's just something about the latest run of Neutron Volts that make them super beefy.

according to the numbers the electron should be even straighter

I think they print different and probably more correct numbers for the electron plastic runs
@@brianhurlow4506 yea, the electron is definitely more understandable than my plasma volt. It flys like a faster relay for reference.

I'd say the beefy Volts like my Neutron would be similar to a lower speed Boss. I used to have a Blizzard Boss but that thing was crazy flippy.

I got a bunch of different volts. I lovebthem but I just keep 1 tesla over the volts
I have to say I'm liking my Tesla more and more each time I throw it.

Conrad loved it so much that he designed the Terra to replace the Volt.... lol
The Terra is a better disc I agree. Will be doing a review on it soon. Just wish the damn rain would stop. It's been raining here for months.
