My grandparents lived in a snowy area in Japan. Some houses there have an entry door on the second floor, which looks weird in summer, but in winter it makes sense as snow blocks entry way on the first floor. Snow fallen on the side can pile up as high as the roof and when I was a kid, I liked to sled from the rooftop.

Could you explain why they put so much effort to remove snow from the roof? it seems a lot of work, and it creates huge hills of snow near the house, against the windows, it must be a huge work to remove it a second time...
Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! After the first storm of the year this has exceeded expectations! It throws snow very well, even 10-12” + that said the more it piles up the harder it is to maneuver the machine. It is exceptionally light weight and overall exactly what I was looking for. If you have a large amount of snow and a lot of area to clear, you may consider something with a drive engine to help maneuverability, but for decks, second stories, roofs etc, you can’t beat the light weight to great snow throwing ratio. Side note, the chute rotator is a bit flimsy and it initially didn’t seem to work, after a few uses it seems to have loosened up.
It's Japanese, but it snows not only in the north (Hokkaido and Tohoku) but also in the central areas. Well, the amount in the north is amazing though. If you want to see snow in Japan, it's Hokkaido or Tohoku.
@@hir3508 No-one else in Japan can understand Tohoku dialect. They say it's because Tohoku is so cold that people there avoid opening their mouths when they talk!

I really wanted to live in snowy areas... but seeing that snow builds up and I have to remove them or else they might collapse on my house. Maybe not anymore
your house collapsing from it doesn't really happen outside poor areas. usually houses have roofs sloped enough so that if too much snow piles up it falls off.
Lots of places get snow, but don't get enough to require shoveling the roof. And in some places, they make the roofs slopes enough (think alpine cottage) that it slides off if there's a lot of it. You do have to be a little more safety-conscious in cold weather places though. Wear layers, not just one big thick layer, because if you overheat and you take off that one big layer, you'll freezer in your own sweat. Wear synthetic or wool layers in addition to your cotton, because they'll keep your warm while wet, unlike cotton. When you drive places, make sure your car is fueled up for the trip, check the forecast for snow, and bring kitty litter (for traction under your tires if your get stuck), a shovel, road flares, a warm blanket, warm clothing (even if you're planning to just go from one warm place to another), and snacks. Make sure your phone is charged and you've downloaded the maps, and don't take shortcuts. Learn how to use mittens. If you wear gloves, learn how to pull your fingers inside them so they warm up, then put them out into the glove fingers again when warm or your need to use your hands. Wear a good hat (that covers your ears) and good boots. Help your neighbors and stranded people when you can, because tomorrow you'll need help.
Where I live we never bother to remove the snow from our roofs, they are built to take the load. In fact, they have struts built on top of them to prevent the snow from going off. The snow also provides some extra insulation for the cold winter months.

I have cleared a foot or two off the roof in Manitoba Canada but nothing like most of these. Whoever is clearing snow off the roof have to be very careful that they do not fall off the roof or be in the line of fire as the snow comes down as there is quite a bit of weight there. These are a great example of problem solving for a common problem to save the roof from caving in from too much weight.

I lived in the Great Lakes region of the US so a lot of snow. A trick I learned so it's not so much work is just to stay a few steps ahead of the snowfall.
Our house has a hidden faster metal roof that the snow slides before large amounts accumulate. It only has a 3/12 pitch and we get a a lot of snow and never had a problem. We also have a remote cabin with most of the roof an 18/12 pitch that never holds more than a few inches of snow. That places gets many feet every winter. ヒモ引っ張るやつ?パワー要りそうやけど効率いいなw
It is interesting to see how they remove all this snow on the ground
using snowplows, most likely, but it already melts like crazy
I like this
I didn't see snow in real life yet...
I wish i could play with it one day...❤

I like snow a hell lot, specially those cold silent winter nights and you hear the sound of snowfall outside. Shimmi shimm
Every time they do that they’re thinking, “There has to be a better way.”
Erect a roof size conveyor belt on each side set to come on every ten minutes when it snows.
Or build much steeper roofs.
@@anonimushbosh
Even A-frames collect snow. Any steeper and the roof becomes a wall. 🙃
@@MrAudienceMember2662015 True, but some of those roofs were nearly flat.
I like the texture of the snow in my hand. I love snow.
Is there any job openings for this, I really love doin it
I guarantee you are an indian

This is oddly very pleasing to watch but I am grateful to live in Florida, USA. :)
Removing snow from a roof is hard work but removing it from the ground is 5 times harder.
I Love both. But in my country there is not much snow
this is a very satisfying video to watch
Watching from Philippines, we don't have snow but we have hailstorms hahahahaha
tae HAHAHA pag lumabas ka dosigurads bukol abot mo eh
Oh no! Hail is awful.
I am happy to see the snow. What a nature !
Their homes and roofs are strong af to bear such weight of thick snow
Roof shovel is the best investment in snow tools I've gotten. Paid $75 for it. Worth every penny.
0:26 i fall in love with the dog, so cuuuuuteeee i wanna hug but i can't :(
等身大の雪のブロックで落としてるやつほんとすごいな!でかいわりには軽々しく動かしてるね。爽快だわ
O inverno neste lugar e rigoroso. Amei o vídeo. Pena que aqui não tem neve. Eu só conheço por vídeo.
Espero um dia ter a experiência de ficar num lugar assim.
My heart goes out to these people.
I actually don't mind a foot or so buildup on the roof. it acts as a blanket to help keep the heat in the house.
Woow....I want to enjoy in such a lovely snow ....people who are born in snowy place thinks that you are lucky...me....I'm born in desert.....no rain...only sometimes
😍😍 it look so yummy ... My mouth is watering .. i need this snow .. 🤤🤤🤤

It's satisfying for some reason
Sometimes, we need to get a vacation to the snowy country. But still i will feel comfortable living in tropical climate country for a long time..
Utube recomended it to me because winter is coming.
1st - clear snow from roof
2nd - clear snow from windows and doors (snow that was cleared earlier from rooftop)
So much work
For the people who live in equator : I want to do this, but I can't.
Yeah😂😂
Impressive amounts of snow, have to be strong and careful cleaning those roofs. Most be a wonderful skiing area 🏂☃️
When i was a little girl, my dream is to dive and swim into the snow.
horrible dream, it feels awful unless you're burning.
Very glad I live in North Texas.
There isn't enough money in the world to convince me to climb up onto that high roof like those two dudes did to start shoveling at 2:14 !
sweeter are the melodies...those unheard 😎
these people love the hot sunny days whereas we north Indians (Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, U.P) always eager to visit snow
“Sooo you have snow in you’re driveway” you can’t show up to work? 😂😂😂
after watching a few of these videos I've come to the conclusion that the old rope trick is the best.
So satisfying
Why is this so satisfying i wanna see snow IRL
That lools super heavy. How do the structure s support it for so long ???
It gets dangerous when rain falls on a big layer of snow.
@@mweskamppp why
@@janasheenhaider3941 The snow holds the water. I can become so heavy that it breaks the roof.
@@mweskamppp oh
Usually roofs of such building are designed for taking snow load
It´s so beautiful. Possibly in Hokkaido, right? Greetings from the warm Brazil.
Me sitting in tropical region:
Lol u don't have match box?🤔
😂😂
I'm a bit confused. unless you're giving up and burning your house down then why?
Как много снежка красивого нападало,хорошо его очищать,так интересно .Красивая -зима время года
Moro num país tropical mas gostaria de ver neve. Acho lindo
So nice of snow looking vlog so beautifull my fevrite snow
Steeper roofs prevent excessive snow accumulation.
They all suck since you can easily build the roof with non stick materials and enough angle so the snow slide off when it becomes say 4 inches thick...Yes i live in Norway, yes we have lots of snow and yes it works very well.
Just build a vibrating roof. The snow will tumble down in no times.
Since it is Japan, they have that built into the ground. No additional equipment needed and no installation costs.
@@Angel9932
That would bring the house down. 🤐
@2:17. Those are some cool party hats. My dad used to wear a lamp shade on his head every New Year's Eve. Stayed in the house though.
South African here, why dont you just have heated rooftops? Like you have underfloor central heating, just move it up a level and warm the attics??
Not everyone could afford that bro
The attics aren't insulated, so the energy cost will be insane.
Maybe first let’s get off the oil and gas most of these houses are burning for heat. Then consider heating the snow of the roof.
How these roofs don’t cave in is beyond a miracle! They should have those tin roofs that snow slides off!!
0:51 so fluffy 😍
Fluffy lmfao it's wet and mushy when you touch it

I want this job just to feel snow for the first time
love ow the snow is so crisp and clean blocks
Lesson remove snow everyday. Clean you house everyday without fail or you will get buried under it.
or just get a decent house and ignore the snow.
Nice, I live in Cornwall, uk, we don't have snow very often and when we do it is only an inch or two and it has melted the next day. only once have I seen deep snow here and that was back in the 80's, clearing the snow looks like fun.
1:32 i want one of those, but i live in a tropical country
They have to face so much difficulties
Life's so hard there
Snowfall used to seem just fun to me before...😅
