that new song is killer. very slow core/ shoegazey. shows that they still have an interest in making less technical noise rock-ish music alongside highly technical prog. also probably not a cover of lazy by low, there are some similarities but there are some obvious differences that make it a totally different song
I love it and I think it's exactly the kind of track the next album needs to keep it from being a Hellfire pt.2. It sounds way too considered and takes up too much of the set to be a cover imo. The whole bit where Cam's playing with the feedback on the bass works so well and feels so 'black midi' that I don't think they'd waste that on a one-off cover.
@@Jacorpes i mean the band just likes to improvise and jam on stage even amidst covers and other bits between songs, and knowing how skilled they are at playing I wouldn't be surprised if Cam came up with that on the spot tbh
@@samdrury2896 It's not. It sounds completely different to Lazy. It has a different riff, it's in a different key, and it has different lyrics and progression.
@@samdrury2896 Are you sure you don’t mean ‘Cut’ off the same record? The main riff they’re playing is basically a dead ringer for that song except they’re playing it slower. And I don’t think they’re covering it, for reasons commenters have already noted, I think it’s just an interpolation of the main riff.

im sure you figured it out by now but i think he strums E D C# for a bit and then adds an A after a couple seconds, so I guess the isolated chord is something like A add4? not sure what you would call it taking into account the E in the bass.
Every bootleg I've heard of EME and even when I saw them live he's pretty much done it the same way - straight sixteenths instead of dotted eighths (i think?)
its cool if u don't like the music but 'pretentious' is a pretty meaningless word. as for why i like them i just find that they have a sound and energy that i can't get from any other band, and they have the ability & willingness to pull off ridiculous, genuinely unexpected musical ideas which i find very entertaining. i also think they just have great musicality for an ''''avant-''''whatever band - if you break apart a track there are usually pretty great, catchy riffs/basslines/drum grooves all over. tl;dr i like how they sound and there's no one else competing for the same niche
They just tryna get as many different songs as possible into John L now 💀
the 3 man shows have an unbelievable power about them
honey where is my super suit
lights guy is the fourth member of the band

I feel like it's pretty safe to say they're referring to it as Crazy Eyes. Also yeah it's fucking sick
It sounds a bit more traditionally post-rock, which would be a really interesting direction for the band to take imo
Cameron’s vocals on Unknown Song are amazing. Very Jeff-Buckleyish in the beginning.
Super buckleyish. I can hear both of them in this one
Love how they snuck in a Warmduscher cover into Near DT. These boys truly are the best band in the world
which one ?
@@Torrforr Big Wilma. I've always thought the rifs were similar, it's funny that they do too!
Viagra boys are the best band in the world right now but black midi is a close 2nd
@@Jacorpes I thought I was the only one who saw some similarities, I can imagine Greep doing vocals on "I got friends" lmao
@@podfruwajk4 black midi would do such a goo I Got Friends cover. That song is basically Warmduscher's bmbmbm.
Probably the most spot on lights I've seen for the band!
pretty sure this gig made me contract tinnitus but it was worth it.
Mamma mia from Abba was slotted in at the very end. So was Money Money Money.
JOHN reeLin in the years
that performance of 953 is brutal
this is the best crowd i ever seen, man look this, it fits with the music perfecly

It's a cover of Lazy by Low ☺️
@@samdrury2896 oh nice!

The tune sounds like Alice Cooper's I Love The Dead to me (apart from the funny shouty bit).

the other cover in the john L interlude bit is from reelin' in the years by steely dan! (at least part of it is)
The La's > Steely Dan > Abba
Thank you for the upload! It was a fun concert, the floor was shaking with the people throughout 😆
No bmbmbm to close, although sure seemed to be headed that way...
Great sounding set. Thanks for sharing.
I think I was stood right next to you. Absolutely classic black midi gig. Thanks for uploading!
nmrl eu preciso ver esses mano ao vivo

No i believe that's Gay Adam
in john L they also played reeling in the years by steely dan

What is the name of the song?
@ryan stanlee Thanks dude.
i wouldn’t be so sure - the lyrics are completely different and while the riff is kinda similar i don’t think it’s a cover
I hope it’s not a cover because it’s great!
Unknown is basically the riff from Alice Cooper's I Love The Dead, no idea if this was the intention though.
THIS CROWD OMG SO GOOD
craziest show ever
honey, where is my super suit? i miss them
holy hell chondro rips

Tryna transcribe the new song, if anyone knows what chord Geordie is playing at 1:05:02 pls let me know

If anyone can spot someone with long brown hair in a white long sleeved shirt that's me cheers
are you that maniac that kept screaming really loud
@@blackmanjon226-mineraftfne3 yea
The catchiest line in the whole album is probably when he says “eat men eat” I’m not sure why he completely fucks up the delivery of it every show
I disagree but remember that they always try to play every song different from the album version

do caralho esse show!
If you see a guy crowd surf multiple times throughout the gig that me lmao
They're like the new bungle/primus or something. Incredible technique.
No offence to the keyboardist and saxophonist who play with them but these last two albums work so much better performed stripped back as a 3 piece
So much better without the saxophone .... (Unpopular opinion?)
hard disagree. kaidi brings life to their live performances.
i did not know women could be fans of black midi
