  • Hello fiends,
    In today's video, we are going to learn to make a tesla coil for wireless transfer of electricity. A Tesla coil is an electrical resonant transformer circuit designed by inventor Nikola Tesla in 1891. Tesla coils can be used for wireless transfer of electricity. It is used to produce high-voltage, low-current, high-frequency alternating-current electricity. A fluorescent lamp lights up when brought near the tesla coil. This is due toe the flow of electrons in the lamp which is caused by the high voltage generated by the tesla coil.
    Parts needed for making tesla coil
    1. 2N2222 NPN transistor
    2. Enameled copper wire , 20-28SWG, 10 metres length.
    3. 2.2 kilo ohm resistor
    4. 9V battery
    You can watch this video and learn step by step, how to make a tesla coil.

      Hi friend. The transitor will heat up so much because it handles a large amount of current through it and hence this is normal. Make sure the connections are correct. Also, the battery gets discharged very fast in this circuit. So ensure that you are using well charged batteries. Also the bulb has to be brough near the coil in different ways and at one orientation, it will glow up..

    • @Science_4U_

      Hi friend, You can buy any wire size from 20 awg to 28 awg.

    • @Science_4U_
      @Science_4U_  Рік тому +3

      For lower than 20 awg, wire diameter will be more. So making around 300 turns will take lot of space..

    • @Science_4U_
      @Science_4U_  Рік тому +3

      If you buy wire higher than 28 awg, the wire diameter will be too thin. So winding will be very difficult..

      Hi friend..The tesla coil works by generating very high voltage. A CFL bulb has a phosphor coating which when brought near the tesla coil generates electrons due to the high voltage by tesla coil. This flow of electrons causes a glow of light. Hi friend, the tesla coil that you had made should have definitely worked, if you followed the same instructions as shown in the video. But from my experience also, it is not very easy to work. You will have to try with several CFL bulbs, move CFL bulb near and far away from the tesla coil. At some point bulb will glow. Also please note that battery gets drained very fast. So you can try with a higher capacity battery which is fully charged. Also please check if transistor is in good condition and working. Try with another transistor and see if it works.

      @Science_4U_  11 місяців тому +1

      @jokhosa332 Hi friend. Tesla coil is definitely a woking project. But some people don't get it working in the first attempt. This is due to following factors.
      1. The winding of the coil should be very good with atleast 250-300 turns.
      The battery drains very fast. So we have to use a high capacity battery.
      This tesla coil works by generating high voltage spikes, which causes electrons to flow in phosphor coatings in bulbs. So in my understanding, it is better to use CFL bulbs which have this phosphor coating. It may not glow at first, because the tesla coil that we make are not very powerful. But you can bring the CFL bulb near the tesla coil, rotate in several direction and at one instant, the bulb will glow..

    What is the diameter of this 20 -28 swg wire

    • @Science_4U_
      @Science_4U_  Рік тому +1

      20 swg = 0.914 mm diameter
      28 swg= 0.3759mm diameter..
      Though I have mentioned 20 to 28 swg wire,
      24 to 26 swg will be best suitable for this project. 24swg is 0.559mm diameter and 26swg is 0.4572mm diameter...

      Hi friend. In this circuit, the transistor gets really hot because it handles all the current that goes through the tesla coil. So we should not keep it switched on for long. Also check the resistance value and the connections. Also which bulb are you using?. A CFL bulb or any fllourescent bulb only will work for this project.

      Hi friend..it will work. You have to make around 250-300 turns for it to work properly. Also, the CFL bulb has to be brought near it in different orientations..in one particular orientation, it will light up. Also please check the transistor if it is heating up. If it is heating up, then it is working. Also use new battery. It will get discharged very fast.

    • @Science_4U_
      @Science_4U_  9 місяців тому +1

      Hmm..okay friend. This is actually a working circuit only. But it is a bit difficult to make it work. Have you used CFL bulb only?. You will have to bring the bulb near the tesla coil multiple times in different orientations and in one particular orientation, the bulb will glow up.
      Is your transistor heating up?. If not, then it is faulty.
      Also, check battery. The battery should be fullly charged to get good voltage output from the tesla coil.

    • @Science_4U_
      @Science_4U_  9 місяців тому +1

      @Lacx_gt Hmm.. okay friend. The 2N2222 transistor is supposed to get very hot since it is handling large current in the circuit. Either the connection is wrong or the transistor is faulty. If you are sure that the connection is correct, then I think replacing the transistor should solve the problem.

    • @Science_4U_
      @Science_4U_  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi friend. It is a working project only. But it is a bit difficult to make it work in the first attempt itself. You have to take care of many things.
      1. You have to use CFL bulb only.
      2. The battery gets discharged very fast. So use a high capacity battery with at least 9-12 volts.
      3. The CFL bulb has to be brought near the coil in different orientations. During initial attempts, the bulb may not light up. But at one particular time, it will light up. This was my experience.
