Landslide Lake on the Elk River Trail in Strathcona Provincial Park on Vancouver Island. You will need to give your friend Forestry Forest a call to tackle the stunning Mount Colonel Foster, a more challenging mountain if you are a beginner. Strathcona is a cool park, since you can do some pretty awesome traverses that most people don’t do, as they involve route finding and some logistical challenges. For example, you can hike Bedwell Lakes up to Cream Lake, then up and over Mount Septimus down to Love Lake, Della Falls and down and out via Great Central Lake (either get picked up by a water taxi, or if you are particularly adventurous, have them drop of your canoe or kayak of choice so you can paddle back yourself). There are other amazing traverses that I’ve heard about from locals who live in Campbell River also (some that start at the Buttle Lake side and exist via the Forbidden Plateau side). I would also recommend a multiday adventure to get to and climb the Golden Hinde, Vancouver Island’s highest peak (Forest would love that one). Nice thing about Strathcona Provincial Park is that you don’t need reservations for most backcountry camping. Another adventure you might be interested in on the island are the Tachu, Nootka, and Hesquiat trail trio… just need to arrange logistics in terms of how to get from one trail to the other via either sea plane or boat taxis to do all three in a row, one after the other. These would be tackled from Gold River (or Tahsis if you are looking to start Tachu via boat and transfer over to Nootka with a boat taxi vs float plane). For someone like yourself, I would highly recommend an adventure like this! Still waiting for you to tackle the GDT… the most legendary and beautiful trail in our backyard, in my opinion. Just be careful, someone’s dog died on it last year, from exhaustion I presume. And the mighty Assiniboine… nothing beats the tops of Mountains. I’ve done a ton of hiking, but my heart will always be in the mountains, and climbing them. Nothing better than that in life, period. Stay safe! Love your content, as always! Keep pushing your limits!
For Berg Lake, the second lake you didn’t quite get to… eventually that little trail that hugs the lake through the branches disappears and you need to go down towards the stream that connects Berg Lake to Landslide Lake, from there, I just followed the stream up until it got steeper and found some flagging tape on climber’s left of the river. I essentially just went up the river, rock hoping. Super fun! Did this in early spring when Berg was ice covered and snow might have covered potentially thin trails. Turning around was probably best, the rock is incredibly slippery in those conditions and the trail does in essence “disappear”. Congrats on being out there in conditions that most people wouldn’t bother camping in… love that about you. You are a great role model for others!

I would have turned around too. Wet slippery rocks in the dark are dicey. Amazing scenery. Nice hike.😄🥰❤ Glad you didn't run into any vicious dogs off leash. Those people are whackos.
What an inspiring solo adventure in the stunning rain-soaked forests of Vancouver Island! Your resilience hiking through heavy rain and setting up camp in the backcountry truly captures the beauty and challenge of fall camping in British Columbia. It’s amazing how you and Kyro tackled this 19-mile hike together, braving the elements to enjoy the peaceful, misty landscape. Can’t wait to see what’s next on your journey! 🌲🐾🌧
What beautiful scenery! 6:40 I wonder if the two vicious dogs were with anyone, or lose? It's so much fun to go along with Madison. The way she films, you feel like you're there with her, and I love that. I'm far too scared to do what she does - not to mention, out of shape, but I live vicariously through her. I love seeing the love between Madison and Kyro. 12:37 I do the same thing with my dog. She loves it. Safe travels. Thumbs up! Beth in Raleigh, NC ♥

Next year to Vancouver, Vancouver Island is also on the list. But as Dutch I have only 3-4 weeks holiday per year and Canada is so huge I must make decissions.
