To elaborate slightly on the aim of reading in short bursts as and when you can: I have my minimum 15-30 minutes daily reading session but I also read in every lunch break, commute, before bed etc. Reading and learning are woven into the fabric of my daily existence! Plus now and then I do of course find bigger chunks of time. And in those windows I devour books.
Reading in spurts makes reading in spurts easier over time: the mind lapses quicker into narrative depth. Then, too, the literature sways through the daily motions with you, a softer cadence to brush aside stony chatter-internet, work, reflexive, and stressful chatter. Solid advice, my friend. Brilliant is another way to wade in, maybe, to gentler waters, to float awhile when reading is less tenable (with too much background noise, perhaps). I'm glad you're sponsored by them. And I'm glad you're opening yourself more and more to science, philosophy (your summation of the continental-analytic divide was perfect), and general intellectual novelty of a more rigorous, rigid sort. There are wonders to be attained at the top of such stiff scaffolding. Keep going; it makes returning to 'looser' grounds into a stable landing.
You have definitely inspired me to delve deeper into science and philosophy of science through your excellent explications of various books from those fields! As someone once said (was it Sherlock Holmes?), “you’re a gentleman and a scholar.”
There are many ways to make more reading time! How do you guys do it when you're busy? Are you satisfied with how much time you spend reading and learning?
