In this episode Mridula Ramkumar shares her experience of clearing the GPAT exam and studying MS Pharmacoinformatics at NIPER, Mohali, her experience and the career opportunities after completing the course.
The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) Mohali offers Pharmacoinformatics which is an interdisciplinary field that combines principles of pharmaceutical sciences and information technology to facilitate drug discovery, development, and optimisation.
The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including molecular modeling, chemoinformatics, bioinformatics, computational chemistry, drug design and discovery, pharmacogenomics, and data mining. Students learn about databases and software used in drug research, molecular dynamics simulations, structure-based drug design, ligand-based drug design, and quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) analysis.
Students gain hands-on experience with various software tools and programming languages commonly used in the field, such as Python, R, and molecular modeling software packages.
Upon successful completion of the Pharmacoinformatics course at NIPER Mohali, graduates can pursue careers in pharmaceutical industries, research organisations, academic institutions, regulatory agencies, and healthcare sectors.

Best thing about NIPER is that you can do a variety of research work including 3D printing, while sticking to the pharmaceutical domain. And the lab facilities here are absolutely amazing. I am currently doing my masters from NIPER Guwahati and feel really lucky to be a part of this Institute.
