- When something has hype and buzz, there is always something that gets hated on. In this case, it is Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders and today, I want to talk about why. We will go through his backstory, his time in college and the various reasons many think he is the most hated player in college football right now, enjoy!

Shedeur has been getting his hide chewed for a long time by his coach. He is a child prodigy. It comes with its wows. Shedeur has to come into his own. His personality, give him time. He's never been on his own. God's not through with him yet. AMEN
If you're a high-profile athlete in ANY sport and don't think you're the best, you don't belong in the pros. Nepotism is only hated when it doesn't involve them. If you're a dad and not your kids' biggest fan, especially in college, you should probably reevaluate your relationship with your kid. Brady, Manning, among others, has had arguments and yelled at players on the sideline. That's sports, but b 13:06 because it's Sanders, it's an issue. He'll be a first rounder easy, Daniel Jones college record was 3-5 his senior year.

Evaluating his decision making as a QB, I don’t see a first round pick. He’s unable to adapt and play for most NFL teams. Option routes he can’t adjust to. Furthermore misreading defenses.

As a USC fan but with my 2nd favorite team being CU since I lived in Colorado most my life (23 years) I have slowly started to dislike the buffs and its because of Deion and Shedeur mainly how they have carried themselves on and off the field. People want to say Deion is just an old school type of coach which I get the comparisons but his antics with what has been reported about how he has handled recruiting/transfer portal has been a thumbs down for me. The sport is different then when he was playing and he needs to adapt to it and not try to bring back the old ways cause it ain't gonna happen. The fact that he doesn't do in-home visits is pretty dumb tbh. And then Shedeur with his twitter situations about Xavier Smith was pretty dumb as well you just outed yourself saying you don't even take the time to be a good teammate to the players that aren't seeing the field. Even if you don't see the field you should at least know their name and build some rapport instead of acting a fool online. Not showing you are a good teammate its gonna bite you in the ass in the NFL especially with the vets. He's a great QB has all the tools but he needs to focus more on the game then flashing his watch at student sections and posting shit at halftime for NIL. All the things that people said about Caleb Williams should be pointed at Shedeur not Caleb.

A QB drop should be a precise, metered retreat from the LOS/snap. Sanders drop is so undisciplined, leaving his feet, hopping (on the drop) that its a crapshoot of consistency. When you focus on the outcomes of plays, rather than what develops before the ball passes the LOS, you miss out on the true product on the field. Before he gets to the (easy) throw, he fails at the simple task of just executing the drop consistently. Its a passing foundation made of sand.
Also at play is how "good" a thrower can look when only throwing fast screens and quick game. Not to discount their efficacy (its what all offenses do and likely why QB fundamentals are so bad), but it gives a false impression that you have a legitimate QB and not just some guy playing Short Stop under center. The quick game is throwing route breaks under 8 yards. He doesn't have to read the defense, the QB just has to read 1 defender to determine who he throws to. Not much to process. These are money throws and should make any QB look good. Where you want to judge a QB is how they process 5-step (and rare 7-step) routes, where you have to know where the holes / open grass are based on leverage of the defensive coverage on the route concepts you're running. This is where Sheduer falls apart.
This is absolutely and completely unfactual.. top of a drop doesn't matter as long as his feet are in sync with his routes and timing. You are completely talking out of your ass bc most of the completions are 2 to 3 level reads bc of protection break downs. They only ran quick game in the beginning of the season because they could not get any run production because of the offensive line. Then when they changed offensive coordinators they tried to establish the run but that didn't work the offensive line couldn't get any push. I genuinely think you just said a bunch of s*** to sound intelligent and none of it makes no sense. Extending plays, making on time throws in the worst of offensive lines and he thrived. You cannot throw the 3700 yards alone off quick game as once you shut down slants and screens, the scheme doesn't work. And you can't say it's decision-making bc he only threw three picks.At some point you have to get to your progressions. And if we are going with his footwork he has some of the better footwork than his counterparts. Does he's hold on to the ball a bit? Yes but play going through your progressions is more of a willingness to allow the play to develop under chaos bc that's what a competent QB does. I'm not going to kill him for that when 80% of the time he's making the right play under duress. If I didn't read this whole thing I actually would have thought you were making a coherent statement but none of this at all contrary to the facts stats and film.

Not throwing picks + taking sacks isn't signs of "good decision making" for someone whose job it is to get the football to other players. I even explained WHY he "holds on to the ball too long".
*In 2023 Shedeur DID NOT throw between the numbers greater than 8 yards* (unless it was a busted coverage where the receiver had yards of separation, 'throwing the post vs 2-high"). These are the NFL-type throws (digs, levels, cross, etc) where you fit the ball into tight spaces behind the linebackers

The bottom line is he isn't a good quarterback. I articulated WHY, its his poor fundamentals which sabotages the player from any consistent success.

Other QB analysts have stated that his fundamentals are great.
The NFL scouts will make their assessments..since they're the ones who will be investing in Shedeurs.
He has a pretty good QB coach that Juju Lewis, Cam Ward, and others are getting training from.

"My Assessment" is basic football 101. You don't need a Masters Degree to add 1+1. The fundamentals of the position he is not good at. Consequently, this compounds his challenges at "big boy" DI football, let alone any NFL competition. Throwing fast screens and shallow crossers is NOT evidence of being a good Quarterback (you don't even need to know how the defense is leveraged to make these throws). A baseball Short Stop can do the exact same thing. The problem with this is that if you aren't an elite athlete (ala Michael Vick), this simply won't work against opponents
Paris was an NIL deal he can absolutely make every throw. And Carson beck is said to be the best quarterback this season but is also a check down king. Shedure definitely can throw into tight coverage. He also has great deep ball accuracy. the offense they had before pat took over gave the receivers option routes which actually didn’t have Sanders and his receivers on the same page.

His dad is a legend in the NFL and has a ton of respect amongst owners, players and the commissioner. You really don’t know how this works. How can you say they did little to nothing to improve AND say they lost some key players? They revamped the offensive and defensive line with proven and experienced talent, added more talent to the skill positions and the needed depth in case of injury. Of course it’s not a loaded roster but they definitely improved from last year’s team.
Who exactly was a key player they lost? Dylan Edwards who had ONE big game and was never heard of again? That’s a key player? Go look at the transfers that left Colorado and see how much they contributed to the team. Now compare that to the players they brought in from other P5 schools. Did they lose some nice depth pieces like Jaden Milliner Jones, Omarion Cooper, etc.? Of course they did but by any means they were not key players that were going to even start this season.
The offense was obviously pass first last year, in Edwards’ defense.
Shedeur is not the most hated player in CFB. There is plenty of CU Buffs hate due to hate for Coach Prime, Deion Sanders. Shedeur works hard, has high fb IQ and will be drafted in the first round -top 4 players in the ‘25 NFL draft.
