Thank you so much. Much easier to follow than the woocommerce tutorial about tax setting. I have a question: When I put item incl tax for 100€ and I sell it to Germany it would be 100€-19%, to Spain 100€-21%, Canary Island 100€-15% right? So can I set up 80€ regular price and add tax depending on shipping address AND hide it same as show price inclusive tax? I mean, depends on where the customer is the total price shows differently?
Hi there, yes that would be possible if I'm correct! Just try it out if the system does what you have in mind 😀 Don't forget to create different rows per country.
Hello Mat, so for example,- if i am selling from the NL to another EU counties and some in Asia, do i have to add all the countries in manually in the woocommerce - under tax - standard tax rates. Like you added NL in the video, do i add other countries there manually to where i ship my products?
Hi there! Thanks for your question. Well that depends. When you sell to other EU countries then yes, I would charge 21%. BTW. For abroad, I don’t know for sure, ask your accountant to be sure!
FYI: In the US, states are made up of counties (or other names such as Parrish). These are further made up of cities. Within a state, you could have different sales taxes among the various counties in that state AND then you may have additional sales tax adjustments by cities. Crazy, but that's the way it is.
Hi there! Thank you very much for explaining this, it is such a mystery for me as a guy from the Netherlands (Europe)! I have a question that is a bit extensive, if I open a store that is available worldwide, it means without restrictions from which country you buy. How do I set the tax on such a store website? It's impossible to set every tax in the world, I think that's crazy. What I read in the comments is that in that case it is only necessary to link the tax to the country of origin of the store, if I'm not mistaken? @@WPressDoctor If the POD sends the invoice, I don't need to worry about taxes in my products and website? I'm super confused about this, can you give a hint?
Yeah if they send the invoice straight to the customer, you have nothing to do with tax. If they send the invoice to you, you need to tax the products sold to the customer 👍🏻😀 Although I think I’m right, you should ask a local tax advisor about your business and taxes 💡
Hi there, well you can using a different approach. I havent tried it but in theory its possible you could use the compound tax feature to add an additional tax under a specific state for example... let me know if that could work.

Thanks for the video. I followed the tutorial and here is the issue I have. Price for online product is 100 USD. Someone from Europe, wants to buy the product with tax rate 10 %. What end users sees in the cart is NOT "100 USD incl 10 USD VAT". But strangely a user sees something like this "89 USD incl 8 USD VAT". How is that possible?

Hi, Even though i am your "medelander"😊 from NL, i will write in English. When i sell outside EU, the vat is 0% (exporting outside EU). As you, my products in Netherlands are displayed on website and cart incl. 21% vat. When i add a country without tax, and tax based on billing address, it displays the vat on checkout page as 0% but the total payment is not reduced with the 21% for customers in Netherlands. It still displays the full amount incl. 21% vat. When i do for other EU countries it is calculated okay with the total amount the same but the vat from the EU country and the subtotal reduced with the calculated vat. How to set for exporting countries, for example AE (United Arabic Emirates) where i should calculate 0% vat?
Hi there! Thank you for your question! Uhm it’s hard for me to say without actually seeing it work, can you send me your website to the@wpressdoctor.com? I can then take a look and maybe give you a call about what I think is the best solution here.
hi, how I can apply multi taxes on the same product, for example if there is 2 taxes on one product like Sales Tax and product Tax, if the sales tax is fix I simply can merge it at the product tax, but if the sales tax are varying based on the Zip code so it will be impossible, any advice? and is there any ways to apply taxes for category in place of product?
Hi Tariq, thanks for the question. This is something I did not explain very well in the video, sorry for that. It’s possible to add taxes per zip code or city, just go to the rows where you set taxes and change zip codes there. I think that should work. 😀
Thanks for your video but how Do you know what tax charge should be? For example I Not register Vat so still I need charge vat or is different tax I from 🇬🇧
Hi Daivaras, well that depends on your country. In my country you may earn money and you don’t have to pay the VAT taxes until you reach a certain amount (€20.000 for example). So you have to dig in and do research about that, I don’t know the rules of England 😀
@@WPressDoctor I understand that just I wondered until I reach limit of vat do I need charge some taxes or leave woocomerce tax empty until I reach vat limit?Thank you
Always count in the tax and after a month you wire it to another bank account. Then If you don’t have to pay it, you can keep it, but when you have to pay it, you got it in a separate account 😀

@@WPressDoctor That's actually what I wanted to hear. So I need to have a conversation with someone from tax affairs or with the client I work for. Thank you for your feedback. You have a follow-up from me with the bell on. :D
Yeah it’s the best way to make sure your doing everything legally. Take the government serious with taxes, it can get you in serious problems if you don’t 😀
UK, thank you so much not many go to the trouble of explaining it as well as you have.
Hi Heather! Thank you for your kind words, really appreciate it! I’m glad it was useful for you 😀 Have a great day and keep safe!
Hello! How about the sales tax reporting? How do I check the total sales tax per state in the Woo Commerce?
Hi there! Thanks for the question. That’s a good question. I have never looked for that. You could try diving in the WooCommerce reports and see if it’s in there?
It was very helpful! Thank you. 🙂
Hi Inbar! I’m glad it was helpful. Have a great day and stay safe!
Thanks a lot for the info but I have a doubt. How can I do to sell with tax included for normal customers and sell without tax to companies outside of my country?
Hi Juan! This might do the trick; create two tax rates (new rows) One Standard for the rest of the world, and one for your own country. Problem solved?
Hi, Is this better than activating the "WooCommerce Tax" plugin and letting it do everything automatically?
Hi DM! Well that depends. If you have a LOT of tax rules and states / cities countries, than it can save you a lot of work. If your like me in the Netherlands you only have 3 rules for the entire country. So it depends 👍🏻😀
@@WPressDoctor That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying that. Best wishes.
very good explanation.Thank you
Hi Peter! Thank you very much for letting me know, I really appreciate it 😀👍🏻 Have a nice day and stay safe!
Thank you, that helped a lot. good structured
Thank you very much Stefan! Really appreciate that you take some time off to write me a comment. I’m glad I could help you out!
Hi, thanks, great tutorial. For priority of taxes 1 is more than 2, or viceversa? Best
Hi Jose and thanks for the question! Yeah number 1 comes before number 2. 😀 You got it!
thanks! really helpful!
Hi there! Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it! I’m glad I could help you out with this tutorial. Have a great day and take care 👍🏻😀
Hi can you help me with a question, what id the store is pulling products from printful printify for example, how to deal with these taxes, what should be there, can you please give me a hint about this?
Hi Karla, thanks for the question. Well it depends on who is sending the invoice....
Great Help, Thank you for this, I just want to ask if I can put two tax classes in one product? if ever please create a tutorial about this.😊
Hi there, well you can using a different approach. I havent tried it but in theory its possible you could use the compound tax feature to add an additional tax under a specific state for example... let me know if that could work.
Thank you so much!!!

Thank you so much! This was super helpful! Exactly what I was looking for! 🙏

Excellent Video, I would like to ask you about how you can let cent appear in the total amount after tax?
Thank you
Hi there and thanks for your question! Do you mean the word “cent” or a dollar sign?
Great Vid. Well explained and concise. What plugin do you recommend?
Hi Chardy, You are very welcome! Thank you for writing a comment. Really appreciate that!
It all depends on what does the plugin need to do to fit your needs. Make a list of things iT NEED to have a a few things that are NICE to have. Then you can make a choice 👍🏻😀

@@WPressDoctor Yes, I subscribed. I wish tax automation and looking for woocommerce tax plugin. Asking for your suggestion on what's the best plugin for that?
Automation for the USA or other countries?
@@WPressDoctor Just USA but let me know if there's a good one for other countries
Well I never use a plugin for that, but here is a link with 7 good plugins that should do the job: wplift.com/best-woocommerce-tax-plugins
I thought if you dont have a presence in a foreign customers country, you don't charge sales tax. Can you clarify please
This is different per country, but indeed some times you don’t pay taxes when your selling to other countries!
Very helpful!!!!

Thank you, very helpful video. Just one question, is it possible for customers to generate and download an invoice (including VAT) at checkout?
Hi Wendell! Thank you for your kind words. I always send it to them via email after payment using the “PDF Invoices and Packing Slips” free plugin. To download them they have to login I suppose… it can be done, I have unfortunately no experience in how to do it. Check around for a plugin or ask the developers of the packing slips plugin?
@@WPressDoctor ok, thank you! I'll try that plugin out.
Thank you so much

Thanks for the video.
I followed the tutorial and here is the issue I have.
Price for online product is 100 USD. Someone from Europe, wants to buy the product with tax rate 10 %.
What end users sees in the cart is NOT "100 USD incl 10 USD VAT". But strangely a user sees something like this "89 USD incl 8 USD VAT".
How is that possible?
Hi Manuel, it sounds like you should change the settings to “show prices including VAT” or make sure to check the setting “add prices with or without VAT”. If your not sure, just try to change it 😀
@@WPressDoctor I am sharing with you the settings I made in the backend prnt.sc/w3k68gKtgnpo and here is what an end user sees in cart prnt.sc/WMnrLfBGzrsn . The total price of the GOLD package is 500 EUR.
Thus, I don't understand the calculation logic of Woo Commerce which is showed in the cart.
Do you have any idea on how to solve this?
Great job! Thanks!

Hi,
Even though i am your "medelander"😊 from NL, i will write in English.
Thanks Matt

Hi there, great tutorial. I'm from Canada and for instance in the province of British Columbia, we have 2 separate taxes: 7% PST (Provincial Sales Tax) and 5% GST (Goods and Services Tax which goes to the federal government) and these taxes must be charged seperate and itemized in the checkout. Do you know how this can be done to charge 2 different taxes to a province?
Hi there! Thank you for writing this message. Yes that should be possible! Just create more rows per province and make sure to use the right settings for the tax to be stacked or not 👍🏻
@@WPressDoctor Thanks it worked! I just had to set the priority to 1 and 2.
Well done! I’m glad you figured it out.

Excellent Video! Thank you for sharing. I could not figure out FOR THE LIFE of me why my taxes weren't being added at checkout. It's because I put a +1 for country code, for USA... Should be US. Instead of giving me an error, it simply didn't add tax rate. Thank you!

Aw man, you saved me! I had UK for country code, and on checkout addresses, UK is also stated, but the country code is actually supposed to be GB! Great Britain. When I entered that it worked. Even though GB and UK are 2 different things. Cheers mate.

Hey, can you make a video on taxes related to digital products like eBooks, and courses on WordPress? Is it compulsory to charge taxes on digital products
Hi there! Yes that’s a good idea, I’ll add it to my list! The tax rules differ from country to country, so just do a little research for your country 😀
It depends on which country you live in. In Canada, it's mandatory to charge tax on digital products.
I want this too

UK has zero rate vat on books, also most food when you buy in shops but not luxury items like ice cream, alcohol or chocolate
Hi David! Thanks for letting me know, interesting! 😀
Alabama & all states use a combine sales tax rate of the [state] + [city]=[sales tax]
Hi Stephanie! Thank you very much for the clarification! That’s great to hear, I would not know because I am not a US citizen 🤓 Thanks again!
Stop being apathetic. 21% is outrageous. I can guarantee they could supply the same services for 1%. Taxes are a con and people who buy into the gaslighting of the 'roads', 'hospitals' as the excuse for high taxes deserve what they get.
Hi there and thanks for your comment! When traveling the world, cities with high taxes and no corruption really are better looking out for their citizens in my opinion like West Europe. I now live in Portugal where there is some corruption and 20+% taxes... its very different. But hey, I don't run cities so who am I to argue 😁 Have a great day and stay safe!
It doesn't show shipping VAT breakdown. Do you have any best method to achieve this?
Hi there! Thanks for the question. If you want to the VAT breakdown, you need to change a setting in WooCommerce which will say something like “show calculation in cart and checkout”. It’s somewhere there, I also always have to look for it 😎
Great stuff! Thank you!
