A punk band doing the theme song for a kids TV show is awesome in itself. When you think about that, what song could be more perfect for Hit Girl? None that I can think of. The Dickies have always been such a fun band too.
I've probably seen the Dickies at least 100 times...and yes, I can back that up, considering how frequently the played, and I grew up in SoCal in the 70s/80s. The Dickies seemed to be added to a lot of large shows, a lot of them at the Olympic Aud, and Fenders.... one of the best old school bands ever.
Had their album, the incredible shrinking dickies with Give it back on it. They would release their records in all different colours. Nights in white satin was see through. Wish I still had them, they were originals. Wonder if they would be worth anything.
For those who don’t know this was a cover of the intro song from the tv show the banana splits which ran from 1968-1970 there was also a horror movie based of the show which warner brothers made
It's funny how The Tra la la's melody rythm and music seems like the wo yo yo of Buffalo Soldier from Bob Marley and the Wailers. But one more time the Dickies' Banana's Split is oldiest..
As someone who has seen these guys live several times in the 80's and 90's, I have to say it is Kick Ass that they used this song! Besides, the Dickies stole it from a kid's show anyway :)
The start of this song is also in Nimona, with the title character also being played by Chloe Grace Moretz - what a great, sneaky little actress reference
There is no way this song reminds me of something else than the absolutely perfect and brutal scene where Hit Girl earned a place between the iconic characters of this decade.
+Just Curious Right there with you mate. Punk died in late '78 (with the release of Metal Box). Everything that has called itself or been labelled punk since then are just retro copyists.
Man, I am so grateful for movie soundtracks, because I fall in love with new bands that I missed out on or didn't know about. The Dickies is an amazing band, and Kick-Ass was definitely a ass-kicking movie.
If I had a nickel for everytime a movie with Chloe Grace Moretz has a scene where there's an action sequence involving this song playing in the background Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice
I'm a Dickie's fan from 25 years ago. This song was smokin' back then and is still greatness. If it was used in a movie then I say it was a great choice!
I was in rehab with this guy when i was like 19....he was awasome. He had the best stories and gave me a road map of what not drugs to do. Was like drugs are bad but if your going to do them....dont do this and this...we were good friends for a few years. Then just lost touch to me romping around being a gutter punk. Ill will always miss my buddy. Love ya man.
You were in rehab with Leonard? That's awesome, he seems like a fun guy, and doesn't surprise me at all that he has been in rehab. The Dickies are still going strong to this day, they're planning on releasing a final album. Their latest single Gary Glitter Getaway slaps.
The Bannana Splits always seemed like a place I wanted to be when I was a child. The Dickies bring it all back to the punk rocker I became. The sense of humor with the pathos. They were the strain of humor in the pathos when I was 5.
My goodness. And to think I used to practice my dancin to this up and down the front room once dad left to collect mum from work. Jumping.... diving....... etc etc.....Phew..... I'm worn out just typing this nowadays. :D But..... Great upload. Cheers..!!
Nothing can beat that fight scene with Hit Girl. Best I've ever seen in a movie. Be honest; how many people would know this song were it not for Kick-Ass? It's downright iconic now.

THAT'S EXACTLY WHY I LIKE IT SO MUCH! Thank you! My daughter drove me crazy with this, and then these guys! Use it as HIT GIRL'S FREAKING THEME SONG!
Was there n loved em ;)>
Nelly the elephant being anouther
Their cover of Toxic Avenger is great too!
they also did killer klowns from outer space
Saw the Dickies live many times. Very talented band that deserved far more fame.
im so jealous
The Dickies are the single most under rated band in the history of Rock and Roll!
I love them too. But it might be do their over use of drugs that then faded.
Of course. Because they are no Rock and Roll but Punk Rock. There is a big difference.

Saw them many times in California. Still have their vinyl records and CDs. Probably the best high energy group of all time.
This video made my night! Absolutely brilliant! I still have the single on yellow wax and saw them live with 999 back in the day. RIP Chuck Wagon.
"Kick-Ass?" "The Dickies?" Did I miss something incredibly awesome?

one of the great punk/new wave songs. Thanks for posting such a high quality version. (And my copy of Incredible Shrinking was orange!)

This version would be ideal for the R rated Banana Splits movie, wouldn't it?
There is a horror movie being made, there is a trailer for it. lol it rated R
@@justshootemgaming5761 it would be the Deadpool of the horror movies

Banana Splits (The Tra La La Song) - ~ - Lyrics
----By The Dickies
Tra la la tra la la la
Tra la la tra la la la
Tra la la tra la la la
Tra la la tra la la la
One banana two banana three banana four
Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more
Over hill and highway the banana buggies go
Come along to bring you the banana splits show
Four banana three banana two banana one
All bananas playing in the bright warm sun
Flipping like a pancake popping like a cork
Fleagle, Bingo, Drooper and Snork
Making up a mess of fun
Making up a mess of fun
Making up a mess of fun
Lots of fun for everyone
Four banana three banana two banana one
All bananas playing in the bright warm sun
Flipping like a pancake popping like a cork
Fleagle, Bingo, Drooper and Snork
