Wife of Man Shot in the Head While Street Preaching Reveals 'Miracles' in His Recovery

- The wife of an Arizona man who was shot in the head last month while street preaching in Glendale, Arizona, said she and her family have witnessed a "miracle" every day after doctors initially assumed her husband wouldn't survive the ordeal. Zulya Schmidt, wife of 26-year-old Hans Schmidt, told CBN Digital her husband continues to make stunning progress despite facing a litany of medical uncertainties.
"We're hopeful, and we're praying, and we're contending for a supernatural recovery," Zulya Schmidt said. "But there's just so much unknown still, so much uncertainty." She said there's hope though, noting, "Every day we've been able to witness a miracle." Schmidt called Hans' progress "just amazing" and said he's now able to understand a bit more of the situation he's in after being shot Nov. 15. She's unsure exactly how much he comprehends because he's unable to communicate, though he is increasingly aware of the circumstances.
As CBN Digital reported, Hans, a 26-year-old dad of two, a military combat veteran, and the outreach director at Victory Chapel First Phoenix in Arizona, was taken to the hospital Nov. 15 on suspicion of having been assaulted. But a CT scan revealed he had been shot. Schmidt was initially in serious condition, as his family prayed for a miracle, imploring others to do the same.
Zulya Schmidt shared details with CBN News of what unfolded the evening of the shooting, noting Hans was street preaching as he has frequently done over the past year. "He's been doing that for over a year, and, usually, he street preaches for 30 minutes before every evening service for our church," she said. "That day, he just ended street preaching early, and I thought that was odd." Watch her explain the shocking details of the case - and update on her husband's condition.

Whatever in His will, it’s always the best thing, even when things don’t quite go our way, or think our prayers have not been heard, just trust that He knows future plans and we don’t. My son was shot in the head Dec 2023 and walked out 18 days later. After brain surgery he couldn’t eat or walk….BUT GOD!!!! God will heal him and he will make a full recovery in Jesus’s mighty name!!! By His stripes he will be healed!!!!!!

My husband had a brain injury several years ago. Not a severe as your husband's, but I can relate to the stress you are going through. I listen to sermons on healing and a lot of praise music in his hospital room. No TV, no negative talk at all, and read my Bible continuously. He's disabled, but God allowed him to stay here with us, and he functions very well. Prayers for his healing. God's got you all. You'll get through this. Blessings! ❤

I had a brain injury last year I was riding my bike and this car struck me speeding . I was 3 inches from hitting the medal part and If I Did my Brian would be everywhere gruesome . Praise God I’m alive .I did have a bunch of brain bleeding but my God pulled me through I may not know why he allowed this . But we don’t have the mind of God . This story has stuck with me since I first heard it. I shared the story with many prayer warriors requesting their prayers for this young man. He was doing God’s will and there’s no way God isn’t in control of this situation.

My brother when he was 7 years old came up missing everybody was frantically looking for him thinking he was kidnapped are hurt himself we didn't know where he was. All our family got together looking for him and they were at our house. My uncle got hungry and we had a refrigerator on the back porch that we kept bread in. My sister went out and she found my brother he had called into the refrigerator. My parents rushed him to the hospital and the doctor said, if he lives he will be brain dead or a vegetable. My mother love that doctor in the eye and she said I do not believe that. My mother stayed at the hospital and prayed over my brother all night long. She would wipe his brow when he broke a sweat and take a blanket off. By early morning my mother had closed her eyes can you tell me the most beautiful words that she ever heard, what's Mom, Mom, I am hungry. I learned from my mother and her faith, was not to believe it I'm about to believe Against All Odds as she told the doctors I do not believe that in her prayers were answered.

Thanks, we here of the problem some times with no story of what happened or what going on. I've done ministry in Phoenix for many years and never thought this could of happed to me or someone in our team. I no longer do ministry, but know what can happen there. Thank you for this update. Dear sister, Hold on to God! I had brain surgery in September. I know God was and is in control. I was sharing the gospel with everyone I could while I was in the hospital ( 20 days).. Prophet Bobby Conner said, “This year God is about to show up and show off.”
The first couple of days after surgery, I was straddling between heaven and earth. God was showing me amazing things. I believe the same thing is happening for your husband. He can hear you. Speak faith to him. ( Hebrews 11:1 ). God is the great physician. The doctors here on earth are only practicing.
