Moved on as legends, i remember late nights in the middle of downtown buffalo 2000, 2001 watching them with less than 100 people. Im grateful to have been a fan from the beginning to the end.
I'm 30 and this was the first video i ever saw and song that i ever heard by this band. they played a major role in me developing my music taste. Love these guys still.
He quotes alot of different literary works in alot of their music. He was an English professor. lol. not alot of people know that though, but he always said that if he ever quit music, he is gonna go back to teaching. That is why their lyrics sound so cryptic and almost literary.
I’ll never forget the night I got kicked out of there concert for jumping on stage and dancing with awesome Andy! Then snuck back in and hung out with Keith after the show when I bummed him a smoke... fucking legend!
Every Time I Die pisses me off. Every time I listen to this band I end up getting arrested for hitting jumps in a Trans Am and kicking small children. This band has been very detrimental to my reputation in society.
Alex Ruday Probably because they're an indie label. If they were an official company like Warner or Interscope, the video would be in much better quality because they could actually afford to pay for it.
Well, thanks for the info! Much appreciated. And I do agree, Keith throws it down quite well. I was surprised when I heard it. Followed by impressed. But then I remembered, it's ETID. The epitome of badass.
This song represents a golden era of metal. Seeing these dudes live back in the day was nothing short of mind benI will NEVER get tired of listening to this song or this band
so what category does every time i die fall in??? i have the big dirty and its frickin awesome! and i'm 35 and i LOVE my music LOUD! and FAST! love Pantera, disturbed, shadows fall, OLD metallica, some tool, fear factory and slipknot for the metal stuff
David Theisen ya can't nail these guys to a category, they just do what they do; your fav bands are very close to my 'ground zero' of musical preference...
Hey i Know where this was filmed... at Universal Studies Hollywood, i rode the tram ride and the tram guy said a band was filming a music video lol i had no idea it was Every Time I Die
@shadybrain3424 They are from Buffalo. and though Buffalo can be called "up state NY" @sharppang Buffalo is not farmland, it's a considered a "city". Crazy I know. I live here.
Does anybody know what's up with the part where Gerard is supposed to be singing? I don't hear it at all in this video. I know he's in the song, but I don't hear it on here at all. Any ideas?
i forgot to mention i like Slayer too! but yeah i first got a taste of them when i saw the video for we'rewolf on headbangers ball. the song was so cool. and i like grabbin heavy metal cds especially for around Halloween time. but i like heavy metal all the time!
@shadybrain3424 upper new york is basically the south hah. tons of farms, hunters, fisherman, etc. completely different from metro ny aka nyc. not saying that as a negative, but just from my experience from going to college in upstate ny
this version is different, i think this is the first version of their song. this version doesn't include Gerard's vocals, but only on the album version, i think they only used this because wasn't in the music video and to see keith do his part would be different? i dont know.
The reason was the rights behind Gerard Way. They would have had to pay his record label proceeds for this music video so they called this "Keith the Music" as well which I believe also was a copyright move. They couldn't call this by the original that's used on the album.
@chonomakona Rise against are punk try hards, RATM are a hardcore band originaly (they even cover minor threat) but are hardcore really. Real hardcore is black flag, bad brains, dead kennedys, minor threat, negetive fx and such.
@albalest55 I guess it depends on whether you feel like hardcore is a specific musical movement, or a philosophy and state of mind about how you make music. ETID has a very punk rock sensibility about how they make music, but they are definitely a little late to the party if they want to be part of 80's American hardcore, ha.
I remember I would get mad because Headbanger’s Ball would play this video every week, and I thought it was awful. I came here to resolve some of my teenage anger or something, but it’s actually not bad. :/
@chonomakona i dont think we came as romans is hardcore. they might have elements i dont know i dont listen to them. i just have heard they were metalcore. RATM is rap metal. you could say their first is more of a punk cd but not hardcore. when i think of "original hardcore" i think of black flag or someone like that. Rise against is more post harcore than hardcore. they sound nothing like original hardcore. maybe some elements of it in the begining of their careers but not anymore
Did y'all know that was michael madsen in the hat I never knew that till now lol n I loved this band forever hahahaha only knew cuz of jordan buckley's post on ig lol
simpson, it seems that this is a different version of the song. Gerard sings backup vocals in the album version, it's very easy to pick out when you hear it.
neilpeartrocks2112 I think it's because they used the audio from "Keith the Music" rather than "Kill the Music" for this music video. The difference between the two songs is that Gerard Way's vocals on the original song are replaced by Keith himself so that he's the sole vocalist on the whole track. An example I can think of right off the top of my head where I've seen this done before is in Alanis Morissette's video for "You Oughta Know." The video is supposed to feature the song of the same name but instead has the "Jimmy the Saint Blend" version of it playing throughout for some reason.
@ryanl7987 RATM came from a hardcore back ground, but they weren't hardcore to me. They used many elements of it. I think everyone ties them to hardcore because of Inside Out. That's okay, but a band is usually the genre they describe themselves as. I don't think RATM ever claimed to be hardcore. They were sort of their own genre, with hardcore being one of the big influences. Their early sound would have totally fit in at a hardcore show.
i think im not for sure about this but awhile ago when i first got into them they had this song posted and it said kill the music w/Jerard you know the lead singer from my chemical romance
Saw them in some random dive redneck bar in PA. Jordan climbed on the speakers and did a solo. Owners got pissed cuz someone got nosed on the pit and left a bit of blood and tried to shut it down. They finished it out. Shit Jordan was slinging merch, Andy was in the pit for the early bands. I’ll miss em, but I will make sure if I have kids they will know they strippers real name.
did not know this song featured gerard way until today. I did know they was some guest vocalist though. listening to it now I cant believe i didnt notice him before
@albalest55 well, hardcore comes in various forms, i call this a form of hardcore kind of, when I think of metalcore I think of bands like Parkway Drive, I Killed the prom queen, farewell to freeway, architects and adept. when I hear ETID i think of like a "rocky" hardcore due to the fact that they have some southern influences. like a7x (not comparing a7x and ETID, dont start bitching about that), ppl call their music metalcore but i cant hear it as MC. But thats just me, we all hear different.
as an influence, im not comparing them shithead the chaotic guitars and the delivery and attitude of the vocals Black Flag has influenced ALOT of bands
Saw this on Headbanger's Ball w/ Jamey Jasta as a kid. The rest is history, favorite band still as I round into my 30s.
Same I have a lyric from The New Black tattooed on me. Was my first one. Still love them.
Exactly the same boat here…33…favorite band…are we the same person?
Yessirrrr! That's where I found this video too. Headbanger's Ball built the man I am today, I think. 28 now, still lovin it.
Samezyyyysss.
Same lol
This song never dies
6 years after, i still listen to this song :)
2021 baby!
Oh ya
ten years old this album is. and I still jam it all the time!
ZombryaTheDark ok yoda
R.I.P. to the kings!!!! 🎙️🎸🥁😢☹️" Either u or I or both must go" Damn if he only knew.
Love these guys still.
this band is too good, every album is amazing and just gets better!
Still accurate
16 years later, and this song still hits harder than my step dad
Lmao nice
Fuck yes it does. This was the first ETID song I heard in 9th grade and I was hooked
Hell yeah I know what you mean.
Steve if you're reading this you suck and I want my hammer drill back. And tell mom I'll pay her back next week.
Nice!
Gonna be the prick that points out that that's Michael Madson.
He quotes alot of different literary works in alot of their music. He was an English professor. lol. not alot of people know that though, but he always said that if he ever quit music, he is gonna go back to teaching. That is why their lyrics sound so cryptic and almost literary.
After all these years, I'm realizing that Gerard Way's part isn't in this video and it's Keith doing it instead! Whoa!
I always thought it was so odd that they recorded two different versions. Love it though.
3 years late to this comment but it's called Keith The Music apparently, I always dig this version for the vid anyways since Gerard ain't in it
@@jbc00per yes exactly. I would've preferred this version on the album.
hist voice is sooooooooooo good. i love how you can still hear his voice when he streams
this song is as amazing in 2022 as it was when I first heard it on release
I’ll never forget the night I got kicked out of there concert for jumping on stage and dancing with awesome Andy! Then snuck back in and hung out with Keith after the show when I bummed him a smoke... fucking legend!
That is a great song! Great video too! Michael Madsen is the f'in' man!
Shows you can be heavy as hell in Drop D.
2004-2007 went literally Drop D, to Drop C# to Drop C, now its just crazy 8+ string Djent lol, I still think C-D has the best feel.
As if all heavy metal isn't in drop D haha
@@sabbathjackal rock is also pretty STANDARD (ha ha) for drop d
amazing
every single etid song is amazing
Keith's voice gives me goosebumps.
In a good way, of course.
Every Time I Die pisses me off. Every time I listen to this band I end up getting arrested for hitting jumps in a Trans Am and kicking small children. This band has been very detrimental to my reputation in society.
MK4vDubbin well, at least you are taking out your frustrations out on the freeway where anger belongs!
damn, not even Ferret has an HD version of this video.
Alex Ruday Probably because they're an indie label. If they were an official company like Warner or Interscope, the video would be in much better quality because they could actually afford to pay for it.
Or because, you know, they haven't been an actual label for nearly a decade....
no, the music video does have a higher quality version, Ferret just uploaded in low quality
Or because it was uploaded in 2006 so the quality uploaded was noticeably lower (and didn't look anywhere as bad if it was, ya know, 2006).
Well, thanks for the info! Much appreciated. And I do agree, Keith throws it down quite well. I was surprised when I heard it. Followed by impressed. But then I remembered, it's ETID. The epitome of badass.
Turning 25 this month and still listening to this masterpiece
37, still bangin
I'm almost 80. And I still love this band!
I can’t believe they got Micheal Madison. Fucking Unreal.
This song represents a golden era of metal. Seeing these dudes live back in the day was nothing short of mind benI will NEVER get tired of listening to this song or this band

wicked sick drummer
AWESOME 😈😈😈
Hey i Know where this was filmed... at Universal Studies Hollywood, i rode the tram ride and the tram guy said a band was filming a music video lol i had no idea it was Every Time I Die
This was the first song I ever heard by ETID. Today is sad day to hear that I will never see ETID play again! #RipETID
I love the colors behind the singer
Mustard?
Keep the vids coming... when possible
Michael Madsen ❤️
0:42 fuckin' amazing part!!!
this band is crazy. i love ETID
@shadybrain3424 They are from Buffalo. and though Buffalo can be called "up state NY" @sharppang Buffalo is not farmland, it's a considered a "city". Crazy I know. I live here.
So sad ETID ended the way it did. This will always be my fave.
Is that David Duchovny on vocals??!
Gerard sings the chorus on one version of the song. Not the video version, but the album version.
Does anybody know what's up with the part where Gerard is supposed to be singing? I don't hear it at all in this video. I know he's in the song, but I don't hear it on here at all. Any ideas?

Keith the music
Tren Mallet I understand that reference
@shadybrain3424 upper new york is basically the south hah. tons of farms, hunters, fisherman, etc. completely different from metro ny aka nyc. not saying that as a negative, but just from my experience from going to college in upstate ny
Does anybody know where I can this version (Keith the Music) ?
I've checked everywhere and have had zero luck.
@Antireign these guys arent fake and they aren't metal. Everytime I Die is their very own genre!
they filmed this video on the universal backlot. you can see it when you go on the tram tour
actually, in this version, its keith, but on the cd its gerard
@safetyponcho try The Dillinger Escape Plan, they are sorta similiar but no where near as good as these guys
@Antireign Which kind of music/bands do you like? :)
his voice is wat makes the music sound like it does
@Allureist Because there were different recordings. On the album is were Gerard was featured.
this version is different, i think this is the first version of their song. this version doesn't include Gerard's vocals, but only on the album version, i think they only used this because wasn't in the music video and to see keith do his part would be different? i dont know.
It's more than likely the rough master or an advance single of some kind. I believe this video pre-dated the album release.
The reason was the rights behind Gerard Way. They would have had to pay his record label proceeds for this music video so they called this "Keith the Music" as well which I believe also was a copyright move. They couldn't call this by the original that's used on the album.
That... Is... Awesome! xD
i think this is "keith the music," the album features the dude from mcr i believe. keith sings the chorus in this one.
keith is the coolest dude he lives right around my house i see him all the time
every time i die fuckin rules! buffalo is the place!!
Is this the CD version?
For some reason it sounds a bit different to me.
amen to that
0:43-1:10 is the best part of the video AND song.
=)
HELL YEAH
wow, look how young they all look
@xXseveredheadXx how are they southern though, they're from new york, upper new york. more like a bluesy metalcore if you ask me.
@chonomakona Rise against are punk try hards, RATM are a hardcore band originaly (they even cover minor threat) but are hardcore really. Real hardcore is black flag, bad brains, dead kennedys, minor threat, negetive fx and such.
this was totally filmed at universals backlot. i recognize it from the tour. haha
what do you mean its not jordan....maybe i just dont know who your talking to but i know for sure that jordan buckley is the guitarist with no shirt
@albalest55 not that im greatly knowledgeable about music but gorilla biscuits and bad brains didnt seem that hardcore. sounded a bit older.
Unique and iconic
@albalest55 I guess it depends on whether you feel like hardcore is a specific musical movement, or a philosophy and state of mind about how you make music. @akninjadrop even if you think they kind of suck go to the show regardess. they always put on a crazy ass show!
cool ^^
simpson, it seems that this is a different version of the song. Gerard sings backup vocals in the album version, it's very easy to pick out when you hear it.
Can't we all just agree that Every Time I Die is good shit. Otherwise agree to disagree.
yoo this is a different version than i have wtf
neilpeartrocks2112 I think it's because they used the audio from "Keith the Music" rather than "Kill the Music" for this music video. Hell yeah. The good old days

The most kick ass motherfucker band in the world!
Yo, the we'rewolf video is "not available in my country?" What the fuck?
Hell yes
@albalest55 they have a hardcore influence to their music
@TheTwill12 maybe when your a big boy but for now i suggest listening to hoobastank or something you'll understand
did not know this song featured gerard way until today. I did know they was some guest vocalist though. listening to it now I cant believe i didnt notice him before

Saw this in a trailer park in 2006- hell yah bruther
wow ok so at 2:31 did he just miss the guitar with his hand?
@chonomakona i have never heard anyone call rage against the machine a hardcore band and rise against isnt really hardcore either
yeah that sounds good ;)
Went to high school wit these guys
i likes this song,it reminds me of 2005 and stalking myself,i was good at it too !
The ending was kickass
hes right. Keith sings this part in the video. Gerard sings on the cd. i love my chem. every time i die is the shitttt. i love them.
Best.band.out.there.
Dissapointed that i'm just now giving this band a listen
as an influence, im not comparing them shithead
the chaotic guitars and the delivery and attitude of the vocals
Black Flag has influenced ALOT of bands
Listen to this in 2020 cuz this song is party metal as fuck! Hit the freeway with this song and try not to speed...
hahahaha thats awsome!! i thought he looked like him too!....untill i saw them live.
