I used to ride these trails when I was in middle school back in 2009. Pacifica will for sure make you a better rider. Props to the people who maintained the jumps!
Hey I know this is a super old vid but I just rode this spot today for the first time. Your vid was a great “relive the ride” video. Come to Belmont and I’ll take you on a fun 9 mile loop.
Great video. I've been wanting to hit this trail since last year.. we are going there this year for sure. We mostly hit UCSC, Saratoga Gap, and Rocky Ridge of Santa Teresa. Thanks for the videos, at least we kinda expect what's there now.
Cool video. Been there one time and u r braver then me through the cascades! I walked it. I agree, the video doesn't do justice on how steep it is. And the crazy ruts! Kudos to u man! Oh.... I flipped over one those ruts!
That view of the town when you first headed down was epic! Good on Joey for giving you a tour. I can't decide if my SB5+ would be better or *worse* on thoes ruts...
Nice video and nicely done for clipless and first time. I think it's great someone made a video showing some perspective on the trail, it's not easy. The other two trails in Pacifica make the Mike look like a cake walk.
Great video! So jealous. I haven't been on the trail in a little over 2 weeks. It's killing me. This is definitely on my list of places I need to go. Thanks for sharing.
Nice ride. Found you thru a dual ride w/ BKXC. Subbed. Love the fact that you put in your 'disclaimer' on your riding. (watch a fair amount of vids and saw one rider banging down the trails at Whistler and seemed most of the commenters 'MUST' be sponsored riders, critiquing this guy so much...) I'm a noob, so love watching vids of others to see where they ride as well as what a better rider looks like to aspire to for myself.
This is awesome. I literally just started mountain biking last week after not riding a bicycle for around 15 years. Is this a spot that's GPSable if I'm driving from the east bay?
looks like you hit it after the big rains- it was a wee bit easier before. wondering what you use to transfer file to upload- looks way clear against mine.! thanks
This video looks better mostly due to good overcast light conditions when it was shot. Regardless I export at 1080p 60 with the highest bit rate (50mps) and let youtube do its thing
haha yeah mile is a gnarly trail. the local homie should have had you guys take the paved trail up and around the back, it's a super mellow and fast climb. i guess he wanted to have you shit your pants trying to hike up it.
It's good to walk up those rock gardens first so you have some idea of the lines. I went into the Mile rock garden blind the first time and had a solid OTB.
kudos for going outside your comfort zone on unfamiliar trails. Hard to hold speed when you dont know whats coming next. That first part i think i would have skipped not into the rut thing…lol. by the way where were your elbow pads and please tell me you wore knee pads on that terrain
Surprisingly well. The rollover of the larger wheel was definitely appreciated. However I bottomed out the suspension on the jumps at Boy Scout. A little more air in the fork and shock would have helped.
Is this where people get " Heli-Vaced"? A local once told me a few times a year it happens. I'm wondering if these are the sections where the big accidents happen or is it somewhere else?
Thanks for trying out 60 fps. It looks much better in my opinion. Although in the fast parts, every 2 seconds you would get like artifact refresh or something. Is that something that happens after uploading it to youtube?
Wow. Totally opposite type of trails compared to your usual stuff. Did the wagon wheels feel awkward in the air? Anyway, good video and kudos for being brave enough, especially on a somewhat unfamiliar bike..
What don't you like about it? I think it's pretty solid althrough tough to dial in. The only time I'm not jazzed are those successive medium hits at reasonably high speed. Otherwise it gives a distinct personality when compared to my 5c.
MTB Savant then do something and improve yourself. I know you can, there are so many videos on UA-cam.. Learning new skills, practicing will definitely help you improve. Best luck m8
MTB Savant looks like Richie Rude is riding the SB5 with a 170 fork this week at the EWS event. Might want to try the new Cane Creek fork with the adjustable travel before buying a new bike.
I noticed that too on Instagram. Quite surprising but speaks to how capable the 5c can be. Although I'm sure the v2 version is quite a bit stiffer than mine. It's one thing I noticed immediately when I rode the 4.5c is how much stiffer the frame feels compared to my v1 5c.
Holy shit! I would have never guessed that the trail was so gnarly if you wouldn't have showed the climbing part. I think your Yeti 4.5 wasn't exactly the right tool for this job :D But sick video anyways!

Skeggs>Waterdog
@@paintbalzmaster Skeggs is way better than WD…. Just not as convenient to get to.
Great video. I've been wanting to hit this trail since last year.. we are going there this year for sure. We mostly hit UCSC, Saratoga Gap, and Rocky Ridge of Santa Teresa. Thanks for the videos, at least we kinda expect what's there now.
It's definitely a gem tucked away in Pacifica.
Cool video. Been there one time and u r braver then me through the cascades! I walked it. I agree, the video doesn't do justice on how steep it is. And the crazy ruts! Kudos to u man!
Oh.... I flipped over one those ruts!
I was shitting my pants during the hike a bike ;)
That view of the town when you first headed down was epic! Good on Joey for giving you a tour. I can't decide if my SB5+ would be better or *worse* on thoes ruts...
Yeah too bad I didn't get to enjoy much of the view :).
Thanks for posting this one. Good to find things close to the city. :)
Need to go back here!

Thanks. I definitely need to go back!
Should've brought an old bike for this trail . Beautiful views.💯
Hi. I'm a new sub and I gotta say Pacifica looks nuts! I heard it was but this is the first footage I've ever seen of it.
It looks even gnarlier in person ;)
Loved this, great video!
Great video! So jealous. I haven't been on the trail in a little over 2 weeks. It's killing me. This is definitely on my list of places I need to go. Thanks for sharing.
Hit me up when you make it up here!

Welcome aboard!
Props to this man. I would give up and get hella mad when I fell
Falling is all part of the game, or at least that's how I think of it.
really good vid, i live a block away from these trails and get on them a few times a week. cheers.
Lucky you!
Why cut out the scenes when you fall? Those are good clips. 😅
Werd
This is awesome. I literally just started mountain biking last week after not riding a bicycle for around 15 years. Is this a spot that's GPSable if I'm driving from the east bay?
Yup, look up mile trail on trailforks
only a downhiller wears tight jeans while riding...
I wear jeans everywhere, lol.
tman55575 jeans. Not just for mountain biking anymore
MTB Savant which Yeti were you on? And what is Joey riding?
That trail calls for the duluth trading firehose jeans!
Nice vid bro, did you get a chance to ride Mori Ridge trail and Baquiano trail at Sweeney Ridge while you were down there?
Not this time but I'll be back!
MTB Savant I would highly recommend Fast, it is the singletrack extension of Baquaino trail. Not as dangerous as Mile just steep fast and loose
Thanks for the recommendation. I need to go back here and explore further
A rite of passage. Great job!
Thank you sir

Man! those trails are definitely intense but look really fun. A few of my buds ride those regularly, just never had the cajones to join 😃. Nice vid!
Thanks Ken. It was quite an experience. I want to go back at least once with the goal of making it down without crashing or putting a foot down ;)
haha yeah mile is a gnarly trail. the local homie should have had you guys take the paved trail up and around the back, it's a super mellow and fast climb. i guess he wanted to have you shit your pants trying to hike up it.
Well his plan definitely worked ;)
Mainly it was because I hate climbing.
It's good to walk up those rock gardens first so you have some idea of the lines. I went into the Mile rock garden blind the first time and had a solid OTB.

Knee pads for sure. Elbow pads for sure next time lol
Once you learn the lines, it's so much easier to just let go of the brakes and skip across the top of the rocks in that section
Agreed. I need to go back
To difficult for me ! Lol How did the 4.5 cope ?
Surprisingly well. The rollover of the larger wheel was definitely appreciated. However I bottomed out the suspension on the jumps at Boy Scout. A little more air in the fork and shock would have helped.

Man this is rough and really nice at the same time! I am planning to ride it on Sunday wish me luck lol
Can't wait for your video dude
MTB Savant I am going with another guy who's never been there either so I hope we will be all right on the rock garden.
Did you survive?
MTB Savant couldn't make it out there last weekend.
Thanks for trying out 60 fps. It looks much better in my opinion. Although in the fast parts, every 2 seconds you would get like artifact refresh or something. Is that something that happens after uploading it to youtube?
Yeah there's some youtube strangeness going on there.
Where’s that at?
Toward the end, he almost crashed into *so many* trees. It stressed me out.
Wow. Totally opposite type of trails compared to your usual stuff. Did the wagon wheels feel awkward in the air? Anyway, good video and kudos for being brave enough, especially on a somewhat unfamiliar bike..
Didn't feel awkward at all and never thought about it. An inch of extra travel would have been nice though :)
props for riding outside of your comfort zone
Thanks dude
wow , awesome video ...
thanks!
You rode down that on the 4.5?
Yup and I'm still alive!
How many volume spacers do you run in the rear?
This is how the 4.5 rides on that trail.
ua-cam.com/video/2WKLifXWAHI/v-deo.html
Awesome video man
Elbow pads are really nice to have on such rides
For sure next time
Is crack considered quadruple black diamond because everyone I’ve ridden that I have gashes on my legs hahha
I haven't done that trail yet. Someday though
Do you have the actual DPS trail shock on your bike or the XC shock that's "trail tuned?"
The latter but official 2017 trail shock is on the way
MTB Savant have you considered the Monarch Plus ?
I have this bike with the reworked XC shock and am replacing it. They are not great.
What don't you like about it? I think it's pretty solid althrough tough to dial in. The only time I'm not jazzed are those successive medium hits at reasonably high speed. Otherwise it gives a distinct personality when compared to my 5c.
Not yet. I'll start with what Yeti specs on their 2017 models and go from there.
That looks great, where r u at
Pacifica, CA which is a beach town just south of San Francisco
Dude, where about are you from
I grew up in San Jose, CA. Lived in the bay area just about all my life.
Dude!!! The second part looks super fun!!! Great job pushing yourself. Do you think the 5 would have been a better choice?
I think the rollover of the 29er helped me on mile, but yeah the 5c would have been the better choice on Boy Scout.
You were way over your head and lucky to have survived.
you must be a pro jumper xD
Great video Keep it up
I suck at jumping. Always have and always will.
MTB Savant then do something and improve yourself. I know you can, there are so many videos on UA-cam.. Learning new skills, practicing will definitely help you improve. Best luck m8
Strava?
how can i find this route ?
If you search for Pedro Mountain on trail forks or probably any trail app the whole trail system will show up.
You ride there a fee more times and you'll be kicking yourself for not getting the 5.5. Looked like fun! Gwin clips in, so can you.
The 5.5 would have been great indeed. Hmmmm
MTB Savant looks like Richie Rude is riding the SB5 with a 170 fork this week at the EWS event. Might want to try the new Cane Creek fork with the adjustable travel before buying a new bike.

is that the racefacs 6 bar? flat? did that come with the bike and that color?
It's a turqupose Raceface carbon next bar, 10mm rise 35mm clamp. Purchased separately
I ride there often and have never seen anyone hike up the mile. Glad you didn’t get pounded... would advise against that
Hahahah he said he woosed out on boyscout I got messed up on that trail but its still fun you should go check out the new bike park
That place writes checks my skills can't cash.
MTB Savant ?
Did you use the Yeti 4.5 on this vid?
Yes!
Great video man! What software do you use for editing?
GoPro Studio which crashes every 30 mins ;)
You’ve been biking 13 years and mile is still way gnarly for you??????? 😂😂😂😂
You should hit "Crack" next time you go there. When I first started riding this is where I learned, lets just say I learned quick.
James May that's like learning to swim in the ocean. Respect!
Are you from the Bay Area?
Yes I am!
Butt back, smooth man
I'm pretty sure there's an imprint of a Minion SS down the middle of my butt crack
Holy shit! I would have never guessed that the trail was so gnarly if you wouldn't have showed the climbing part.
I think your Yeti 4.5 wasn't exactly the right tool for this job :D But sick video anyways!
Yeah a little underbiked but did pretty well considering
Bro I went over my bars the first time I did this trail
Good for you having the balls. I had to take a motrin after watching this
On my 4th ride get I did these things on a 750 dollar hardtail
I will make video doing that trail!!!
And I will be watching that video :)
Nice 😉👌
Thank you!
Hour and half climb/push for 10 min descent..
there's a way around to ride it up, no need to push the bike :)
Joey wanted to make sure my pants were fully soiled before coming down ;)
This place is double black? Lmao me and my uncle did that with no pads and just regular bike helmet and we made it out.
Well I guess that makes 2 of us
check out my boyscouts dank vid with gimbal ua-cam.com/video/rqzXDYH0BGU/v-deo.html
This looks like a really bad idea. Let's do it.
LOL
Your bike is not set up for those down hills. I don think you are either. But you can practice
Erosion, it's a bitch!
Right?!
love your videos but not a fan of pacifica. not my thing
Yeah it's not for everyone
