Are they in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? If not, they deserve to be.
The First Class Man of Canadian Rock!
David Clayton Thomas!!
It's people like you and me that won't let good music die. We will grow as artists and make real music too.
his voice can really packed up some power! great singer/performer! kudos to the whole band/group! :)
Dave has always had that smile!
"give me my freedom for as long as i be, all i ask of living is to have no chains on me"
Laura Nyro.
Hi Folks,
i am not the video generation. This is the first time I seen BS&T with this great songs.
Wonderfull
Remember always this song my young days as my Grandparents played it ! 🇺🇸😎
I thanks groups like BST, Chicago, and Chase for letting me to continued playing my baritone horn. I still cant belive BST, Chicago are not in the Rock Hall of Fame. There songs are, but not the group.
This brings back memories of listening to this on 8 track tape at my first job in 1969 at a summer camp for disabled kids, we almost wore that tape out. Precious!
19 years old Laura Nyero wrote ,"and when I die,a baby is born."This fact continues forever.
Wow 😳 what a voice
This music brings good memories!!!🎉😊
B.S and Tears are a MOuntain of Talent and Soul!
A long time ago (40 years), in a galaxy far, far away, one could go to a high school dance in my home town of San Diego and hear talented young people in garage bands doing great covers of BS&T, early Chicago (when they were still a rock band), Tower of Power, Sly and the Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, etc. One band, Power, was fronted by Nathan East (Four Play, Eric Clapton, etc.).
Now days, my children are forced to "dance" to DJs puking out a whole bunch of Autotuned crap. It truly is sad.
This is a fantastic singer he did not need back vocals and anoying dancers . Just pure talent and what a band.
"...swear there ain't no heaven, and pray there ain't no hell..." This has to be one of the greatest lines in music. Such a paradox!
Harold Terranova Amen brother! I've always loved the brilliant agnosticism of this phrase. Even more interesting to think Laura Nyro was at least, culturally Jewish, and I don't think Jewish teaching includes the notions of Heaven and Hell as in Christian teaching. Ms Nyro was a brilliant songwriter who we lost too soon.
Exactly .. Songwriting at its finest ..
Two great songs for one click? And they are both live? Don't get no better! Loved thesae guys when I was a kid and still do a few years later. Thanks for the vid.
Lucky you. That was so good of your dad. I'll bet this song brings back MANY good memories.
Blood, Sweat and Tears Day at Casa Craig. I'd never seen David Clayton-Thomas up close before. He looks like he's having a great time up there!!!!!!! CRANK it!!!!!!
What a gift, DCT !
I love Carol King and I love B S & T but I never knew carol wrote hi di ho till IDOL last night
FantasstiIIIIc Voice !!!!! Amazing Band
Merci Beaucoups Dumcam !!!!
Thanks
WHAT A BAND! What a voice.
An incredible voice...he seems to have lost a note or two at the top, but he's still one of the greatest..
Canada should declare his vocal chords a national treasure!
He was actually born in England
@@MariaFernandez-yx7egYes,Kingston upon Thames!
David was just performing in Edmonton, the man still has it! I raised my kids listening to him, so my daughter and I sang with him and enjoyed it so much...it was my birthday, and by far the best present I couldve gotten. Keep singing for old women like me David!!!
If the truth be known...That BASS PLAYER is incredible! His personal contribution to THE GROOVE and how he works with drummer needs to be appreciated! Thanks again to DRUMCAM who provided these videos and who also just happens to be the drummer you are watching in these videos! He is a very nice gentleman to speak with as well.
THIS BAND IS SOOOOOOOOO GOOD!
All these later... this band still kicks!
@actormanic Awesome, I love when I can find out new things like that! Thank you so much actormanic.
Love Carole King too....
JBirdy
Thank you BST, Thank you Laura Nyro.
great songs!
God I love Blood Sweat &Tears, hope I'll get to see them play live.
Glad they're still playing.
Me gustaucho sus Interpretacion de las canciones
Good for you Drumcam! You got to drum with the "greatest band ever"!The greatest singer as well and you deserved to be with them. Keep on keepin' on Neil C............God Bless.
I see them 1995 in germany and I love this big man, he shaking his hips and sing so good. wow
Thanks for sharing 😊
Merci. Vos pensées sincères sont beaucoup appréciées.
no bands like this any longer.
Que maravilha este trecho dos anos "70"
BS&T is really Great BAND in this style music!
First time I heard B,S&T in early 70's at live performance in Helsinki, Finland !
I love Hi-de-Ho!!!!
@crodari brilliant just brilliant. jazz soul and funk in its early stages
Amazing Carole King composition and amazing rendition by Blood Sweat and Tears. Thanks to the incredible voice of David Clayton Thomas and the entire band.
Such a great performer !
STORMY GOOD !!!!
Brilliant! Thank you.
Preach it David Clayton Thomas!
Quel bonheur cette version de Hi De Ho, le passage à 1mn50s est magique ! Il faut être vraiment très pro pour réussir cette magie. Merci à Drumcam et n'oublions l'excellent Boby colomby
I'm 14 and my dad introduced me to BS&T not too long ago, and this is great stuff. Especially drumwise it's awesome. Clayton-Thomas really knows his stuff. And I will never like a song that uses autotune or made by computers. Music's made from the heart, not technology.
Grandes recuerdos ❤ era la primera canción de cuando empezaban los lentos en la boite MOGAMBO de Barcelona
On this day in 1969 {June 26th} Mary Travers performed "And When I Die" on the ABC-TV special 'The Mama Cass Television Program'...
Three years earlier Peter, Paul, & Mary had recorded it for their LP 'The Peter, Paul, and Mary Album'.
Later in 1969 on October 18th the Blood, Sweat, & Tears' version entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #2 {for 1 week}.
It was B,S,&T's third straight record to peaked at #2 {others were "You Made Me So Very Happy" and "Spinning Wheel"}.
@Thejbirdy Just to be clear, although BS&T recorded several Laura Nyro tunes (including And When I Die), Hi De Ho was written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin... Both great songs by great writers!
This is a great upload of BS&T! Thanks DRUMCAM for sharing. David Clayton-Thomas was born to sing with this band!!! Although I think he could have been a music conductor in a previous life. Great horns, bass and of course drums! Wish I could have been at this concert. Absolutly Fabulous!
Ahaaaaa yessss--just gimme some of that 'ole time religion {I mean Rock 'n Roll} Hi-De-Hoooo
EXELLENT
say what you want but this is some really good music wow!!! thanks for sharing
FANTASTICOS
It was in the Bobby Colomby - Steve Katz - David Clayton-Thomas era that BST really reached its pinnacle with "And When I Die," "You've Made Me So Very Happy" and "Spinning Wheel." For most of us, DCT remains "the voice" of BST. Hope you guys check out my mashup tribute to BST that spans 40 years on my channel.
You speak the truth, where has the talent gone?
This man has been to some black churches in his lifetime. The end is much like black gospel quartet music.
Az első Mo.-i fellépés csapata. Ott voltam, de leginkább a szakma kissé sápadt csapatát figyeltem. Reveláció volt. És ahogy fel voltak öltözve ... én így együtt egy kétcsillagos szállodába is csak erős fenntartásokkal engedtem volna be Őket.
Thanks Claudia ... for your encouraging words. Glad you enjoy my posts. More to come soon. Thanks again.
Miss Ron McClure and especially Jimmy Fielder on bass with their jazz 4 solos.
David Clayton Thomas !! The Shit !!
heaven, to me would be to go back to the days when all this came out. i was too busy "growing up" to kick back and enjoy the moment. WTF WAS I THINKING????? dear naps....i'm sorry i didn't like you when i was a kid!! i'm trying to make up for it today!
@coopm12 I, too, knew DCT professionally many years ago when I worked as an entertainment publicist for a Nevada Resort where we had booked DCT and BST on several occasions. I'd been a DCT/BST fan since I first saw them in concert in 1971 at the HIC Arena in Honolulu. It was with their 2nd album -- with DCT as lead vocalist -- that the group really scored it big. So I can't agree with you more!
DCT sure has a way of workin' the crown in ad lib.
ohhhhhh thats dam good mucic
ce magnifique passage à 1:52 que du bonheur !
"Once I met the devil
He was mighty slick
Tempted me with worldly goods
Said -you can have your pick-
But when he laid that paper on me
And he showed me where to sign
I said thank you very kindly
But I'm in too great a need of mine"
They just don't make lyrics like these anymore...
Such a great song. Y'all check out Straight No Chaser's version, too.
@Thejbirdy You are very welcome, Thejbirdy!...I love it when people share info with me, too!
@desertswo Yes, I am from Ontario, Canada and I totally agree. I saw great Canadian bands like April Wine , David Wilcox and Max Webster play in my high school auditorium, O'Neill C.V.I. Oshawa, Ontario. Todays music is a total joke as young people have become lazy, yes lazy and are not motivated like we were in the good old days before I-phones and notebooks.......
wow
@desertswo I can relate to that statement, desertswo!
David was actually born in England.
....this is really important to you isn't it....what total strangers here think of you.....I'll always be sad for you.
nothing like it
'And When I die' was that their best? Its total quality
only wanna go naturally.......where is everyone ? this band smokes ! dang, my telephone book is filling up with dead people.....
but, you cant short change chicago for their earlier stuff.
I think both bands are incredible
We've drifted so far away..... whats up with that... Music no longer exists in this domain... why?
i was like "yo, Casey Abrams brought me here!!!" then after watching this video, now im like "who the hell is Casey Abrams??"
Composer: Carole King
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ACE
@tl52 chicago !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did u hear the flip-side?
Holddedoor!
How long ago was this?
Pity this video stops all the time.
Also, I seem to remember they had another rendition with a different singer. Can anybody help me out?
You r right florafox, townywsmith2 is definitely the kind of guy that listens to musicals. He just doesn't get that the essence of music is heart and soul, not notes.....too much book learnin 4 ya.
crodari, you apparently mixed up David Clayton-Thomas with guitarist-vocalist Larry DeBari. Larry DeBari is no longer with us. He is greatly missed by all who knew him.
And when I die become popular with Viet Nam vets.
But he's not playing with Blood Sweat and Tears any more is he?
Nothin' like a REAL B-3. The others are all too thin.
does David Clayton Thomas still sing with B,S,T
dat was nog iets voor brbf in peer
