I cut hay back in the 1970's in Nebraska in Garfield county also racked, swept , slide stacker, cage stacker, free stacked, and also baled hay.....I loved your video I just wish it was longer.......
wow im impressed looked good. the grass looked good.that mower works well i would be afraid of getting stuck.looked like hard work. great video Brooks.
There is a very good reason why farmers sold these mowers for scrap metal, they were a massive pain in the arse. Just seeing you in action reminds me how bad they were and how overjoyed I was when our new drum mower arrived back in the 1970s.
They're still very popular in the upper midwest... Dakotas, Wyoming, Montana since it does the best job during dry years, light soils, or dealing with rocky ground. There's no comparison between a sickle mower today versus from one 30 years ago. Rowse and Kosch make good ones.
Brooks the cat tails and grass was tall from the way it was laying down most of the time it falls back from the blades and this was falling in front of the blades can't wait to see it raked and baled. I hate to tell you this a disk mower would bind up just as bad as the bar mower did in that tall of grass.
I would like to have that frame set up for sisk mowers instead of sickle bar mowers. Other than that I would not say that it does a bad job. I have cut with older sickle mowers and have seen the grass fall both ways.
I see that you have clog problem.Buy as a disc mower. I have a Taarup 2524 and i work with a 72 hp tractor, i go twice quicker than you do , only width is twice as smaller , but no blockages. The branches do not bother to the thickness of the hand .Taarup may not be present in America but you have a Kubota, a Vicon, Kverneland, Deutz-Fhair that is the same thing. Maybe they and other brands even better but I did not have any other

Great video, what state you in !
Good operator.
tough to mow, will baling be any easier?
Soybean Farmer Mowing was the easy part. I'll just say the water table in this slough is very high.

Would be nice to see Rowse make a disk mower... built on their heavy frames that their known for.
Disc mower in your future I hope??
Holler Haven Farms Maybe.
Vermeer TM1410 might be a good fit.
You need a disc mower in the worst way
It's kind of nerve racking cutting were you haven't been
C6 Farms Not too bad, just a lot of unknowns for obstacles or sinkholes is what usually worries me.
