omg yeah, in the jp yumejoshi community it's super common to take either plush toys or acrylic stands of your favourite characters out to restaurants with you and take pictures of them with the food. esp if your favourite character is from something that does a lot of cafe collabs. ive never really seen people do it with nendos but considering the amount of carry cases good smile have been putting out i have to assume there's some kind of market for it, and a nendoroid surprise seems like the perfect balance between a nendo and an acrylic stand
yes!! it's often referred to as 推し活/oshikatsu which means oshi activities, oshi meaning your favorite (basically the japanese equivalent of bias but i'm assuming more people know the word now cuz of oshi no ko)! i'm into collecting merch so i follow a lot of accounts that do it, there's something sorta unifying about seeing others be so open about their favorite characters in public it's hard to explain LOL. i hope it becomes more universal it seems like such a fun thing to do with friends :)
Considering how Japan is littered with anime/manga events and collaborations such as spas cafes hotels zoos amusement parks universal studios pop up shops etc I dont see how anyone would see someone carrying around anime/manga characters plushies figures and acrylic as strange when it literally falls under the norm over there. I wish we had Ichibansho Kujis in the west, sigh.

I love seeing videos that focus on male figures. My collection is 95% male figures so it is nice to see them. I do like seeing videos with female figures but, when I go shopping etc, all I see is female ones so when I see male ones I like, I snap them up! I was trying to get that fruits basket one for my friend for her xmas but, given how expensive he is....I may have to abstain! Taking a figure with you is a thing! I work in student support and when I scribe and read for exams, I see some comfort things students bring with them into the exams. One I had just this week, brought a little anime figure in with her. That broke the ice and gave us something to chat about before the exam as I had my Zoro and Sanji One Piece Ita Bag with me. She saw Zoro and Sanji in it and boom, we could have a calm time before the exam.
Yay for more male figures 😉! They're more rare than female figure, for sure. My fav ones from your collection are Gilgamesh and Ozymandias, they're hot 🔥 and love me some mythological guys!
the gojo estream is amazing for its price since its been 2 years ish and he still isnt leaning??? Absolutely no figure lean. Clean. Wished they made figures like they used to.
I get bored watching people taking things out of packaging so don't feel bad not showing that process! I usually fast forward so I can get to the part where they actually show the figure.
I also remember when eStream first announced crystal dress rem. I bought her 😂. She does seem to stay above retail unlike the more recent eStream figures.
The only Nendoroid surprise equivalent I can think of are the Sony Nendoroid Classic Mini blind boxes that are only available for purchase from GoodSmile directly (I think only in on the US store?).
While I can appreciate the production value that goes into an elaborate and dynamic base, I prefer figures that speak to me and stand on their own merits. Figures with simpler and smaller bases also lets me easily pair them with others and integrate them into custom environments. While I love the Nendoroid Petite of the Madoka series (funny enough, I did take them to work), I do prefer the standard Nendoroids, as I like to repose them every now and then. I consider them more like toys that let me reenact my favorite scenes, than one-and-done static works of art.
Your comments regarding male figures being "uninteresting" seems to reflect a societal need for more encouragement for us GUYS to gain more access to things like "vulnerability," "fashion," "beauty," "love," "compassion" "femininity" etc in the same way we encourage women to be "strong." Some of my favorite male characters who "flip the script" is Momiji/Ritsu (Fruits Basket,) Honey Sempai (Host Club,) Shinji/Armin (AoT,) Mamoru (Kamen Rider Amazons,) Rolo (Code:Geass,) 😎
The Fnex Gojo is the best looking Gojo of all the available Gojo's for me 🙏 glad you finally opened him 😆. Tis a shame about the base seam BUT he's so pretty so I forgive him 😆🥹💖. I want there to be an equally sexy Nanami figure to go with him the same scale. I have the Kotobukiya one but he's only 1/8th 😅. I was totally the same too. 90% of my figures are girls and I only drew female characters cos they were cuter and more fun to draw so now I can't draw manly guys at all 🤣
As someone who own 50$ figures at best, I genuinely wanted to insta pre-order that Nobara figure, BUT THE FACE IRKS ME SO MUCH. Also, not sure if it really is the case, but since her sleeve is torn, i assume it's from the end of season 1 where they fight the cursed fetus brothers and well... her body was rotting and she stabbed like 3 nails into that arm.. the figure shows a perfectly fine looking arm. Again, I could be wrong and maybe it looks perfectly fine after? Idk.
Sfire Gojo and Nobara sadly looks pretty sad irl... Saw some photos and Nobara's face kinda not even close to how she looks like. Gojo just ugly there :c Was inlove with Nobara but... ugh Personally have a hyperfix on Gojo and got the tongue one month ago. Absolutely happy about it

SPOILER ALERT FOR JUJUTSU KAISEN: Do not read if you haven't seen the Shibuya Arc Before this season was released I had no idea why they would have Gojo with his tongue sticking out kind of looking "crazy" since it didn't really seem like something he would do. But I think this figure is based on the fight scene between Gojo and Toji in episode 4. Watching that fight scene and then looking at that figure will change your perspective about the face almost immediately because you realize that he can have these crazy, non-composed moments.
Eh no its based on the 4 Volume of the manga Gojos cover art. They are also going to release Geto estream scramble figure as well after 2nd season being animated based on 9(iirc) Volume cover art showing Geto. But yes you arent wrong Gojo can loose his composure a few times after having to put up his facade and title for like 10years
I had to settle with Funko pops (yes I know) just because I couldnt get the Kyo and Yuki figures ugh, very lucky you got it though. And yes those 2 Gojo figures are some of the best with recently the new 2nd season action scenes showing Gojo using his CTs. I chose the estream because it was more faithful to an action pose but man I do want his sitting figure as well except I have too much Gojo lol and I need variety in my shelves. I would like a hot Sukuna figure but I havent seen a decent looking one that doesnt look too plastic. Well more like I want to see him with his traditional clothing before he fights Gojo... except I prefer Yuujis body... so we will see if we get good figures of him in the future I was looking at Nobara as well and yes completely agree she looks beautiful with her op hairpin pose except I noticed she doesnt have the roses posion on her face and that threw me off so no, huge pass for me. Honestly I wouldnt pay $300+ for a plastic figure, better off paying that and a little more a resin at that point.
The few figures I have are mostly male, and with the Collar x Malice nendos coming out eventually that ratio will only grow 😂 thank you for another great video!! ❤
I would really like an ordinary looking Shinji figure...I just need something decent to put next to my Eva figures (like the actual Eva units). I've ordered the Nendoroid but a scale figure or decent quality prize would be nice. Tons of Asuka and Rei ones but even there there's all sorts of "variants" like the long hair one or wearing a hoodie or something. Anime accurate ones are tougher to find new.
