Wow Sandro!! Learning more about paint protection from you than from the last 50 videos I have watched!! Keep them coming. Excellent content with down to earth, easy to follow information!! As always, thank you!!
Use to be a HUGE fan of P21S until I discovered Zaino years ago here in the great NW of USA. We get LOTS of rain so loved the durability of it and how hydrophobic it was. Then I discovered nano coatings and haven't looked back. Thanks for sharing how to best remove - something that is I'm guessing still a mystery to most enthusiasts.
I have been watching your videos for a little while and after seeing the results of this (and the follow up video) I have bought some CQ UK 3.0 (along with a few of their other products you have used and recommended). It's great to see such impartial and lengthy videos that really do show the differences between products, the issues you have experienced and the ways you have worked around them!
Great video, would love to see one similar comparing ceramic coated paint toppers, reload, overcoat and others to name a few. Very keen to see how they last also under similar tests
another grate vid as we all fuss over doing the right prep work b4 correction and coating the car but when it comes to removing the coating we dont spend time in finding the right/safe way we should be going about it.
Agree, great video, but maybe I'm misunderstanding. You are spraying different types of removers over the same spots, so each remover, sprayed on after you have already sprayed on two rounds of other removers, would absolutely show it has removed more. IF you aren't showing the strength of each remover, then that's fine. I just want others to not make an assumption on what removers you are using and how strong they are. Well done. I use P21s and CQuartz, great to see them in action.
This is very helpful. Yesterday i stupidly put a layer of ceramic coating on my side mirror, and n0w the visibility was affected. I will try to rem0ve the coating using paint thinner.
Great video really highlighted to me how the cquatz had the best durability but how wax looked the best "on my phone" and how to remove properly. Thanks 👍got some great tips from this channel like use a stick to touch up stones chips not a brush ... legend
Yep a tooth pick is the best tool to use for paint chips. :) also some companies sell various paint chip repair sets like a little thimble to fill and the end has a little tip which fills up with paint and you simply dab it on the paint chips which is normally used on the bonnets, but use a tooth pick on the front end of the cars etc. :)
Absolutely fantastic video Sandro, I love it. Thank you for taking on board the request and quickly publishing the video, you are truly a guy who loves his job and listens to his subs 👍👍👍 looking forward to the next vid now mate, enjoy the start of the good weather on Aus as in the UK we are now pretty much starting winter and it’s 0 degrees centigrade in the mornings, wonderful... not, lol. Take it easy mate 👍👍👍
I was shown to test a painted car panel use prep sol and remove all the clear and waxes and then use your finger with a little water and run your finger down the painted surface and it should show no reflection and your finger should almost stick to the paint surface as you run it even with water as a lubricant. :) It will also be a faded appearance, thats if your going to paint the surface again. :)
Great info. How well does a ceramic coating hold up to harmful chemicals such as brake fluid. We all know brake fluid kills paint, would a ceramic provide any protection?
I love your videos!.. I have scoured all of UA-cam and yours are the best!. The most through, practical, and helpful. You are like the yoda of detailing 😂😂 from Boston USA
Good video Sandro... It's good to see the coating standing up to all but the strongest solvents. It's confusing at times because there is so much contradictory information regarding coatings and I do acknowledge that every case is different and meanings can sometimes be lost in translation. I have seen videos from very reputable detailers saying a harsh car wash solution will remove coatings in a couple of months after weekly washes. I noticed one of your viewers reported removing Fusso using OPC 3:1. Would of loved to see it against the Cquazt in a test like this. The coating would win but be interested to see how long Fusso lasted mainly because I watched people trying to remove it with Megs Super Degreaser and 50% IPA and have little affect. As you know I am new to applying coatings and I have a question. If you apllied the coating to whole bonnet but found patch the size of 6" pad didn't set properly is it possible to remove just the area that hasn't set an reapply or would I remove from whole coating and do again?
Sandro another awesome video. What would be a good foam for everyday washes (seems snow+ is good for decontamination but might strip the reload I have on there currently) Keep these videos coming they just keep getting better!
Car Craft Auto Detailing Have you ever tried any of the chemical guys detail sprays? I've tried speed wipe, P40 and the slick synthetic. Jury is still out on them lol
Would love to see how each would hold up over time with a ph neutral soap. I believe there is a big difference in depth and gloss between ceramic and wax/solvent. Would take some time to record but would love to see that video.
Prep sol, which is what most paint and panel shop repairs use to remove any wax or polishes from painted surfaces to prep it to paint again ? Still any wax remover can be used, but check with a paint or panel shop supply chain or shop. :)
That's a true statement five detailers using almost the same product/process would get varying degrees of results, I think is about love of the craft hrm🤔?
I used P21S 100% carnauba wax ( also labeled as R222 in some countries) for the first time on my new 2020 black Silverado High Country, before applying the wax I spent 12 hours on paint correction due to dealer new car prep damage. I choose this wax based on reviews here on youtube, over the last 35 years I have tried most every wax, sealer, glass coating and polymer wax looking for that product that looks good and lasts, lets be honest, what good is a product if it only lasts a few weeks. We have all seen the water hose test done on newly waxed cars but that means nothing when it comes to durability. In April 2020 I applied the P21S to my entire truck, top surfaces were given 2 coats, by the end of May 2020 the wax was already gone from the hood and roof panels leaving them exposed to environmental damage, June 2020 I had to again paint correct the hood and roof due to hard water spotting into the paint requiring machine compounding then DA polishing. I might add that the truck was only washed 2 times in those 2 months using car wash soap and I live in the northeast so extreme sun was not the cause of the wax failure. Of all the coatings I have used in 35 years P21S rakes dead last in durability If you value your time and money P21S is not worth your while, on the other hand if your car never sees rain or stays in the garage then maybe this wax is for you.
does a generic cleaner wax(no abrasives) or "polish"-(contains some very light abrasives) have the ability to remove an enthusiast coating like car-pro-lite. i have to be very careful with harsh chemicals in sunny south Florida due to the heat.
Ceramic coatings are only effective when you have a good correction done or paint that is in good condition to new. I have used many products that claim to be a long term solution and ceramic coatings is not on my top list, So you can better understand a ceramic coating you need to look at it like a Teflon or ceramic coated frying pan, If I use daily it will wear out in less than a year, if it lasted 5 years it’s because I only used it once a month, Same thing with ceramic coats, you want it to last 5 years don’t wash it by hand or machine in fact don’t touch at all, don’t drive in the rain, don’t take it out during extreme weather conditions, keep it inside a garage, covered parking or better yet in a climate controlled bubble. I enjoy polishing and sealing my cars at least once a year, all my rides still look like new even after 18 years. And yes even my work truck looks good minus a few rock chips from daily wear.
Once coating becomes standard doesn't this mean detailers are going to be little irrelevant ? Everyone will get the ceramic nano coating or whatever which they claim can last upto 5yrs.
Stephen Carbonaro Frankly, it shows that for real world use of people who love their cars, have enough time to wash but not enough to completely reapply protection after every wash, good coatings are the only practical choice. Coatings have rendered waxes and sealants obsolete in terms of real world performance of cars that are actually used and not garage queens.
4G12 exactly. Every time I wash my car, just once, after waxing, I see how slow the water starts coming off. I follow up with a good spray sealant, but how much protection is that really providing. I just can't seem to find the time to coat both of my vehicles, but really want to get on it after the Pennsylvania winter.
Stephen Carbonaro try geyon wet coat if you want something quick and easy to apply. I wash my cars weekly, the coating just sprays on to a wet car, pressure wash off and voila... a paint protection film that can last 2 - 3 months in the real world and feels nice and smooth, hope this helps 👍👍👍
Hi there, I believe there are thinners out there that don’t harm the paint viciously on cars. Have you tried those different types? Arclic it’s called from memory. Would like to know your experience sir. Timmy’s Hand Car Wash. Adem
Yes acrylic thinners. I think that’s the least aggressive out of the range. Had no issues with it so far and removed coatings well apart from Gtechniq Crystal Serum. Have you tried removing this specific ceramic coating from cars?
Look at the clean distortion free reflection in that paint.. To my detailer's OCD and I, that is as beautiful as any painting or work of art. =) Was the Cquartz application sped up? There is always a lot more of a tacky feel and drag resistance when I apply it..
Amazing video dude !! Thankyou so much for all your hard work it's really appreciated. I'm a detailer and love watching your videos just to refresh ideas and find new techniques. They are always brilliant and easy to understand what your trying to explain. Thanks brother much appreciated!!
Very informative. Thank you. Question: I have a black car with five coatings of Ceramic Ph9, it looks good but at some point I may remove it. How would suggest I go by removing it?
Hey Sandro, I noticed some water spots (from neighbour sprinkler) on my ceramic coated car right before I left for a bizz trip this morning. By the time I get back to clean the car at the end of this week it will be almost a week. Do you think it would still be easy to clean these spots off by then? Any tip is appreciated!!
Car Craft Auto Detailing thanks, ordered Spotless from Waxit just in case. It's been mostly cloudy with light rain in Sydney. From your experience, how long does it normally takes for water spots to etch into paint?
I'd say go for the reload. It's much easier to apply than any sealant and it can be applied to everything and anything. I used 2 bottles and still ordered a third one
Another one very usefull video , i have the car pro essence plus and as topper reload. I did not really love the durability of it , i opted for a labocosmetica cupido they say is safe to aply over it , but if i wanted to remove it would a gyeon prep after a iron decon remove it ? Its been on the car at 1month and half . I have eard the metod of apc i have the labocosmetica ductile how concentrated should it be to actually strip? Best regards and awesome job as usual
I applied gyeon rim coating on my rims 8 months ago and wondering if I can reapply it simply by doing a full decontamination and re apply it? Or do I have wait more time?
You can, just be aware that it is more aggressive than an IPA mix, so on softer paints it can make them even more sensitive and more susceptible to scratches.
I was shocked that you were able to lift the coating without polishing. I guess really when you think about a coating it’s a resin with suspended particles of SIO2 so the resin can be dissolved
If I need to paint correct first, and want to go ceramic coating, would the steps be, wash, Clay, wash, compound, polish and then ceramic coating rather than the wax and sealant?
Just a quick Q, where do you get the clear shampoo bottles from? I like to see what inside however all bottles that i found are mat white/only semi transparent
nice one.. cheers for coming back to me.. great work Sandro.. just thinking, have you done any work with TFR / citrus prewashes, that are popular in the UK? I have just ordered AG Multiwash TFR (5L) to see how it works vs snow foam. Might be good video to bring more awareness of what TFRs do.
Anyone knows that P21s is a beauty wax, not a wax for durability. It's good for maybe 4-6 weeks. Poor choice of a carnauba wax test for durability. Beauty yes, durability no.
Thank you for yet another great and enlightening review. Just that i feel so sad that my favourite wolfgang dgs perform so poorly. Its so easy to apply and remove and so glossy. No wonder i use a spray wax after every wash as a topper. Yet I’m so scared to take the leap i to coating. Looks like i have to reapply sealant every month?
Car Craft Auto Detailing I have 100% PolishAngel ... including SPRITZ. They say it doesnt make sense putting a wax over a glasscoat or ceramic coat...it contains SiO and TIO2
Car Craft Auto Detailing thanks...yes you are right its a hybrid coating. Its not a sealant its not a glasscoat. I will just use SPRITZ to maintain and perhaps ARTS. Thx again. Great feedback.
Great video Sandro I think using little cap cleaner in wash work good been watching apex detailing he puts tide laundry soap it cheaper but is stronger then most car wash soap it's in concentrate work very well on carpets checkout dallas paint correction and detaling the reveiw on torqe 22d long throw polisher been pretty good it come in 240 volt also checking on adams swirl buster 15mm throw and new 3 inch 12mm throw polisher. Check out apex detailing and Dallas paint correction and detailing they test a lot stuff out
Unfortunately the results are askewed and misleading. You are not using pure paint as all current coatings are clear over base, the clear acting as both a gloss, a base coating protectant, ie the colour, and acts as a low tension hydrophilic protectant, so you will never completely remove this phenomenon. The only professional techniques, those recognised by the research and development chemists, is to use a raw unprotected, meaning no clear, coated surface of uniform thickness. This will give pure, unmolested results. Secondly, all surface decontamination formulas will remove a microscopic layer of protective clear or unprotected paint. This is clearly measured in microns, easily proven thru thickness testing and cannot be replaced with neither aftermarket or professional products. The only way is to chemically replicate the orginal coating under laboratory conditions to stop rejection. Thirdly, you cannot add to nanotech finishes nor to SiO2 coatings. They are impervious and designed to deteriorate, otherwise known as sacrificial , over a number of years, the average life expectancy being between 4 and 6 years before the clear is no longer providing the sacrificial properties, and the base colour become sacrificial . Again, this depends on many factors and is the average given to Australian cars due to our extremely high UV exposure and high airbourne contaminates. I hope this give everyone a deeper insight.
If you’re going to go through the trouble to invalidate this practical production with talks of chemistry and absolutes, make your own damn video. It’s more annoying than anything I could have critically observed from Sandro’s efforts.
Sandro that was a great video of how these product react, i was not surprise of the Carpro product from my own experience great product for the money. One question is it whorted to put a good wax on top of the Cquartz.
Couldn't the soap just leave a film behind masking the protection underneath. This would make it appear there's no protection due to the lack of beading but there actually is, it's simply being masked.
Hi Sandro, another great video. Thanks for taking the time for putting it together. I have been researching the topic of decontamination lately (as preparation for applying a new ceramic coating). Here are a couple of questions for you: 1) Do you think that other APCs (Superclean, Meguiar's APC/Super degreaser, or Bilt Hamber surfex HD) would work as good as OPC? Would a dilution of 4:1 or 2:1 would be enough? 2) Have you had the opportunity to use Poorboy’s World Strip Down Wax Stripper? I haven't used it myself yet. You are supposed to wash your car as usual, spray the stripper, and then wash again. It looks like it can also strip ceramic coatings. Check this video: ua-cam.com/video/6UlRhG88wR4/v-deo.html And more info here: www.autogeek.net/pb-strip-down.html I'm not sure if it is available in Australia but it would be great if you could test it.
looks like wolfgang won this one, ceramic coatings are overrated and overpriced, wolfgang can be applied 3 times a year. coatings are way too expensive and are for the lazy
Don't be to stingy..if you enthusiat or hobbies about detailing, each formula had their own expired..if you keep them to long the effectiveness will decrease.. If the product that i use say it can hold till 6 months, i will rewax/resealent/recoating again in 3months.specially if it daily use vehicle.. but that just me.. Very educative video But better if coating you use for coating is semi permanent coating, not a ceramic coating so it a bit fair 😄
Wow Sandro!! Learning more about paint protection from you than from the last 50 videos I have watched!! Keep them coming. Excellent content with down to earth, easy to follow information!! As always, thank you!!
Not a single second wasted in the video I thought would be a bit too long. Great work!

Anyone knows that P21s is a beauty wax, not a wax for durability. It's good for maybe 4-6 weeks. Poor choice of a carnauba wax test for durability. Beauty yes, durability no.
Could you put ceramic coating on top of sealant?
Or could you put sealant on the ceramic coating?
You can put sealant on top of cured coating, coating on top of sealant will not bond properly
Car Craft Auto Detailing in your opinion can the shine and gloss of a Wolfgang dgs match that of a ceramic coating?
Any reviews on CQuartz Finest Reserve vs CQuartz U.K.? There seems to be a 3 year warranty on CQuartz Finest Reserve.
Looking forward to a video review on the Finest Reserve. Thanks!
Do you recommend a wax putting on top of glasscoat and or sealant? Or just leave it...
Car Craft Auto Detailing I have 100% PolishAngel ... including SPRITZ. They say it doesnt make sense putting a wax over a glasscoat or ceramic coat...it contains SiO and TIO2
Car Craft Auto Detailing POLISHANGEL contains SiO and TiO2... dont they all have that?..
Car Craft Auto Detailing Car Craft Auto Detailing POLISHANGEL contains SiO and TiO2... dont they all have that?..
Thanks sandro i wasen't sure but your right.
excellent video thank you
curious, have you ever worked with TAC SYSTEM QUARTZ SHINE? pretty much the only coating that i can get without having to sell my house.
You sound like the ancient architects guy.
Here are a couple of questions for you:
1) Do you think that other APCs (Superclean, Meguiar's APC/Super degreaser, or Bilt Hamber surfex HD) would work as good as OPC? Would a dilution of 4:1 or 2:1 would be enough?
2) Have you had the opportunity to use Poorboy’s World Strip Down Wax Stripper? I haven't used it myself yet. You are supposed to wash your car as usual, spray the stripper, and then wash again. It looks like it can also strip ceramic coatings.
Check this video:

And more info here:

I'm not sure if it is available in Australia but it would be great if you could test it.
Great
looks like wolfgang won this one, ceramic coatings are overrated and overpriced, wolfgang can be applied 3 times a year. coatings are way too expensive and are for the lazy
Very educative video
But better if coating you use for coating is semi permanent coating, not a ceramic coating so it a bit fair 😄
cost wise it all works out the same,....
What a waste of water,use a chamois.
