Absolute same sentiment man. I still remember my friend giving me an extra disc he had and it, without hyperbole, changed my life. Has to be my most played game as a teen and younger.
It was one of my first games as well, though my first love was Doom 2. But AoE2 is still on my "best 10 videogames of your life" list, so I totally agree with your points about it. It's a great game, highly replayable, though I haven't been playing it for decades, since I've been away from videogames for many years. But I'm slowly getting back and I'm definitely planning on getting the Definitive Edition (it's in my Christmas wishlist, together with Space Marines II and The Expanse: A Telltale Series Deluxe Edition).
Ooh, Doom... one day I’ll talk about that masterpiece too. And welcome back! :) Hope you enjoy it and find the time to play... it’s totally worth it (coming from a 30-something who’s still gaming hahaha). Thanks for your comment!
@RokkoFonso I had to edit the post, because after writing it I realized it was Doom 2, not Doom. Talk about age and memory loss ^^". As for AoE2 Definitive Edition, if I won't receive it for Christmas, I'll buy it anyway ^^.
I know how you feel chap. My experience was very similar, only with Age of Mythology instead. It kick-started my imagination, and created a love of games, history, mythology, fantasy and epic stories that has made me who I am today. :)
