I love your enthusiasm. Sixteen years ago I bought a running 1983 "beater with a heater" squarebody for $800 hoping it would last a single summer while I hauled building materials and roofing for a rental I was renovating and then I'd junk it. Still driving it all these later and still moving dirt/rocks/lumber/appliances/concrete blocks. I just love these old trucks and quietly laugh at people in their $60,000 lifted pickups awkwardly trying to secure lumber in a 4.5' bed with straps and blankets while I slam the tailgate and drive away with 30 sheets of plywood.
That’s so awesome. I actually just bought my first house a couple months ago and I’ve been using this thing for the same stuff. It took me 4 weeks to make a video on the truck because I was actually using it😂 thanks for sharing the story sir that’s very cool
Love the squarebodies I've got two of them a 78 k10 shortbed 350 sm465 / 205 10 bolt front 12 bolt rear 35s and 6 inch lift and an 86 k5 m1009 military 6.2 diesel th400 203 10 bolt front 10 bolt G80 rear on 33s and 2.5 lift
That thing is sweet! Looks like a perfect trail rig to me. Weld in some tube steel sliders, lockers and a winch and it'd be unstoppable. Or replace the panels, paint it and it'd be a nice driver.
Got a 76 same exact truck , got it in the same shape as yours . It now looks great . Tip use stock rims , paint tnem silver , put 315 70r 16 Ironmam m/t's on it with the stock hubcaps . Looks bad ass and the tires arent expensive. They are 35 inches tall and you will love the look.
@@harleystillwell7519 yeah the trucks up till the 2000's were really bad with rust. the square bodies rusted on the showroom floors. they didn't know alot about using zinc on the steel. the good thing is you can cut and replace every body panel these truck have. you just need the patch piece a welder and spare time.
The hood looks nice- be sure to lube the hood hinges so it doesn’t get bent when closing it- lot of 70s squares have “bowed” hoods because the hinges not properly lube- nice project truck 👍
Ya dude, its all about that Orange with the white bumper, the white mirrors and the white roof! Id put those white stock wheels back on it. I just picked up a 76 K20 Scottsdale that is the same orange with the white down the sides, but someone sprayed black primer on over alot of it, uggghhhh, gotta figure out how to get that off hopefully, then its gonna real prutty. Congrats!
You gotta get that off of there! It’s the best color combo I swear lol. Sadly I only have 3 of the stock wheels. I’m trying to find a set of Bart super trucker wheels to powder coat white. I think that would make the truck. Good luck with yours!

How much did you pay for
5:29 the doors are nice cuz they are aftermarket doors they don't have the factory stickers on them in the door jams.
They must’ve replaced them when they patched the bed and rockers👍🏻

@mromatic17 In my opinion the squarebodys are super tougth trucks. The 90s to about 2015 in GM were the Worst on rust
Beautiful Truck Buddy only certain people appreciate them I have an ,80 K20 bout a year looks just like that take care

is the truck open headers?
Nope it’s dumped under the bed, and it has what looks like 2 glass packs to me
This is a badass unit!!!
How much did you pay for it?
Let’s just say probably 3 times the scrap price. A great deal
😮
