The long lost Adam Spanich buzzer beater. I cannot find this clip anywhere else on the internet. I have had this clip collecting dust on VHS for almost 10 years now. I've never seen it on "Greatest Plays" highlight shows. I finally got some equipment to put this up on UA-cam. - Спорт
Brian Scalabrine made this happen.
go dbacks!
Scal makes greatness happen..
The white mamba himself
Is that me!! OMG!
WTF
Awesome!
Haha wow. I read your name on the jersey, then on your comment.
Fake Brian Scalabrine
'What happened? Did he fall off the bench?'
One of the best lines in the movie... 😆
I love that this is the only college highlight I can find for scalabrine
I remember watching this game live in the kitchen at home when I was a teenager. The sports memory is great but more greater is that it was with family.
Instant replay would have ruined this haha
WOW. the white mamba effect
Exactly what i want to say
the ball was in his hand when time expired
+Nathaniel Kahn You're right. After about 10 tries I was able to pause it with zeroes on the clock and the ball in his hands.
yeah with 0.8 seconds no way you can get a dribble and shot in
@@fprosk it was definitely out..who ever was keeping track of the time fucked up
@@fprosk good point
Nah i checked yall wrong
They did this cause they had the goat Brian scalabrine
Yes!!!!!!!
I’ll get you banned from UA-cam
I remember seeing this live from the balcony seats. The entire arena was just beyond stunned.
SCALABRINE!!!!!!!!!
No doubt, the GREATEST ending I have and will probably ever see in a basketball game!!!!! WOW!!!!
:20 RARE WHITE MAMBA SIGHTING
oh maaaaaannnn! this is a long lost clip...straight from the VHS archives haha. thanks you sooo much for putting this up 6 points in 2.8 seconds...incredible....yes it wouldn' have counted with the instant replay we have now but it was still incredible! i was 8 years old when i watched this live january 1999 10 years ago! almost 19 now man! thanks for putting this up can watch it over and over again...
The shots were crazy but how can someone dribble the ball then shoot in 0.8 seconds?
They started the buzzer late
They can’t. Shouldn’t have counted
i didnt even need the replay to know it was too late. u could clearly hear the horn before he released
Other great comebacks (and great performances) I'll always remember:
- Lakers' 27-point comeback in the 4th quarter vs. Dallas.
- McGrady scoring 13 points in the last 35 seconds to beat the Spurs. Houston came from 10 down with less than 50 seconds left.
- UNLV coming from 10 down in 18 seconds vs. San Diego St.
- Illinois coming from 12 down with 3 minutes left to shock Arizona in the regional finals.
And countless others...
Texas A&M down 12 with 44 seconds to go against Northern Iowa. And Texas A&M only hit 1 three pointer on the way to force OT. Wild
did anyone else notice that they put the points for the wrong team
Yeah I saw that
@@MrSkeleton131 hahah
The announcer even says: ". . . . And they win by 1...87 to 82." Lol
Spanich did indeed score both shots, 6 points in the last 0.8 seconds to win it.
In the previous year, he hit a miracle buzzer beater shot vs. Arizona to hand them their only Pac-10 loss. In the same game he also hit two free throws late in regulation and a three to send it in overtime.
Thank you very much for posting this. As a Duck, it pains me to see it again after watching it live. But it is weird that i've never seen it in any "amazing finishes" lists, even on FSN. I guess it just ended too late on the east coast for enough people to see it.
Great assist by the inbounder
Thanks joshb for putting this up.
The Kings comeback was amazing, but they had a lot of time left in the game and they did get within striking distance to start the fourth quarter. It was absolutely incredible, one of those 1-1000 deals.
But it's still tougher to come from 5 down in 2.8 seconds. Inbounding the ball and making an instant three with time remaining is tough enough; stealing the ball with 0.8 seconds remaining and making a halfcourt shot is absolutely nuts.
Uau....almost 10 years waiting to see this moment again! I was watching it live from Colombia when it happened. Thanks 4 the upload.
I like how the guy is criticizing Spanich for making a "classless act". The guy just made one of the most ridiculous plays in college basketball history, I think he deserves a pass.
2:26 minute clip for 2.8 seconds. Describes the NBA perfectly
Nice job for finding this this is amazing!
Commentator fails
"Absolute miracle"
"5 point play"
"87-82"
Loved watching this team
Proof you keep playing until the buzzer sounds. That the same kid hit both shots makes it much sweeter!
How does this not have like 1 milllion + views?
This is BEYOND EPIC!
Great video. I love this stuff
dang man that was sick... this is going to my favs
Was that a velociraptor yelling after the game-winner?
what a miracle
I've been looking for this forever. I remember watching it live and jumping out of my seat, and I wasn't a fan of either team.
i love how everyone runs toward the guy who made the buzzer beater in college basketball lol. it's like instant chaos.
It's because scal is on the team
yeah. he gave that team the heart.
I remember watching this game, way back in the day.
I agree, Kentucky's comeback from 31 down was amazing. Also, KY's comeback from 17 down against duke in 1998 was another great comeback of all time.
it was still in his hands when the buzzer went off.
Boy did those announcers blow the call of this miracle. #1 miracle comeback of all time! The announcers AND the graphic guy got the score wrong saying 87-82 and who cares about the throat sign after that play.
Why I love basketball. The game's not over until the buzzer sounds.
I like how the shot didn't get off in time.
That coach’s Clipboard did it all
Incredible.
A MIRACLE A MIRACLE A MIRACLE A MIRACLE
That's what happens when u put in the white mamba during crunch time
i thought it was inpossible but then i saw number 24
Just saw this on FOX SPORTS 1's show fantastic finishes & wow Oregon got shafted! Its plays like this that brought Replay into basketball. To USC fans that may bash me if you watch it in slow mo you can clearly see ball left his hand when clock at 0:00 plus there is no way possible to catch ball take dribble & take shot .8 of a sec. Even if he caught it cleanly & went up for shot still nearly impossible!
incredible
If the play was reviewable I don't think the shot would have counted. If you hear the buzzer while watching Adam Spanich you could see that the ball is still in his hands. It was close though. Spanich, hated that guy, the year prior to this one he banked in a three to send a game against Arizona into overtime and then in overtime at the buzzer he hit a three pointer that made a lucky soft bounce on the rim and fell through. That three pointer beat Arizona and ruined their undefeated bid in the PAC-10. Ironically there was also 2.8 seconds left in that game in overtime. 🤔
The second you see that Scalabrine jersey... YOU KNOW SHITS ABOUT TO GO DOWN.
Brian Scalabrine is the GOAT that he *ONLY* made this happen.
1:44. How the times have changed. From classless and unneeded, to nowadays probably looked at as "savage" and so awesome and badass and we need more of it!
If you think that’s awesome and badass, then you need to get out more lmao
I was at this game in the student section. Obviously as a Duck, I didn't like how it ended ,but it was a great shot. What the video doesn't show you (though Tompkins alluded to it) was after, Spanich jumped on the table in front of the students. Not a huge deal to me, but his problem is it was "Hard Hat Night". They gave each of us pretty solid, heavy hard hats to wear during the game. Lets just say more than one ended up being flung at Spanich...
2nd shot would not have been allowed today. Still in his hands at buzzer. Seeing it was 1999, this is by far the greatest comeback in NCAA history...all sports! The Oregon cheerleaders have a classic reaction.
- Amazing!
wow thats is a quality comeback
This is unbelievable!
you can say theres better comebacks being down by 20 but that doesnt compare to hitting 2 three's in less than 3 seconds to win the game one being a half court shot at the buzzer
its simply amazing
At the end of this terrific clip the commentator announces to the audience:
"And they win it by one; 87-82."
I don't know what school THAT guy went to but he must have flunked math! 😁
EDIT: Great ending though. 👍👍
Way back in the day
This IS the greatest comeback in all of basketball history. It's easier to come back from 31 down or from 10 down with a minute to play than to come from 5 down in 2.8 seconds.
It's tough enough to score that first three with any time remaining... to be able to score the first three, steal a pass, and hit a halfcourt shot is off the charts. We will never see a better comeback in a hundred years.
unbelievable!
the scalabrine jokes never get old lmao
im a diehard kentucky fan....but i must say this. AMAZING.
The asian man with the clip board running from the USC bench, classic.
Thank you... Scalabranie
Adam Spanich is without a doubt the one basketball player in Pac-10 history who sold his soul to the devil.
Epic fail by the Oregon score keeper at 1:19 -- he added the points to Oregon instead of USC. Pwned!
Had it at .25 speed and paused it right at 0.00, but the quality of the image made it inconclusive if the ball was still touching his hands.. But there is a little delay before the clock starts after he catches it adding at least a couple tenths of a second.. But there is going to be some natural error in the starting of the clock, so you can't be expecting exactly 0.8 seconds down to the nanosecond
love it, no hate for this vid
He got it off by definition, per the the ref's call.
A Scalabrine sighting! I'm so excited
"87-82" smooth buddy
In the Philippines, winning a game with ample time remaining is a common occurrence, ever since 1979 :D
OK. But What Does That Have To Do With The Video Above? Oregon Had The Lead With 2.8 Seconds And Then Lost The Lead And The Game!
I bet the Spurs watch this to make them feel good about themselves all the time
shot was after the buzzer.
wow that'S amazing!!!!!!!
The goat
Geanne Ashlee I’ll get you banned from UA-cam
i think its a christmas miracle
Best part of this, is when the game was over Adam went over to the Student Section and acted like he cut his throat...All game the student section was yelling at Spanich that he sucked......Regis Royals for life!!!
Watching the ucks lose never gets old. I don't remember this but man is it hilarious.
@0:18 Scalabrine + Jersey n.24 + band playing the music from "Rocky".
Goddamn epic.
Kentucky Sports Radio brought me here
At 0:09 you can see The Great Scalabrine gathering his troops for a marvalous plan!
perfect example....the game aint over til its over
the point is they did not give up..good effort..
But it can be more exciting to watch a team come from 35 down than seeing a couple of funny things happen in 5 seconds; I'll give you that. We tend to remember the most exciting comebacks and not necessarily the most unlikely ones.
If u watch it again, pause it slowly and you will see the clock hit zero before he released it. Still an amazing shot though.
WOW.
didnt get the shot off did he?
L
"And they win by one, 87 to 82." lol uhhh?
The defense was too busy trying to contain Scalabrine.
Wow dang wow greatest comeback in pac-10 history!!!!!!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏💖💖💖👍👍👍👍😀
at least you can't argue whether his game winner in arizona counted or not.
Yes
Imagine how the opposing felt. TROLLED.
if you pause @ 2:03 you could clearly see that the ball was still in his hands as the clokc hit triple zeros replay would wave that off
#24 White Mamba made everyone BETTER
ball was still is his hand after the buzzer sounds
