Thank you that was probably the best tips i have heard from anywhere bc i learned all that by trial and error over the course of about a year maybe and you just summed it up in a few mins but its all very true what you stated thanks
Outstanding video! I am a beginner just now learning the effects of shading and how to make a drawing "pop". The rabbit example was insightful. I have now learned to look at my subject in grey scale values. This has helped me with landscapes. I now look at any subject and break down the shapes and grey scales next. It helps to get contrast in my drawings and make them "pop"!
Thank You for the video. My choice of transferring the image is a proportion divider. It helps to establish free hand as you correct and check your sketch.
Thank you for this, Gemma. I wonder if you'd come across good books on drawing still life. Everyone seems to love drawing people and pets, so not that much info on books dealing with still life.
Hi Gemma, I've done a drawing and the stubble on the guy's chin is highlighted. I need to make white dots one 8B pencil. any ideas what I can use? Tried Conté, charcoal pencil... no luck.
Have a look at some of my recent graphite videos - I started using an electric eraser to add fine detail highlights back in to my drawings and it was a game changer for me.
@promoYES what about gelly-roll pen? I normally only use them on colour pencil work but they are definitely bright white. They can be drawn over when dry to tone them down if needed
3:03 Well hard to find references of specific monsters on the internet....at least not the creatures I have in mind ;) However these are excellent tips. Thank you. PS.: at 7:25 I really think the second (2nd) sphere looks best. The third (3rd) looks too dark imho.
Get a 2b aswell as a hb, shade, and smudge a lot after following basic models and building on them, and you'll be golden. Most album art and stuff people post on social media is intermediate, you can hit this level in 6 months to 2 years, use the fact that you do real pencil art to your advantage as its becoming a novelty unfortunately.
Personally, shading looks mushy and kind of lifeless. Without shading it has got the character of graphite pencils and they look more pleasing to eye - at least my eye.
For some reason when I look at my drawing after sometime I feel like it looks way better
same here
Same😄
with me its the opposite 😬
Wow..I thought I was the only one who experience that
Same phenomenon happens to me
Just starting out and needing as much help as possible. Your tutorial was so easy to understand and has given me additional confidence.

This exactly what I needed to learn. Great help!
Thank you so much for the compass tip! That changed everything for me
Brilliant. The last tip is the telling one…👍
Thanks! I appreciate it very much. I wasn’t sure what you were calling the pencil that you used to really darken the picture.
hi Gemma what type of paper quality are you using for this work?. thanks
Excellent tips and information. Thank you!
Another tip is to from time to time during the process prop your drawing up and look at it from 4 or 5 feet away. Most art is viewed from a distance.
Very helpful and beautifully presented tutorial. Thanks!🙏 💖💐
Where is the pixel bay link in the description?

Yes I have one of those. Won’t erase solid 8B sadly. These need to be clear white dots. Anyway thanks for your prompt reply.

@@GemmaChambersArt Never heard of them. Someone suggested fine line acrylic pens so bought a couple. Thank you again!!!
@@GemmaChambersArt Yes, I've tracked down Gelly-Roll pens. Thank you.
Thanks for the advices👍🎨vive le dessin

You can always use a doll/action figure as a reference item.
