I have been watching DCI for the past few years now and have just entered my second year of marching band, and ben, hearing you play has made me want to take a career in music.
I'm like super late at commenting but man I bet his chops hurt so bad. At 7:02 what type horn was it ? A Fugle horn? Man it was gorugous at his solo 😍😂👏👏👏👏
Hey Ben! I am the lead trumpet in both Jazz and concert band and I just wanted to ask, how do you endure all of the music with your lips. For example, all of the amazing high notes you have to play to make the music sound better, how do you train to withstand all that playing straight without much break. Any techniques or tips you can give a fellow trumpeter?
Look up schlossberg exercises, arban's, and Clarke studies. And keep in mind when playing high it depends on your air and tongue shaping and not so much lips.
Hey bud this is probably gonna be a dumb question but it says you attended IU so would there be any chance of you being at IU band day because I have to go there for my band
The two dislikes had their phones downside up
Lol
Holy shit lmao
Nice one!
Ben, I think you're are currently the best trumpet soloist in all of DCI
Jon Williams who you got that's better
I didn't say who's best, I said pick one that's better.
Shayne O'Brien
It's funny how T/ilted you get over this. He played a G and a G sharp. Not "a single G"
Jon Williams why don't you just leave you're ideas to yourself instead of insulting my opinion like calm down
I love those crisp attacks that the great lead players have. This is an unbelievable headcam
Dude you and shane have got to be there most valuable trumpet players
I love the trumpet flips at 11:52
Zeldack How does Shane do it? It's so cool! :o
I DONT KNOW BUT I LOVE IT
just stick your finger in the 3rd valve slide ring and spin it
@@keenankrieger3409 I'm scared to try. Don't want my trumpet to fall
@@dwightwashere7174 fair!

shayne that g# at the end....... oof! it was beautiful. also ben you're a monster player man!!!!
I think the trumpet soloist at 5:33 made a mistake, and if he did, then he did a good recovery.
Amateur Pianist yeah, he probably missed a few notes, just a fluke
He's back!!!!
I love those low notes at 8:03
One of the best headcams of this show. Nice work, Ben.

Dang Ben. You guys are locked in. Great playing if that was a traditional concert... the fact you do that on the fly on a football field is insane.

Finally
What note is that at 3:33?
I think a G sharp
MasonLedbetter2536 2 Do you know what the note is at 12:14 That the guy in green is playing?
3:33 F# (Concert E Natural) 12:14 G# (Concert F#). I know I'm a bit late but its better now than never
Do you think getting a small external mic could make sound better? There are small polar pro ones
I couldnt stand on that thin of a platform and play a solo at the same time.
What is the name of this music? 3:07
zKonamYT they make their own music
why is this uploaded now?
the bass bone's pedals, yes please
any tips for playing with a harmon?
Hey bud this is probably gonna be a dumb question but it says you attended IU so would there be any chance of you being at IU band day because I have to go there for my band
What are the two notes you and Shane hit at the very end?
Was that a double e at the end by the other guy?
What exactly is that Shayne babble at the end
What horn do you guys use?
was this your last year with blue ben?
Was there a mess up at 5:34 ?
Mr.Boss5418 Long I think so
Mr.Boss5418 Long Bluecoats lead trumpets don't mess up, they just change the score on spot.
The Heavy Is A Spai xD
The Heavy Is A Spai thats going to be my excuse for this season of marching, "I just changed the drill sheet on the spot"
Jaden Whitton ok thanks for the info
I'm just wondering, what type of trumpet do you use to match with???
djmjr they're called Xeno or something
djmjr yamaha xeno
Most Corps use Yamaha Xenos, Jupiter’s, kings, and not totally sure if just BD Use system blue horns.
yamaha xeno, pretty sure it’s a 8345, reverse leadpipe
8:02 the tubas though
bass trombone, not tuba. pretty sure it’s just one or two dudes mic’ed up
What brand and model of trumpet do you use??
Avery - Pretty sure they use Yamaha’s, not sure of the exact model number
dude i didnt even know u guys still performed this. wheres the next one?
Jondlasater V2 They don't. This was a run recorded mid season.
What was this recorded with?
this is only 10 months late... lol
Question, since your corp marches Yamaha Xenos, how do you guys do the trumpet flips?
It's an ancient skill that lies dominant in the body of lead players. It only comes forth when the time is right.
Rip front ensemble guy at 4:21
What kind of mouthpiece?
What type of flugelhorn is that
A flugelhorn.
William Gutierrez very helpful thanks
what's your personal favorite part of this show?
buffalo? wats dat?
I subscribe
