    When F.A.R. Performance changed the strut-cartridges in my 240Z back in the 70's, they angled out the struts the same way that you did on the front end of your Supra! Their M.O. was way more sketchy though! Remove the wheels and tires from the car. Lower the suspension on blocks of wood. Have someone push down on the strut tower while another person wound 3-4 lengths of house wiring around the coils to keep them compressed! No fancy spring compressors were around in the 70's!

  • @postalpancho

    Lowering springs are extremely an underrated mod because people rather have cheap untuned coilovers that ride and drive like shit. I can’t tell you how often I see people show up at the track or autocross with poorly tuned suspensions just to get smoked by people running OEM suspension. Lowering spring manufactures already did the R&D so you don’t completely ruin the suspension geometry and can have a streetable performance with little compromise. This is the best choice for most builds. This is one of the few times where less is more. Anything more than an inch is just asking for trouble.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Рік тому

      Very true! Especially on a car like this. Stock dampers are so good and have two modes. Springs just make it better with no hassle. Unless you’re a hard car track driving and you actually know how to adjust suspension for each different track you’re on and different conditions. Coils on a car like this aren’t really worth it

    There is one demerit for installing coilovers: you can scrape and damage your car to the ground while going on bad roads. My family has a 2012 Kia Rio Hatchback with coilovers installed by the previous owner, so I can torture the car on damaged roads with my fat body!

  • @V1perKiller
    @V1perKiller Рік тому +1

    sorry for the noob question, is there any spring setup that's height adjustable without requiring the car to be lifted? Not asking for air suspension, something with a knob to turn manually and change the height. I'm not a fan of permanently lowering the Supra as it's pretty low as is.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Рік тому

      Technically yes. You can buy coilovers or adjustable lowering springs. You’ll have to take the wheel off, but you can adjust the right height manually for your desired height. Most cool over have a knob you can easily turn that will adjust the damping. But height takes a little more effort to adjust on coilovers

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Рік тому

      @@Danbae69 Keep in mind springs aren't cheating out. It depends on what you want your car to do. If you're not tracking a Supra, coilovers are a waste of money. The stock dampers are so good, better springs are all they need. Spending more money doesnt always mean better. That's just called wasting money

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  Місяць тому +1

      Were all the rubber ends of the springs installed all the way? They should drop everything even. Alignment will help a tad too. But if the rubber ends aren't twisted all the way, that could affect how tall the spring is. Within a few days everything was even on my car
