Quantum Entanglement: Explained in REALLY SIMPLE Words
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 чер 2024
- Quantum entanglement is a physical resource, like energy, that is possible between quantum systems. When a coin spins on a flat surface, it’s in a state of superposition between its two faces-head and tails. Similarly, electrons in their natural state exist as a superposition of both up and down spin. Only when measured do they give a definite value of up or down, which, in technical terms, is referred to as the “collapse of the wavefunction”.
In quantum mechanics, wave function collapse occurs when a wave function, which was initially in a superposition of a few states, reduces to a single state due to interaction with the external world.
When a pair of electrons are generated, interact, or share spatial proximity, their spin states can get entangled, which is what scientists call the quantum entanglement of electrons.
Quantum entanglement was first recognized by Einstein, Podolsky, Roson and Schrodinger. In this video, we explain quantum entanglement in simple terms so that it becomes accessible to laymen and children who are interested to know about quantum entanglement

Now that you have seen the video, let's have a poll. There has been so much debate about free and fair elections across the world. Do you think Quantum Entanglement can help in making elections a 100% fair and transparent process? (put your choice as a reply to this comment. If you have additional points, do make sure to put them in the comment)
A - Yes
B - Yes, but the relevant tech is impossible to make
C - No

"Accepting that Entanglement is a part of the natural world around us, has profound implications, it means that we must accept that an action in one place can have an instant effect anywhere in the Universe as if there is no space between them."
But it is possible only in world of sub atomic particle not applicable to whole physics not on all of us 😊😊
@@lioness318 It is possibly only in the sub-atomic world because our physics is not advanced enough to be able to provide the evidence that it applies to all of physics. This my opinion.
@@earthculture214I think there is something wrong, entanglement is just synchronization. Just look how particles get "entangled".
@@Braun09tvBut HOW do particles get entangled to begin with? That’s the part I don’t get. How do we know where an electrons partner is located? Have we performed entanglement between earths surface and somewhere outside our atmosphere or even orbit?
@@crawdad I only know the crystal for photons. The word "entangled" alone is a bit stupid. What does it actually explain? Entanglement is nothing more than the process of synchronization in my view. The rest is about manipulation coming from particle detectors. Something is fishy, they seem to try to sell a complex synchronization event as some kind of spooky entanglement voodoo. Come on guys.
Electrons are waves when emanating from atoms. They are waves of potential particles (superposition) and don't become particles (real) until they strike something or are measured (collapse of wave). This is why only one attribute of the electron can be measured in our slow mass time. When the potential particle is in the form of the wave (EM field) it does not exist in our slow mass time. Only when the electron is measured, strikes an object or is observed does it become a tiny bit of information represented as a particle or what we mentally perceive as something that is real within our slow mass time. Prior to the particle being measured is potential information within the wave. The particle because it converts to information upon measuring cannot be measured again because it already converted into information. The same particle can never be measured again. So only one attribute of a potential particle can be measured, hence uncertainty principle.
Quantum entanglement happens because all the potential particles within the wave don't exist in our slow mass time until they are measured. So, if you measure a pair of electrons out of the field at the same moment they will take on opposite spins because they are one and the same particle but are being measured on different sides of the same EM field, their fields are entangled. Imagine the source being at the center with the field of potential particles forced to rotate to the left. One particle has a left spin while the other has a right spin because all the potential particles in the field would contain the same information. This is why when the spin of one particle is manipulated prior to measuring all the other potential particles in the field they all will take on a different spin.
To test this hypothesis, instead of measuring a pair of particles in the field place 4 different measuring devices in a square with the source in the center. Then at the same moment measure 4 different particles from the field. I predict that each particle will have a different spin instead of taking on opposite spins. The measured particle to the left of the source will spin to the left, the one to the right of the source will spin to the right, the one to the top of the source will spin to the top and the one to the bottom of the source will spin to the bottom. In order to achieve this the particles have to measured at the same moment.
The spin of the particle is not the only attribute that can be measured. The potential information can be color, velocity, trajectory, spin, temperature and even the kinetic energy the particle produces when striking the measuring device. All this potential information is contained inside the field but only one attribute can be measured at a time because the electron is so tiny and it takes all the potential information to make the particle appear real to us in our slow mass time. Energy waves (light) travels at c thus exist outside our slow mass time. It doesn't become part of our reality until it comes to rest relative to the speed of light, IE strikes an object, reflects, refracts, is measured or observed. Let's talk about a holographic universe because that's what this all infers.
This makes more sense than the video
So the space time entangle ment concept is nothing but a misatke?
Could you please explain what you mean by "slow mass time"?
Time is the largest factor then in determining a end result/ the concept of time and particle velocity would suggest a pattern of results...base off this on could chart a list of results that could be tuned for computing a YES/NO/MAYBE factor
It is my understanding that what we observe as an "electron" is a first order observation of higher order interactions that manifest themselves as observables such as charge, velocity, and mass (gravity). The complex waveform may contain elements of second, third, fourth, etc. order functions that we can not measure until we take action in some form or manner to actually observe them. The action that we take to measure any value (momentum, energy, velocity, mass, etc.) actually causes to collapse of the waveform into a first order event.
Well done explaining this in a way lay people can understand. It seems the whole idea of spooky action at a distance hinges on acceptance of superposition, which I’m interpreting as the idea that since we don’t know something yet, all possibilities are true at once. I’d like to see a video explaining why people are convinced it’s not just one way or another and we just don’t know yet.

@@Scienceabc What i dont understand though, is how physicists and scientists have managed to 'tangle' a particle, and how have they managed to split single atom for wave experiments. that gets me the most, and how have they named Quark spins like up, down, strange, charm etc.. i mean how could they figure it out when we cannot "see" the subatomic particles

I hope someone reads this in hopes to start a conversation.
I had precognition since a little kid which had lead to search about this. Yes, I can see my own future through my own eyes in my future.
So I'm here - entanglement, superposition and quantum teleportation/leap... hm..
I've concluded the only thing that links my present self to my future self is the consciousness of my mind, so if I take this information I can say:
My mind entangles my consciousness of the present and of the future to create a superposition to transfer data which is quantum teleportation.
Yes?
Note: the only data I receive are from 2 senses. I can see and hear only. I can not read my mind, feel or smell what my future self is experiencing.
The only data I can receive visual and auditory.
Also, I can't pick what day I see in the future, it is random. It can be a situation that can happen in a month or years to come but it always happens, which has lead me to think "time" doesn't exist as a measurement on 4th dimension. Time works perfectly in day to day basis but I don't think it exists in teleportation or these leaps into the future.
Also, (i struggled with this tremendously) the future is not written, it is not predetermined, i simply happen to see a random moments in my future life. It is like Forwarding my video to look at it for a few seconds and then Rewinding the video to the original point in my life.
Anyway I wish I could understand why I can do this, why it happens....
Wow I believe you .. I always thought this as well you are not alone ... I am not able to see my future self tho.. can you get any useful Information from ur future self like lottery numbers and read those to me please thanks
@@intuitivetasha113 lol... yeah I wish but it seems I'm able to see some key moments in my life. Trust me I also thought about lottery numbers. I guess it won't happen to me.
I suggest reading "The first fifteen lives of Harry August."
What you may be "seeing and hearing" may actually be one of many possible future states of existence of your reality. In many religions of the world, the thinking is that each and every action of everything has an effect upon the path of what we perceive as "reality", or the NOW that we observe first order. Possibly where the concept of "karma" came about. It is anybody's guess just how much any one thing or action will cause our reality to deviate from what is the status quo or what we perceive as the norm.
I think if you substitute the word synchronized for entanglement and the word possibility for superposition, it is much easier to understand.
maybe the electron is not spinning but rather observing it imparts a spin. the entangled particle is automatically spinning opposite simply because you didnt observe it.
since they are always opposite. this means the information did not travel faster than light but rather was already in superposition and determined by observation alone.
This might explain how myself and a friend often have dreams and simultaneous thoughts regarding each other that align with real events in each other's lives, despite now living on opposite sides of the world. This has happened a number of times at precise and profound moments that can simply not be explained rationally. One example for instance, dreaming about her injuring a specific part of her body, only to find out the next day that she had in fact injured that specific part of her body around the time of my dream. This is just one example but it has happened in a number of different ways with profound accuracy and timing.
What an incredible video! Thank you for the amazing content!! 👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
I like the way you explain. Keep up the good job👍👍
I have an embarrassingly simple question. It is stated that once a particle is entangled, if we measure one of them to have spin up we know with absolute certainty the other has spin down, then why is it surprising to get that same result when they are separated by a great distance?
There is no need for information to travel btw them faster than light because no matter what state we measure the particle on earth to be, the one in the andromeda galaxy will always be the opposite. Said a different way, although it’s completely random before we take the measurement to know the state is spin up or down, there is no randomness at all btw the entangled pair.
Yes, that was called the Hidden Variables explanation which Einstein came up with. Congratulations! It was disproved as a possibility by John Stewart Bell in 1964.
I actually have been wondering the same thing. If one is spin up. then the other must be spin down? No matter how far the distance. I feel like i am missing something here
@@robertbrandywine Bell's experiment and all improvements since Bell only disprove local hidden variables, it does not disprove non-local hidden variables, NLHV. Also, Einstein did not dispute QM he believed the theory was incomplete as it does
not explain all the relationships, or does not identify the underlying mechanisms in physical terms.
QM has many unexplained properties, that particles are 0-dimensional points, yet have properties such as spin, charge, and mass, described only as mathematically but not physically. So there is the scaling problem, how to go from 0D point with no physical properties (realism) to scale up to larger physical macroscopic levels.
Check out the Cordus pre-theory it's very interesting and I will be following it closely.
@@g12196 Thanks.
The surprising bit is that , before you measured one of them to have spin up, the other did not have spin down. But once you measure one to have spin up, the other instantaneously has spin down

In Quantum Mechanics a particle is described by a wave, when a wave meets another wave they merge, and so you have two waves/particles entangled.
finally an explanation easy enough for me to understand
great video thanks for making it! also I want to ask something and it would be great if anybody could clarify. so when entangled particles are in superposition i.e. - their spins are not determined, do they actually get determined when we observe or are they determined but we just don't know what they are before observation and because of that we call it undetermined, like in first example hamburger and hotdog are in fact in their own boxes and do not change positions (we would get the same result no matter the time of observation), its just we gain information, meaning that what is determined is not their actual physical position, but information about their position, so do I get it correctly? or its just examples simplicity and in quantum world spin actually is affected by our observation (and we would get different results at different times).
This also my question, did you get the answer?
i think it's the 2nd case because physics stops making sense at small scale
They are undetermined until one is observed, then both are determined.
@@nmarbletoe8210 my question arising from this is… if after their spin is determined. If A and B are seperated and A intersects with C (a new particle). Can A and C interact with each other, affecting their spin and therefore affecting B at a distant since A is connected to B?
Therefore C could (indirectly at a distance) interact with B through A?
@@chantalgosselin13 No, the entanglement is destroyed after measurement. So if you measure A and it has spin up and therefor you know B has spin down, these are then definite properties. If A and C interact it is a new isolated system, and B is un effected, as far as I know.
Very well done. Although my favorite saying about quantum mechanics is "if you think you understand quantum mechanics, you don't understand quantum mechanics".
-Richard Feynman
If you could manipulate the spin of a number of entangled electrons could that be used to transfer information over any distance instantaneously?
Up up down up is "A" up down up up is "B" etc
So to send a message to a device which has the counterpart electrons you would manipulate the state of your set, the other set would instantly adapt and thus transfer the message
Thank you for this video! Im trying to grasp this, but up untill your video I get lost! Ive subscribed. Need to rewatch. I love QM- as far as I understand it.

Once electrons are entangled, can they be unentagled? In other words, if they are separated as you suggest and one is put in a lab on earth and another is in a lab on mars, is there a way they could become not entangled any longer so you don't be able to tell whether the motion is up or down?
And, do all electrons become entangled, or can some stay in it's "singular" state?
As soon as you measure the spin of particle A it is no longer entangled with particle B
@@nmarbletoe8210 does the spin of an atom stay the same after each observation or is it random?
@@Cryptotone it gets randomized
@@Cryptotone it's actually very interesting in detail.
the spin does become randomized but the new value is entangled with the spin of the particle used to measure it
if i understand it correctly, entanglmement never goes away, it is just traded from one particle to another
Wouldnt the wave function of the entangled electrons collapse from trying to separate them?
I.e. how would you actually "put" that electron into another location?
gently
Love the drooping of Night Crawler's tail at 9:11 , haha.
6:11 maybe not exactly that info traveled >c, but the two particles shared one bit of information about spin. once that bit is known, both spins are known
Got a question... would there be an amount of time for an entangled particle to disentangle?? Is there that level of precision to distinguish the time difference between two entangled light particles at relatively earth scale to maybe test to see if entanglement is a field of it's own like magnetism or something?? I mean I've heard the saying if you make one choice you sacrifice another so in a sense each of our choices are entangled together in a fabric of fate being woven moment by moment dissolving into each other depending on how you observe so what's worth it to blur into motion
Depends
Time dilation (due to gravitational gradients) suffice to progressively decohere any time-varying element of a characteristic. In terms of magnetic moment, one has to take into consideration Larmor Precession, which would not maintain exact phase-locked synchrony around an ergodic mean spin axis. Indeed, fMRI machines rely on the reckoning of Larmor Precession (which is amped by the use of very strong environmental magnetic fields).
Are two entangled objects always oppposite? For example, if an electron has an up spin then the other entangled atom will have downward spin, is it true for all cases?
That's exactly what quantum entanglement says.
But I think this is only at the electron level not the atomic level? Though an electron is part of an atom. But now I’d like to know if an atom has multiple electrons, are ALL of those electrons entangled with the other atom’s electrons or is it just 1 to 1? Also are electrons orbiting the same atom entangled with each other?
I love it , I only wish I can be around longer (like 1 more billion years) to see where we go with this knowledge.
Im new to this kind of stuff but, in the example :
05:55 (I don't know if this is possible to happen or not)
Is there possible that one electron on earth has a pair far apart (somewhere in the galaxy/existence itself)?
Scientists: nothing is more faster than speed of light
Also scientists: quantum entanglement information speed is more faster than the speed of light
Yeah, unfortunately this happens a lot when the science community tries to distil complex topics into something more consumable. Your statement about nothing can travel faster than the speed of light is completely correct and that is true of information too. The entangled particles are actually just one energy wave. When measured the 'two particles' referred to collapse to their respective states and would do so consistently with same given environmental conditions. In other words those states are to an extent predetermined and adhere the all the universal 'conservation of x' laws (energy, angular momentum, etc)
No, you're wrong. Quantum entanglement does not transfer any information.

so it's two electrons that are connected to each other because they existed simultaneously at two different locations and the only reason they both are entangled is that both are essentially one at a superposition making the one go up for example on earth and the one going down in andromeda?
Two questions. Ive pondered them for weeks and give up.
1) superposition is existing in every position at once.
Entangled particles exist in the opposite state.
How can they be every position at once AND opposite of each other?
2) how do particles become entangled? How do we know where the other particle is in order to measure it? It may be next to it. It may be across the universe. How do we know?
I think it was Richard Feynman who said, "If you understand Quantum Mechanics, you haven't been paying attention."

Please , give me more (cause I have an addiction of quantum theory and physics)
I said the same thing at the end, in the middle of this nice little infomation session!
In the segment on the synchronized atomic clocks scattered around the world, that's approximately true if all the clocks were at mean sea level. But an atomic clock in Denver - a mile above mean sea level - will be ticking ever so slightly faster than the ones at mean sea level. Where the animation shows the pendulums are swinging in perfect synchrony, the one in Denver will have already reached its leftmost maximum and started swinging back down again as the ones at sea level are just reaching their leftmost maximum.
Now apply this slight desynchronization to magnetic spin axis, where we admit of a Larmor Precession around the ergodic mean direction of the quantum magnetic spin axis. While the direction of the ergodic mean is fixed and unchanging, the phase of the Larmor Precession is time varying, and the presence of any gravitational gradients suffice to desynchronize the phase. This detail is what throws a monkey wrench into the derivation of Bell's Theorem. The derived inequality applies to the fixed term, but not to any time-varying perturbations around the ergodic mean.
That's a nice way to put it.. But mostly, comicbooks already did this but not elaborately..
Excellent👍
The super position is misunderstood. For example, 100 cm. Consider a circle of diameter. Let there be a piece rotating from top to bottom at the top of the circle. Let that piece be placed on the next row of the circle in the same direction of rotation as a copy of itself. When all the pieces complete the circle
the top and bottom have opposite rotation directions relative to each other. There is only a question of perspective here. If you consider the bottom - top or right - left parts, a are opposite to each other. Am in themselves is all upward.

Electron because it's so small is perceived as it is in a superposition state which in fact might be a high-frequency spin that could be detected as such in an electron if it would be amplified as a tennis ball for example, if somehow an electron could be amplified in size with a microscope or some other technics superposition should become readable as a high-frequency spin and used for the computational purpose, superposition might be an illusion induced by the fact that things at a very small scale are hard to be observed in they true state without a powerfull slow motion camera

This is so well explained
I don't get it. Let's say we have 2 entangled particles which we don't know the spins of either of them.
We measure the spin of particle A. And now we know the spin of Particle B.
But are they still entangled? Can we now affect the spin of particle B by changing the spin of Particle A? Or can we force the measured spin to be one we want?
If not this is useless and I dont see how we can use this property if we can't manipulate the spins.
Yes
You can't
I dont think it works like that.
Entangled particles may be used in the future to accelerate objects to the speed of light by using the gravitational fields of opposing stars and with entangled particles in the mass of the object to steer it - to sling-shot off of theses gravitational fields. Entangled particles are understood to not be bound by laws of relativity. Could be used as a remote control for relativistic objects. This is far-out application but there are so many possibilities with the discovery of this phenomenon
I don't think gravity can be transferred with entangled particles.
Nice explanation. Few questions though- 1. When electrons are separated at Earth and one of them is sent to let's say Andromeda galaxy, we can measure the spin of electron in Andromeda galaxy with the help of electron at Earth. But my question is- When electron travels that far then it must have interacted with magnetic field of other bodies it came across in its path. Then this magnetic field should affect electron's spin. Value of M(s) for Andromeda electron should change. Then how can we predict its spin with help of Earth electron, if its M(s) has changed?
2. What if the Andromeda electron becomes part of other atoms/matter (like usually happens in electricity etc ). It will start vibrating according to the electrons of new matter. Will we be able to predict its properties of spin, vibration etc. with Earth electron then?
Just to make sure I understand… Presumably an electron can be isolated for some period and its spin state repeatedly measured. Typically its spin would be up 50% of the measurements and down the remainder. Then the only other alternative would be that its spin would be always up or always down, in which case it would be entangled with some other electron. True or false, and if false, why? If true, and if random electrons have been measured repeatly for spin, have any been found to be entangled when no special procedures were invoked to cause them to be, and what percentage of electrons were only up or down?
Is there a video that explain WHAT entanglement consists of and HOW it happens and/or is made?
excelente, muchas gracias

Will we use entaglement to explore galaxies without being there fisically?

It's possible that the quantum particles are entangled due to the originating of the beginning spin of said particles. As when something is born into existence, it's spin is already noted, thus, entanglement with any and all twin particles.
