1:54 looks amazing and 1:57-1:58, notice how the background blood splatters become more obvious and bold as mebh fights with robyn’s father, cool details.
It takes inspiration from those old 60s-80s Disney films that used Xerox printers to color in animation frames instead of hand-painting them, which meant a lot of the pencil sketch lines stayed in the final product. Except here, it's an intentional technique instead of evidence of cost-cutting measures.
Before, I thought that the father was secretly also a wolfwalker, but now I see that he got bitten too. I liked my theory better to be honest, It would have given his character more depth.
I honestly prefer this story. Because once he was turned into one, he didn't deny it or try to fight it off. His goal overall was to keep his daughter safe, to be able to keep an eye on her no matter what the setting is. Oh his daughter is a wolf walker? He doesn't care, he just wants her to be safe. Oh he's a wolf walker too? He doesn't care, as long as he knows his daughter will be safe.
@LaylaSonicoh my gosh this scene intrigues me SO much :DDD allow me to ramble!!! So basically, in this scene we see Moll’s usually calm and dormant behavior (for self preservation) completely shatter when her daughter is in immediate danger. Now artistically, when we look at the scenes before she attacked Robyn’s dad, the background is based on reality, with the town walls and the tapestry. Then in the moment that Mehb is in danger, she completely breaks her composure and lashes out in order to protect her. We see the background change to one that is not based in reality and instead is a depiction of her raw anger and furiosity. Usually the art style in this movie is very straight lined and clean (even with rougher edges in some scenes) but we don’t get many scenes with paint splashes or paint effects. Since this scene was so intense and important, the artists working on this movie decided to use that unique style so that it feels jarring and overwhelming. The colors used are also very bright but then get splattered with a dirty looking red-brown color, similar to the color of blood. I think they used that color specifically to emphasize the way Moll felt in that moment, like the pretty bright colors in the background were the embodiment of Lord Protector’s seemingly perfect demonstration and she was about to ruin it all with her violence and insolence. Which is exactly what she did! She completely ruined his plans to show how powerful he was, similar to how the bold splatters of red-brown ruined the harmony of the bright colored background. It can also be stated that it’s supposed to represent the raw anger and blood Moll wanted to spill when she saw her daughter in danger, especially since it’s a more metaphorical way to depict it since we don’t actually see the blood spill out when she bites him. Anyways!! Hope this helps!!! I love this film so so dearly
@@amarylily that sounds neat! I feel like it could also symbolize/emphasize a cycle of violence, how Robyn’s dad catching and about to shackle Mehb (I have no clue how to spell their names) could feel like and actually represent a violent act, especially with what might be done to Mehb afterwards when they find out what she is. Whether it was just in Moll’s eyes or a part of a bigger message, it was as if blood was actually being spilled in that moment, even though Robyn’s dad isn’t really evil, just following orders. His actions are still impactful, and harmful, even when he’s only doing what he’s been told out of fear. Blind servitude to someone who makes you feel trapped/literally traps you just to be safe leads to more pain and misery, one of the messages of the movie.
because it's a more European name; specifically German (from what I looked up, it can be different). if you're gonna be insulting, at least learn to spell right

I didn’t notice that but wow 😮
Whoever did her sound design as a wolf did so good, her growls and snarls are so satisfying!
Highly highly agreed!!!
I love that there was no music when the mother was shot and Mebh was crying. It highlights the emotion
Moll's wolf form looks gorgeous!
She looks like a bear. Really love it.
Late to this, but i honestly love how you can see the sketch lines.
Notice how it's only on the wolves and wolfwalkers, and not the people
