- In the latest episode of Talking Bull, the Official Oracle Red Bull Racing podcast, brought to you by HP Poly, Nicola Hume is joined by none other than Daniel Ricciardo. Now driving for Scuderia AlphaTauri in the F1 2023 season, Ricciardo is also joined by his long-time race engineer and now Group Leader of Simulation Engineering, Simon Rennie. In the episode the pair reflect on one of Daniel's iconic wins, the 2018 Monaco Grand Prix; how Daniel's confidence was knocked after losing his seat in F1 and his thoughts on Max Verstappen.

What is your favourite Daniel F1 moment? 🍯🦡
When he was on the verge of not even getting a run in Q3 at 2018 Chinese GP and getting knocked out of qualifying due to engine issue, and then made some killer overtakes to win the damn race.

Red Bull Racing has had some pretty impressive drivers as well as race engineers in Rocky, Rennie, and GP. This relationship between driver and race engineer is pretty underrated.
Perhaps my favourite interchange between this duo is from 2017 Italian GP when Simon radios Daniel on the next car “Ok nice job mate next up ahead is Massa, he’s alone” and Daniel radios back “I like ‘em vulnerable”.

20:10 ive always said daniel has a stake in who max is as a person… i can honestly say he has a stake in who i am as well.. daniel moved mountains he might not see it but he has… red bull wouldnt have been as ready for the championship had it not been for daniel carrying the torch before max i promise you.. daniel is worth more than gold

1. Thank you man. I too feel Daniel is not appreciated or fully recognized for his worth.
2. I also agree that he himself probably does not see how big of an effect he has had but he has had that.
I always think that Daniel helps Max mature, or at least help heal Max childhood trauma, some people just have that affect on someone even though Daniel are just usually being himself.
Nicola does a fabulous job of bringing the human side out of the folks she interviews. Love her approach.

Daniel taking things a bit too literal. Hope he gets well soon. Can't wait to see him back in the car. Was great to see his (first) return live when I was at the Hungarian GP. He got such a big cheer from the crowd.
He seems so happy, glad to see him enjoying himself. Great that RB gave him he's home back even though he left.
These interviews really show how much there is behind the scenes of a race, let alone a season. There is so much mental work together with the technical part and it’s so interesting to get a glimpse of it. Thank you guys for being ready to share all of it with us!!
Simon is literally Roy Kent from Ted Lasso, brilliant match-up these 2! Great insight, as much as Danny is always an easy go to video to watch, having Simon there just made this great.

This is why I don’t understand how max has such a bad reputation. People who work with Max, and other drivers, always have nice things to say about him. Max is a straight shooter, but he is not a jerk.

Yeah .. nah. You cannot rightfully compare DR and Lawson with a couple of races. Daniel has had a career in F1 already whereas Liam has barely had a start. More time needed to make any kind of judgement, but they have a decade of data on Danny vs a blank sheet for Liam. Will be interesting to see how Danny returns from injury.
Liam IS great and so is DR. I support them both. I want them both in a seat. AT needs an experienced driver with the new developments next season. My 4 drivers for RB would be Max, DR, Yuki and Liam 💪

You could say he already had the chance and left on his own, but they had a kind of magic together that I miss with Max and Checo.
