    Everyone collects their milsurps for different reasons, that said, those rifles would not be winners, unless I was after a wall hanger for my attic. Those rifles show abuse, and neglect more than wartime use. There are better ways to find rifles, but for those that need it now, RTI fills that need, but with something that has very weak collector value. I would have put my money toward one rifle in nice shape, instead of 2 like that.

    You got lucky with that enfield, it seems like most people get burned by those B grades. Also it’s nice of RTI to include somebody’s high school wood shop project with your M95.

      My B grade was trash that I got about a year ago from them. I wrote a synopsis of it on /r/gundealsfu a while back. Rti replaced it and sent me another one which was about equally as bad as the first one so I just footed the loss.

      @@richardfisher4045 my b grade no 4 mk1 savage had a sewer pipe bore, 0 bluing left, no visible serial number, pitting everywhere under the wood, and both upper/lower handguards had severe cracks in them as well as the stock wood. Sent it back and I got another savage as a replacement that had a damaged bolt track (common on the savages). Gave up after that lol.

      You better take that No1 Mk3 to a gunsmith that knows what he is doing. When you get it there tell them you want it bore scoped and gaged to make sure it in tolerances. If I were you I would “ NOT” fire it until either Brian Dick of South Carolina or Bruce Dow of Florida scoped & gaged it. Then blessed off on it. I buy a No4 Mk1 Canadian long branch from classic firearms, which is a subsidiary of RTI. I paid $450 for it and then it up putting another $800 in it and Gunsmith and fees to actually get it to functioning safe to fire rifle. So you think $200 was a good deal I don’t because in order for you to bring that thing up to a safe functioning Rifle. You will “HAVE TO SPEND “ at $800.00 to $1000.00 in gunsmithing restoration fees. Good luck and let us all know how it works out for you.

    I’ve learned that whatever I buy from them I end up spending double on replacing parts and repairs but I honestly don’t mind since I have a passion for fixing old stuff and I’m just happy having a piece of history. I have a Steyr M95 Carbine that I found in my friend’s grandfather’s basement. It was used my their family in WW1 and the stock was rotted, it’s stamped W-n 99 Steyr. Looks like it was used to dig the trenches. I have it now and I was amazed that the rifle has almost no rust but the stock needed changed. Reloading for them is not fun 😅 7.62x54r fire formed and then you have to trim the shell down to get it to run. 8x50r is not something that can be bought but there is a shop that makes it but it comes with a warning saying shoot at your own risk

      @@acester86 I got an m48 from them about a month ago, it was in pretty decent shape, but the bore was garbage. It did have rifling for the whole length of the barrel, but it was pitted out so bad that the pitting would grab onto parts of the copper jacket from the projectile, causing a bore obstruction. Original factory barrels are available, just know that you may have to pay 200-350$ extra to be able to get it up and running again. Good luck!

    If you didn't already know, you can make 8x50R Austrian ammo using cut down and resized 7.62.x54R (Russian) cases. The body will be a little smaller in diameter than the real thing, but it will function safely in the rifle and will load properly from the en bloc clip. The hard part is finding 8x50R Austrian dies, but once you have those you should have all the other needed equipment among your normal reloading gear.

    • @brettanderson6743
      @brettanderson6743 Рік тому

      8X56R Austrian can also be resized down. Privi still makes it and you can find it online. RCBS does make dies but I don't know when they will make the next batch. The Ammo will probably cost more than the rifle in the long run! Picking up my M95 on Monday. Fingers crossed it's a good one.

    I've bought two rifles from RTI and will never buy anything from them again. The Carcano I bought had a crushed magazine housing - and when I complained I received no response. The second, a Steyer M95 has a missing slide on the rear sight, and screws so worn on the butt plate that the slot is gone, the sling swivel is badly crushed. The receiver has some type of crude Ethiopian markings which defaces the Steyer roll mark. It arrived absolutely filthy, which was not unexpected. The handguard appears to be from some type of local basswood and the bolt screws are seized. Overall a person is simply better off buying a higher priced rifle that can be examined in person. It will cost me almost 30.00 to replace the rear site alone, since none of the usual vendors appear to have it available.

    The Enfield looked well worth it. My recent purchase from them was a bit of a disappointment. I bought a "VG-E carcano calvery carbine" it was G at best. I'd probably put it closer to fair. Silver lining it was a lever release on the bayo so at least it's something a little different than the one I already had. I might get a slide tab from JG Sales to have an example of all 3 bayonet release types. Can't say I was terribly disappointed as it cost less shipped & transfered than anyone else has listed.

    That seems like a replacement stock on that Lee-Enfield. The stock clearly exhibits featured on Ishapore stock components and it is of the 8th variant by the looks of that reinforcing band in the rear, something that is definitely not seen on Enfield rifles in 1916. Still that shows me that you can, indeed use an 8th variation stock on an older SMLE. Got some project .410s from Century here in the shop that need new stocks and seeing that these 8th variation stocks will fit, I can get those cheap off of DP rifles. Still its a great buy. I would love to have that as a range shooter.

    The No.1 MkIII* I received is totally unsafe. Someone in Ethiopia brazed a metal shim onto the long locking lug, probably in an attempt to correct a headspace issue or to repair damage to the lug's mating surface. Either way, this is a totally unsafe modification. There's also a possible crack in the bolt body. I contacted RTI about the issue, and they've been ghosting me.

Of course, you must have the Mannlicher clips if you want more than a single shot. The poor inletting on these, coupled with the wood drying out, can make for a very loose action. If you want to shoot these, I strongly recommend Accraglassing. My dollars worth-John in Texas

    RTI whittled a handguard so they could sell an incomplete rifle as a complete one...hope the bore can be salvaged, should still be a fun shooter if it will stabilize a bullet.
    Make sure to check the draws on that No1 Mk3. If the action isn't fitting tight and if the draws are worn, it'll break that whole chunk of stock off that sits between the bolt handle and charger bridge. That's what happened to mine, and it's a huge pain to fix unless you're real good with woodwork since you'll have to cut chunks out and make new draws. I ended up putting a drill rifle stock on mine but it doesn't fit right and I'm afraid to shoot it and break it just like the old one.

      Turkish 8mm is shit. $30 may seem like a deal but a lot of that ammo is very bad. Bad as in dangerous and can and will break your guns. Ian from Forgotten Weapons has a breakdown of it and he actually hairline fractured his Mauser stock while testing it with Turkish 8mm, and there are other reliable sources of it breaking other guns, including machine guns.
      It sucks, because finding anything affordable or a "deal" is pretty nonexistant now, but always try and do research before buying surplus for price vs quality. Greek surplus is top notch, Turkish, not so much sadly since it's still affordable and available :/

    Very nice gamble. I was tempted to get both of those as well . I ended up getting a Vetterli Carbine instead . At first inspection it’s decent looking, I haven’t cleaned it up yet I just got it last night. I wanted a M95 carbine too but didn’t get one. Hopefully they will have another sale on the future. I think when they have these class cells, it makes it worth the price with the condition.

    If I remember correctly Buffalo Arms makes the 8x50 ammo ( when they have it in stock ) . I don’t have the M95 in the original caliber , I have 4 in the 8x56 , looking forward to the next video when you have them cleaned up

      @WastelandArmorer Рік тому

      It’s 8x50r Siamese. In theory it should work if it’s the same dimensions as original ammo because the Siamese ammo was meant to be backwards compatible with siams 1888 mannlicher, but I haven’t been able to try it yet.

    Missing the forward stacking swivel on your Lee Enfield. It shows a sold out of service. stamp on the breech too, The screw through the stock indicates possible Indian use as they seem to think it reinforces it. I have never seen a problem with the stocks with no screw. The cocking piece is a later version, yours should be rounded but the part interchanges so either is purely cosmetic. Some elbow grease and cold blue and it will look good again but on the other side of the coin, destroys the history behind the rifle. Probably 0 chance the bolt matches the receiver.
    That is a Pattern 1907 bayonet which fits your rifle.

    I'm curious to see how your No1 preforms. The one I got from them couldnt fire due to a broken sear that I needed to replace, and it keyholed due to a poor bore.
