I met Aaron a few times in the 80's mostly once in passing at the airport in the late 90's, and have to say he is the nicest person you are likely to meet. His son got shot once, and it turned out he and his cousin/friend lied about how it happened. He had just bought the son a bicycle from the shop I worked at, and we had it for a check-up (free 30-60-90-120 day) and he called and asked if we'd hold it and how much storage (nothing, all the Nevilles that came in were good customers) and not long after, the real story came out. Initially they claimed it was a guy in a brown Chevy Caprice, turned out the cousin/friend (forget if they were related) had swiped the gun and they managed to accidentally shoot it, hitting Aaron's son in the back. The gun got tossed in the sewer, and a day or so later Aaron called again and asked about fees because it was going to be a while before sonny was getting his beloved bicycle back. 6 or 7 months later, he brought the kid in to get the bike. Made him apologize, loudly, to everyone in the store for lying, and then had him go back to the work area and apologize to the workers back there, and thank us for keeping his bike. Also, Aaron got gypped out of most of the money from "Tell It Like It Is" and when the record went Gold, the shysters at the label kept it, so his brothers and friends bought an album , spray painted it gold, and gave that to him. When Linda had her hit with it, she gave Aaron hers. One of the few things I miss about New Orleans is the music.
