    If you have some old camera film containers, they are very useful to carry any small objects such as medicines etc. A bonus is they are waterproof. Some of my old colleagues used them to carry a dram of whisky !!!

      Hi Mark, I would recommend the little yellow containers you'll find inside a Kinder Egg (where you'll find the tiny toy). That is perfect for pills, spices, and small accessories, and it is made of food safe plastic.

    Finished the trail yesterday, 5 days in heat, 29 degs yesterday. Very tough in places walking in that heat. I did the entire walk by parking my car at the destination for the day and then taking public transport back to the beginning of that leg. That way I could drive to a cheap hotel (£12.50 a night!) and have a shower and bed, and dont forget the 'Eat out to help out' in August, mon-wed. Great walk but dont underestimate it, it's no 'walk in the park' and take plenty of water...plenty.

    firstly, what was the weight of the packed equipment?
    pink lady apples, sweet crisp and juicy and a porridge tip! the cheapest pack of oatmeal add powdered milk and sugar whizz up in a food-processor until you have a powder, just add water to use, cooks and absorbs the water really quickly.

    Love all your videos, Abbie! I did a solo trip to the Cotswolds a few years ago and stayed in a cottage on a hilly lane. So picturesque there. Mostly an elderly population where I was, but they hiked those hills like goats. So inspiring. And my favorite apples in the USA? Honeycrisp!

    Hi Abbie, I was going to do this path last year but it got put back so am going to walk it in September 2020. Can you post the campsites you are using, also, do not underestimate the trail, there are many hills to climb. Glad to see that you are carrying a decent amount of water, others have come unstuck by thinking that they there are lots of places to top up. The trail is a lot more hilly than people think. Good luck on your hike, I'm sure that you will have a great time. I will be starting at Bath and finishing at Chipping Campden.

    Abbie, so good you are doing more national trails. I remember in an earlier video you mentioned that you planned to do them all, and I'm looking forward to your journeys on them. I did the Cotswold Way in 2014, so I will reminisce when you post it. Still looking forward to the video of your Cleveland Way walk that you did last year, as that is also one of the five national trails I have done so far.

      The Cleveland way is the one i have been waiting for for about a year.. she did say she is having some issues with her footage from that walk...
      I suggested she might need to do it again hahahahaha
      I am hoping to come to UK from NZ to do the Cleveland way.. (was supposed to be this year but everything stopped)

    Banana loaf for the win! (If they ever do get in touch with you tell them to make it more available in Australia! lol) Thanks for posting this one, it's great to see the little tweaks to your kit since your last video and compare it to my recent trip kit. Definitely agree with the tent on the bottom, I'm doing this now too and I was certainly the only one on the trail this weekend who could just plonk my pack anywhere and not worry about it falling over :)

    I wild camped the whole Cotswold Way- not easy- it's a very populated area throughout the whole trail - probably wise to book camp sites- wondering how many extra miles are necessary to make it to campsites? Really looking forward to these Cotswold Way vlogs! It's a truly wonderful part of the world..

    I was just wondering if you actually went and walked the Cotswold Way. Thinking about doing it this August and I'd love to watch your video but I can't seem to find it. My guess is that lockdown prevented you from being able to walk it. I'm literally addicted to your channel. You are such a huge inspiration to me. 💙

    How did I miss this video 😮 Great packing video Abbie. I've watched this Hike vid 3x now lol, love it. Love the area.
    My favorite Apple is the Pink Lady. White flesh very crisp and juicy. I always have 1 banana and 2 apples on my day hikes.
    I'm considering taking for harder hikes Waffles lol. YOU started me on that. I Love them. Great energy boost. Cheers & Stay wild !

    Have fun on your adventure Abbie. Always enjoy a good kit video 😊 I’ve been using the Paramo Ostro windproof/fleece combo lately and although not used in anger has been performing well. Just the windproof alone is pretty waterproof and breathability very good. Cheers, Paul.

    Hi Abbie! Thank you for another lovely video. I was wondering if you have a video on your first aid kit? In one of your videos (maybe many haha), it really resonated with me when you said you pack first aid for yourself, but also to help others who may need help on the trail. I also want to be a conscious hiker who contributes to the well-being of all who practice outdoor activities, and was wondering what your kit looked like. Cheers from Canada! :)

    Hi Abbie
    As always love watching your videos, truly inspirational. Quick question what was your base weight (not including your camera gear lol) Was planing on doing this trail this year & would of been doing it next week, however due to Covid-19 plans have changed. To be fair I think it was a tad ambitious of me doing this for my 1st thur-hike lol. So instead I’m going to hike the Sandstone trail on the the 26th planning to do it in 2 days, then work my way up to the bigger trails. Anyways good luck on ya travels, hope your injury’s aren’t to much of a burden & happy trails.

  • @pngit1

    I really think you'd benefit from reducing your pack weight, particularly with your various knee and back injuries. I've got mine down to 6kg base weight for summer walking, that's with the same tent as you have there, plus a full sized sleeping mat. I feel so much better for the weight reduction.

    • @dfredriksz
      @dfredriksz 4 роки тому

      Interested in the weight for a several days trip, how much weight then??? Incl. 2 ltr water thx. In advance

    • @roop366
      @roop366 4 роки тому

      @@dfredriksz It really depends on distance between supply stops, conditions and your personal requirments. I'm a big guy who needs a lot of fuel and water, plus I'm walking in Australia whre it can get hot. I base my food and weight on: 1 kg food and 2 litres (2kg) water per day. I'm happy with a base load of 8.5kg, which includes a few "luxuries": kindle and music player. I have found that since I got a new pack (Exos 38, same as Abbie's) I can comfortably carry up to 12kg, no problem (packs limit is 13kg), whereas I would have struggled with this weight with my old pack. I strongly suggest that like Abbie, you ignore the interwebs obsession with "pack weight", it's about your requirements and comfort. HTH
