Hello Sketching Scottie. I'm looking for this course. A question, could I get this course in Spanish? Thanks
@@andrearossi3808 Hi Andrea, the course has Spanish subtitles but audio is English
The loose urban sketches are great. Trick is not to complicate it with detail, yet show interesting highlights. And I think you have it, Scottie.
Rather than markers, I use an inexpensive set of pan watercolors (my artist grade watercolors are too intense for this), and I apply with a water brush. The water brush allows me to apply a thin layer of color without putting too much water on the page.
great idea Stephanie👍🏼
I've followed Albert for years. I purchased his course the second I saw that he released it. He is indeed a great artist/sketcher. I love it how a good artist (you) can watch a tutorial once or twice and improve immediately. just goes to show that learning 1 type of art will definitely help with other types. Love the way your sketch turned out. :)
that’s good to hear you’re a big fan too! How did you go with the course? Have you had time to complete the final project?
Thanks so much for the positive feedback too 😊. Yes it’s interesting how different types of art can support each other. I’ve even been trying my old black pencils today and can see how using ink pens for a while can change the way I sketch with pencils!
@@SketchingScottie I have not done his final project. I've been urban sketching for about 3 years. So i've developed my own style. I do incorporate some of alberts sketching techniques into my sketches. but I do try to make it my own. I mostly watch his course for the marker coloring techniques. markers have a very unique look compared to watercolor. So thats what I am mostly trying to incorporate into my sketches right now. I love to sketch in pencil but I also love to sketch with ink. and the same happens to me.. when I go back to the other.. I notice that things look different in a good way. 1 helps the other.. and vise versa. :)
that’s great you’ve developed your own style and evolving it with other techniques. I really loved his marker techniques too as I’ve never even happy using them up until I tried his technique. All the best!👍🏼
I did this Albert Kiefer course in 2022 and with great pleasure! Because of this I started doing more with markers myself; not as much as with watercolor, but it's nice to have a few different techniques side by side.😊
I'm glad you enjoyed this course Siny! Yes I find it's great to have other techniques to use occasionally it keep things fresh 👍🏼
Just signed up for my first Domestic course thanks to you. Loved this video and your style. Thanks so much.
This is beautiful. I absolutely love this kind of sketching style.
Took his course a few months ago. He's truly one of very my favorites, greatly inspires me and taught me so much! I love your work as well, by the way! Will continue to watch and learn from you.
Got the course a little while ago, would highly recommend it, love the style of his sketching, also just started to follow you and your work, really good as well, thanks
I love how yours came out. That's the kind of style I am wishing I can do.
I love this loose style. It's beautiful to see and you keep discovering things in it
I took the course and totally enjoyed it. I leaned to not be so tight...loosen up...build the character of each house or business/building. Truly a much more fun way to draw.
That's great Mike! Glad you liked it too 👍🏼
Thanks for the review. Domestika has so many courses, it really helped me narrow down what class to take next. Love your content!
Love how you put your own creative liberty into the scene. And I love the loose techniques. I want to try this.
Thanks a lot! Definitely was a great technique to try👍🏼
Thank you so much for this video.
I love this kind of art style. You really motivated me to draw today
that’s awesome to hear Jeremy! All the best with your drawing 👍🏼
I loved your sketch is very nice and I do like market, because is easier to take with you to sketch outside.
Love this style and the way you used the markers! I've just started Kiefer's Domestika course, and have been looking for more examples of marker use, and stumbled on your review. Thanks very much for this.
that’s great to hear! 😊 yea he has a great way of using markers. Very eye opening!
I did one of Albert's houses and loved it (although I wasn't entire sure WHY I was doing some things!) I loved what I did and had forgotten about it until I watched you - I am learning from your tutorials. So I will go back and try again. Thanks for reviewing his work. He is amazing. And he is very encouraging. I love styles that never have mistakes and you are just free to keep going. It is endless fun. Thanks.
Great work !!…congratulations and thanks for the clues !
I have taken 3 domestika courses thanks to your videos!! Please keep doing them! I absolutely 💯 love them. ♡♡♡ THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Marie Silver is brilliant with this style. I couldn't replicate it as quickly as you've just done. Congrats.
Thank you for this name...found her on instagram.
That's amazing! Just bought this course, and I'm so excited to draw something like this.
I wish the course had more videos with a few more examples like bridges
Your sketch is great. I purchased the course, have finished the basic parts and I'm feeling slightly intimidated for the next lesson. However, watching you draw and seeing your results have inspired me. I really enjoyed your video, thank you!
thanks a lot! Great to hear you’ve started the course. I hope the next steps of the final project work out really well for you 🤗👍🏼
Scottie seems to simplify the process by showing how vs TELLING well done Scottie!!
I love this stuff! Great job!
Because of this review, I purchased this course.
I learned so much and started my own sketching channel using a lot of Albert inspired techniques!!
Thanks for making this video, Scottie!!!
Nice work!
Thank you for sharing your progress and experience. I do love this style and I initially though it was achieved by using watercolors instead of markers. Very cool!
yes it does look like watercolors! I think the Moleskine paper helps give markers that look too
I love this style of sketching and how you coloured it.
So inspiring. I instantly wanna learn that too after seeing your video ❤️🔥
👊🏼glad it was inspiring!🤗
I love your video and will look into this course for sure! I am drawn to those type of buildings.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it Nikkie👍🏼
Your sketch turned out great, i just bought the course!
Love it. Have the course, studied architecture and rendered in marker, pencil, and acrylics. Love the loose style.
So I had to comment. Im a new artist of 7 months, and i wanted to get into urban sketching. Ive been following your channel since i started drawing. I had never heard of domestika. But the course looked super interesting. So i bought it. I just finished the course tonight. And then i re watched this video afterward. So, ive ordered some markers and a white marker and im going to draw one house a day for at least 30 days. Im looking forward to learning and developing my own style. Thanks for all you do. Im a big fan.
Thanks AJ! Great to hear stories like this so thanks for sharing. All the best with your 30 day challenge. That’s a great idea!
This is amazing 😮 I love it!! ❤
I trained as a drafter on the board back in 1980, I’m looking forward to loosening up my sketches & getting “outside the lines”!
I love the style!
Good information! I love the sketch!
Just purchased this course!! Very excited. Thank you for your video✋️🌟😊
That's awesome Nikkie🙌🏼 All the best
Love the simple and relaxed sketch/water color. Theres an East Indian artist doing the same relaxed method that I love too. Great job Scottie!
thanks a lot Steve!
I love it! Good job. I actually purchased this course a week ago, and I still need to get out and start sketching - holiday starts tomorrow, so I finally have time
Thanks Danielle! That’s great, all the best with your sketching!🙌🏼😊
FYI the course works even with watercolor, i did everything the same and it still came out brilliant!!!!
Incredible work
I really enjoyed the step-by-step process, thank you for sharing how to draw a house starting with sketches and coloring👍⭐⭐
Glad you liked it🤗
Love this loose style, it's also fun and relaxing to watch because you're not uptight thinking you can't make it perfect.
all your drawings look great! congratulations Scottie!

I took his course a year ago, amazing artist with great discipline - Cheers
Amazing course. Loved it
I love it! Honestly, I’m getting back into my drawing and sketching, and I sketch like this sometimes I didn’t know this was a technique. I am a myself taught artist, and I have been drawing, watercolor, painting, sketching, etc., anything to do with art lol for long time I am now considering taking it serious I'm in my late 40’s now lol 💕Thank you for sharing you’re awesome ✌️💕
Thank you for sharing. I consider buying this Domestic course now. It has been pretty interesting seeing your sketch.

Awesome! Thank you 😄
Thanks so much for that discount code I have been dying to take this course
My pleasure, enjoy!
Albert Kiefer is a great artist and an excellent professor at Domestika. I love his works.
I love it! Well done !
Thank you!
I like this style and have grown to like using markers. Takes a little getting used to. Took Albert’s course a while back and really enjoyed it. Fun style!
That's great to hear! Yea it does take some time to get used to!
Thanks for the code and interesting video. I bought the course and going to follow on my tablet =)
👍🏼 glad you enjoyed the review! All the best with the course😊
Great video! I subscribed immediately. Thanks!
You just sold me on the course dude! Thank you for the helpful video. I;ve started Urban Sketching recently myself and need it to be faster, looser and more expressive so I don;t get bogged down with details so this looked perfect for that. Plus it was on sale for £9.90 (BARGAIN!) then with your discount it was just over £8. You can't argue with that.
Wow yea they are amazing value aren’t they! All the best with the course 👍🏼
I absolutely adore this style, it has an ummatched level of character and its chaimos is just like real life
I love line and wash/marker.
Peter Sheeler, Nil Rocha and Ian McQue are my favorite artists.
And yes, its hard to break away from conventional drawing techniques.
Excellent demo… I’ve admired the House Sketcher’s work for a long time and I could never figure out how he acquired that transparency! Thanks for enlightening me! 🎨🙏🙏🎨
Glad to help!
Excellent video
Yes I enjoyed love that urban look
Wow very cool!! Haven’t heard of him but started following both of you
thanks Katy!!🙌🏼
Very very cool. As I live in Japan I should get off my ass and sketch these houses more!!
Haha definitely! They have so much character
Great sketch Scottie👍
thanks Elly!
I love this style - would love to try it out
👍🏼 definitely worth a go!
I’ve done this course too! I love markers!!
I love it!
I also took his domestika course, it was excellent !!
Really nice!
Amazing the difference once you applied Kiefer's advices !!!
I love it! giving buildings character on purpose, even if they have none...wonderful.
Very neat sketch!
Great video Scottie! I've been wanting to urban sketch but was worried about perspective, then I worried the markers would be streaky 🤣 No more worries! Thx for sharing.
Thanks Colleen! The Moleskine paper definitely helps with less streaking using markers👍🏼
Looks just like one of his- great job!
Your sketch looks like a watercolor line and wash .. absolutely beautiful! ❤️ I'm a bit apprehensive about markers, I don't know how to finesse the shading, but you may have inspired me to try again with lighter colors! Thank you ... Peace and Blessings 🌹❤️🌹
🙏🏼 🤗 many thanks! Yes that's what I thought when I saw Albert's work too! Actually I think part of the watercolor look comes from the Moleskine Art sketchbook as the edges of the marker lines fade into the page a bit and is held nicely by the paper (stayed wet). When I layered different colored markers on top it mixed well. I usually get that streaky marker look on my other paper which I don't like 😂. All the best!
@@SketchingScottie - well now, your paper explanation really has me looking forward to getting my markers out! Thank you so very much!
Amazing you should 100% do more videos like this😍
Thanks Hamza!🤗
excellent I just recently watched a couple of Albert works and I am going to start doing some
awesome, all the best!!🙌🏼
@@SketchingScottie thanks
I did this course and it was a lot of fun. I used what markers I had, but I would like to try lighter and darker of same colors. Nice job you did!
Thanks Susanne! Great to hear you did the course too! Glad you enjoyed it👍🏼.
I know what you mean with the markers! I just managed to find enough light coloured markers here but would love to buy a few more as it gives a nicer, almost watercolour look.
Actually - I do love your variation of the house a bit more than the original. I will try it - thanks a lot for it!
By the way - I really do love your tutorials and videos I have seen and tried so far.
Your style is clear, fresh and light.
You are a great inspiration for me and my sketching improved a lot thanks to you. All the very best Renate
That’s so good to hear Renate! thanks for the kind words 😊
This looks amazing man! I’ve just currently discovered his work and have loved that style forever . I’m wanting to attempt it myself
Go for it!
I did. Seems I need to work on my perspective fundamentals. Showing depth and angle is trickier than it looks ! Lol.
@Cosmic Nomad yes especially with Alberts style being very impressionistic. The vanishing points very exaggerated. You could try a straight, front on view of a building like this?
Fire 🔥 súper way of doing it
I'm a huge fan of any tips on how to loosen up. I love the concept of suggestion rather than precision. I have not used markers, which may tempt me to stay in the lines which I don't want to do. Will check out his course. This was a very helpful review!
Glad it was helpful!
We have the same interest if it comes to the choose a course on domestika:) I bought this one too and I love the approach of Albert. Love you're work, have to work on mine haha. Maybe this weekend... have a nice and creative weekend all
that’s great you bought this one too! He has such a unique style. Hope you got a chance to try his final project 😊
