2:24 you are wrong you have to exhaust her to count as defending. Otherwise it is counted as undefended attack and senator kelly takes damage if you control him. She is not grossly overpowered. Ffg build her as aggression for a reason. The defense event cards help her but not grossly overpowered.
@@panda5996 This used to be the case. It is no longer. With the updated rules 1.4 version on page 11 it states the changes to defend and defense. This includes using defense events. So using a defense event card would trigger the ability on the phased card.
@@D20Woodworking Oh wow. There are patches to board games now? 😂 After reading their site, they received complaints that the game was too difficult. That part is true. So they decided to update.
Good analysis. She is fun. She is among my most favorite, especially because she is so good in protection, like Ghost Spider. Unlike the other 3 xmen, it feels like her cards got the most playtesting and feels the best to play.
I absolutely love Kitty, and funnily enough I’ve only played her in Justice and I thought she totally rocked! So good to see you and I stand opposed as always! 😆😆 But that just means I’ll enjoy her even more in red and green! Great review!
Question: If I'm defending a villain activation with an event, will the Solid response immediately trigger so I can flip to Phased, negating all damage from the same villain activation and all succeeding minion activations?
I like Shadowcat the most of all the xmen in this expansion. My problem is I don’t think this expansion is half as interesting or playable as everything from Cycle 5. I keep building and testing all four and I just can’t get past the “meh” feeling. Every content producer, not just you, focuses on how few XMen we have at the moment and how that will fix some of the problems. But will it? I certainly hope so but the history with this IP isn’t promising. I worry that with each new release we’re all just whistling past the graveyard. I’m still all in as far as future expansions. I love playing this game. I’m glad the mutants have brought new players to the community but fear that it’s not sustainable. I give shadowcat an A- and the whole block of heroes together a flat B. To put it another way, it’s on par with the Guardians release but without as much of the drama that came with those encounters.
There are countless untapped themes, locations, realms, dimensions, teams, etc. that FFG have yet to even touch on, which means there's a lot of content (potentially) in future releases, with tons of opportunities to innovate and invent new gameplay mechanics. So far, they've only hit things that are mostly highlighted by the movies, which is a limited set of characters, places, etc. They could do a dark city run, with Kingpin as the big bad (Daredevil, Elektra, silver sable, bullseye, punisher, Moon Knight, luke cage and iron fist). They could go to Asgard, Atlantis, Olympus, the negative zone (w/the fantastic four), the dark dimension, alt-history WW2 w/the Invaders, the quantum realm, a supernatural themed cycle w/ghost rider, morbius, the shroud, etc. They could easily come back to the avengers or X-Men, and do the kree/Skrull war, the fall of the mutants, the heralds of Galactus, etc. And, who knows, we might see lesser know teams/heroes, like alpha flight, the defenders, the new warriors, etc. They've got like 70 years of comic books and content to draw from. It just depends on how long they can keep the Marvel license.
What are your thoughts of Shadowcat?

In the original rule book. Yes.

Definitely surprised by her, not just in terms of power level, but in fun as well. She’s just a blast to play.

We must always be opposed! Even if we agree lol
Didn’t like her at all at first but then realized it was because of her precon deck. After I made my own protection one I’ve been having a blast.
Protection ruling kinda confusion. Can i play desperate defense without exhausting the hero?
No you have to exhaust because it states when your hero defends. Which it confusing but yeah. Have to exhaust for that card
Can I ask if rules 1.5 changes this rule about her defending. Seems OP she takes zero damage without exhausting her.
Nope still the same. And as long as you are on your phased side she still takes no damage. Just getting and keeping that side up is me challenge
Question: If I'm defending a villain activation with an event, will the Solid response immediately trigger so I can flip to Phased, negating all damage from the same villain activation and all succeeding minion activations?
Just the current activation. So it’s just the villain it would work on
