This is the best LIVE version of Richard Wagner's Pilgrim's Chorus in Tannhauser. Believe me, and I've listened to countless through the years. The long notes are solid to the last moment. The base is solid here and it reverberates especially at the start, this gives the listener a hint of the coming crescendo towards the end of this most beautiful masterpiece. The sopranos/ altos equally solid especially the shrilling sound for the top notes, their voices never faltered up there. Undoubtedly the best LIVE rendition among all others here in UA-cam.
Thank you very much, I've been looking for this recording! I wonder why the DRSO removed it from their official page - one of the best Pilgerchors out there!
Through penance and repentance I have propitiated the Lord, Whom my heart serves, Who crowns my repentance with blessing, the Lord to Whom my song goes up! The salvation of pardon is granted the penitent, in days to come He will walk in the peace of the blessed! Hell and death do not appall Him, therefore will I praise God my life long. Alleluia! Alleluia in eternity!
Jewel of wagnerian romanticism, Opera No. 5: Tannhäuser in E major, WWV 70, Act III. Beglückt Darf Nun Dich, O Heimat Ich Schauen (Pilgrim's Chorus). The offstage chorus accompanies the Wolfram & Tannhäuser seance at the start of Act III. All three arrangements drop the interlude and stay close to Wagner's voice, with bare unisons to « Der Gnade Heil ist dem Büsser beschieden » where the full orchestra has already entered. Dramaturgy : [ The singing represents the penitential journey of the pilgrims as they travel to and from Rome to receive absolution. The noble aspirations of penitents are embodied in this chant, which sings the praises of God's mercy and the peace obtained by those who repay the debt of their sins.] No words can describe the immense beauty and great richness of this music. It's not so much the chant that is sacred, it's the bond it creates between beings. « A musical patrimony is as rich at opera that in a symphony. Halleluja Halleluja in Ewigkeit, in Ewigkeit! *Richard Wagner*
Wonderful performance. Female chorus sings absolutely first class, indeed better than the male chorus, which seems lacking some stamina, volume and dynamics in the pilgrims chorus.
Capolavoro assoluto eseguito stupendamente!!! Grazie di questo meraviglioso crescendo!

Danke!
素敵な曲
Bravo!!
Viva la Tradición y viva Europa.
geniale la trascrizione di Listz
Maravilhoso
❤
Please tell me I missed something, but to see such a large chorus with no singers of color tells me it could have been better.
Oh stop with your righteous indignation to show how everyone how wonderfully woke and noble you are.
This is a German choir in Germany.
Wonderful performance. Female chorus sings absolutely first class, indeed better than the male chorus, which seems lacking some stamina, volume and dynamics in the pilgrims chorus.
Limpid, clear, imposing and superlative version !!
