  • Alrighty here's what i've been busy with. Forgive me for the window tag stuff up, i'll blame the fact that i've got the plague from my daughter from day care haha. Just goes to show you can use Revit for a long time and still not nail everything 100% the first go.
0:30 - some of the "stuff" i've found and how it looks
1:58 - adding a 3d handle to the basic door family
3:35 - modifying door and window tags
    8:18 - setting up sheets
11:00 - levels & how they work with schedules & locking them so they update easily
15:28 - a handy use of reference planes
17:17 - modifying dimensions (& what to be careful of when dimensioning)

Hi mate, do you have any videos on setting up topography from a survey plan?

hey mate, I have been using Archicad for a couple of years and I now need to learn Revit. Trying to do a template from scratch is becoming painful. Do you offer a template for purchase ? Cheers

      Hey Mate,
I don't offer any for purchase sorry, main reason being that a Revit template that's generic enough for everyone to use should be so easy to make it'd be rude to charge for and one that's specific to your companies needs would be so specific that no one else could really use it.
Is there anything in particular that you're having trouble with in making the template?

@@RevitSmart Ahh that’s ok. I’m just starting out myself. Can’t get any work for someone to learn the ropes near where I live (Coffs harbour area) and I’ve spent the last 3 years learning Archicad and spent countless hours doing up templates for that. Currently trying to learn Revit through UA-cam as I haven’t been able to find someone to tutor me for Revit. I get the general gist of it all but lack the knowledge or putting together all the views, and layouts. Archicad is much easier to use but I’ve found the only way I’ll get some work is to learn Revit. So was more looking for a head start with everything I need in there. If that makes sense

@@benhennessey8646 Ah cool, first thing you could try and do is measure up then draw up your own house (or wherever you live - unit/apartment etc) then once you've made a detailed model of that with all the sheets (site plan, floor plan, elevations, section, electrical, internal elevations of wet areas etc.) you can do a 'save as' as a template, delete everything then use that to start refining moving forward.
Additionally you'll have a set of plans to use as example work.
You could also find some random house on a real estate website that has a lot of photos and a floor plan and kinda wing it it based on that?

@@RevitSmart Ive been trying to redraw plans I’ve done on Archicad. Slowly getting there but get caught out on a few things. I’ll keep practicing with it. I watched the video part of you saying to always save your work. God I wish I took that more seriously. Lost hours of work yesterday lol.
