Tina Turner actually followed Bonnie Tyler. Tyler had simply the best out 2 years earlier.
While Bonnie Tyler is great in her own right, Tina famously said her insoirations vocally were mostly men - Sam Cooke, James Brown, Otis Reading and later songs by the rolling stones, Bruce Speingsteen etc. She wasn't really influenced by female singers as found her own voice to be more masculine.
