Man, you should have seen Neopets back in the early-mid 2000’s. It was almost all static HTML and had a staff of like 6 full-time people total, all from the UK, and boy howdy...they did not give a fuck about being kid-friendly. Hell, they didn’t give a fuck, period. There were like random events which could give you the best items in the game OR steal all of your Neopoints or best item *in your bank* OR straight up kill one of your Neopets in some gruesome way. Just by walking around. It was chaos. It was just one huge, trippy ass in-joke that the developers perpetuated seemingly for their own amusement, since this was back before they started doing sponsorship deals or digital currency shit. They weren’t making diddly squat for years, they just loved trolling and scaring the shit out of children on the internet under the guise of a cute fun video game that made absolutely no sense.

I played in 2003 before it had digital currency or anything of the sort, and while the parts about the items you'd get from events are true your pets would never die and your account *would get frozen for cussing on the forums or if your art for the weekly drawing contest was too risque.

Maybe my pet "Skezie" is still on there somewhere, idk. Somehow I still remember my first username (of course Nsync related) and my first pet's name: Pilafin. She was an Aisha and I genuinely adored her and was horrified when I went to move her to my new account using the adoption center trick and someone snatched her before I could. Thirteen year old me was literally heartbroken. I ran a bomb-ass guild too, lots of members and a good ranking. Ahh, thanks for the walk down memory lane, typing this giant ass novel was cathartic.

Damn, I made my Neopets account long ago when I was like 13. What a lovely shit it was, like, coming home from school and spending some hours playing in that platform daily, for like two years or some. Loved the diversity about places, mini-games, events, stories, misteries and stuff. Then it started to decline progressively and I started forgetting it out with time, entering the site with less and less frequency until I left it at some point I can't figure out. I'm 22 right now and after years of oblivion this shit just came out to my mind for apparently no reason, so I wanted to log in once again and search on the internet to see how are things going. Oh dude, the nostalgia, now that I think, my time in Neopets was one of the few good times I had during my teen age.
Goddamn, I logged into this website after, oh, 8 years? 8-9 years? Good lord, this was the SHIT back then. Now it's... not. Huh. Should I feel bad?

MONOTONY. xD It's not broken. It works like it was designed to. Spin it and then open a new tab and do something else while you wait. Not that hard. xD There's like 7 other wheels you can spin that only take 10 seconds if you're lazy. There's nothing wrong with the site, he just purposely picked some of the oldest/worst flash games and most boring features for comedic effect.

Man, you should have seen Neopets back in the early-mid 2000’s. It was almost all static HTML and had a staff of like 6 full-time people total, all from the UK, and boy howdy...they did not give a fuck about being kid-friendly.
Hell, they didn’t give a fuck, period. There were like random events which could give you the best items in the game OR steal all of your Neopoints or best item *in your bank* OR straight up kill one of your Neopets in some gruesome way. Just by walking around. It was chaos.
It was just one huge, trippy ass in-joke that the developers perpetuated seemingly for their own amusement, since this was back before they started doing sponsorship deals or digital currency shit. They weren’t making diddly squat for years, they just loved trolling and scaring the shit out of children on the internet under the guise of a cute fun video game that made absolutely no sense.

@@themagician3032 That's because they're lying. There's tons of videos on how neopets came to be and while it wasn't as kid friendly for like it's first year it was never as this person claimed it to be.
I played in 2003 before it had digital currency or anything of the sort, and while the parts about the items you'd get from events are true your pets would never die and your account *would get frozen for cussing on the forums or if your art for the weekly drawing contest was too risque.

Neopets used to be great, before the userbase exploded. The last time I used it was probably around 2002 and I literally couldn't do anything because the shops and what-not would sell out in 2 seconds. Even my own shop would sell out in 5 minutes. Then they banned my account for an inappropriate username when I hadn't even logged in in 5 years. The username? Skez. As in my childish nickname, Skezter. Maybe my pet "Skezie" is still on there somewhere, idk. Somehow I still remember my first username (of course Nsync related) and my first pet's name: Pilafin. She was an Aisha and I genuinely adored her and was horrified when I went to move her to my new account using the adoption center trick and someone snatched her before I could. Thirteen year old me was literally heartbroken. I ran a bomb-ass guild too, lots of members and a good ranking. Ahh, thanks for the walk down memory lane, typing this giant ass novel was cathartic.
