I'm totally digging this one. But then I am a sucker for Robin's voice not matter how he sings. Just so talented, all of them.

This is my first time to hear and see this ,I never thought they had made recordings of this kind also ,a little country in my humble opinion but it had already displayed Robin's unique and one of a kind voice..thank you sooo much Chad for the effort.

I love Vince's guitar on this song as well. He was definitely into blues. I'm not certain but the organ may be played by Robin on this one. He is credited with organ on this LP. He could get a rasp in his voice when he felt he wanted to but ballads were more his bag. I think this song just reached the demo stage hence the fade out. They had a lot of "out there" lyrics at this time and were still teens and Barry barely 20 so definitely some experimenting as you will hear if you do more from this time period. Thanks for delving into some obscure stuff. 👍

I love this song! Robin does such a wonderful job singing it. That's Vince's guitar work you're admiring. He preferred a more blues-y sound during this period. Thank you for reacting to this song! I would love to hear more of the early album cuts from the Bee Gees.

  • @Zeathree

Robin's voice was a lot more versatile than he gets credit for, especially in the 60's when they were doing a lot more experimentation and pushing the envelop with their sound. They kind of settled into their ballad-y sound in the early 70's until they shook things up with the Main Course album.

Thanks a lot. A treat. Too bad that this track was outtaked from the original album. Here Robin showed his crazy versatility whith that unleashed rendition. Love when he's pushing his voice to extremes. The guitar riff played by Vince is haunting and catchy. This track reminds pleasantly of early songs of The Animals : Robin's tone of voice and interpretation, the melodic structure, the organ played by Robin or Mo, etc.

Great song from the Beegees past. Robin's vocals are always recognisable even when sounding so different. Such talented guys to be able to do this. Love the song and the stand out guitar and organ. Maurice always looked dapper even at such a young age. Thanks for the photos Chad. Always love seeing them. Looking forward to the next one! Thanks x

Wow! This is a side of Robin we've never heard!! "I Cant See Nobody" comes closest. I agree - very "Midnight Special" lol! Nice analysis! I agree with the other people commenting that Robin was so versatile. Love this one- the producers should have left it on the album. Thank you for finding this one for us!❤❤❤

I've only listened to this song the, I think, three or four times I've listened to the entire album before. I just think I've never cared enough about it to give it much, if any, thought and I, certainly, never remember it. But, hearing it again in this video, I was, actually, really into it! That's not the first time it's taken a few or, sometimes, even, more listens to get into one of their songs; it's happened with so many of them before. And, here's, yet, another one! I love the upbeat, 🔥 sound of the music and Robin's amazing, 🔥 vocals in it! I love all of the different sounds of Robin's vocals throughout his career! Whether he sounded like a songbird or not, his voice always sounded absolutely amazing, which is crazy for me to say when it took me so long to get into it (or Robin at all, for that matter) after I first discovered the Bee Gees sometime in 2020. Thanks for getting my attention on this song and for a great start to this weekend's marathon! I look forward to seeing what other obscure old Bee Gees songs you react to this weekend!

Hi Chad, thank you so much for kicking of another Bee Gees weekend. What a song to start the weekend with. This one is a jam. Haven't heart this one in quite a while. The Bees Gees are so versatile, their style over the decades, from album to album, even from song to song on each album, alternating lead vocals, combing lead vocals, different harmonies and even their individual vocal change to whatever the song needs. As always, I really enjoyed your reaction Chad! Can I put in a request voor the song "When do I"? I might have requested this one in the past? Anyway have a great weekend everyone!😀

"Q" already mentioned it, but Vince's guitar does stand out. He definitely has blues chops. What an explosive vocal by our Robin. The way I understand it, they worked on this song in 1967 when putting together the "First" album, but it didn't make the cut. When the album was re-issued in 2006, this was one of the bonus songs included. Regardless, I really like it. I hear a Stones type of feel.

Nice to see the colour clip of Robin and Barry that was 1966 when they were flying a small Cessna aircraft in Australia for the official clip of Spicks and Specks the black and White clip is difficult to watch in some parts because of the shadows but hey it was 66

The Bee Gees were constrained by their label. Robin got sent to the outtake bin far too often. At least we have these glimpses of what could have been. Contrast with the Beatles who had the freedom to experiment and it’s easy to see why the Beatles refused to go with Stigwood after Bryan Epstein died.

I was excited to see you chose this one to react to, Chad! You are BY FAR the reactor who has delved the most deeply into the Bee Gees’ extensive catalog. Your channel is truly opening the eyes (ears?) of so many people to their incredible musical legacy - including mine! I too have learned a great deal about them in the past couple of years. The Beatles had always been my favorite band because of their incredible versatility - a song for just about every mood. But now I have to say that the Bee Gees are pushing them out of my #1 position - their versatility is staggering, and what’s more, never feels forced; they just ooze like liquid gold over every genre and make it their own.

Don't forget, the main influence on their music, as they've said many times, was OTIS REDDING.
Now play it again with that in mind.
    Thanks for sharing again.
