I think that's what Doug's saying in this too.
I'm Italian, so while I do am familiar with many of the toys and products he shows in the episode (especially Mighty Max, I am a collector and I almost have the entire collection), I didn't grew up with most of the commercials he shows, since we had our own commercials in Italy... but we did use to have that freaking Mentos commercial! It was on all the time! With the song and the tagline "Mentos - the freshmaker" in English! So yeah, Doug, you're right (12:25) it did use to be EVERYWHERE.

About that Trip It toy, we had something like that, back in the 70's. It had a little bell thing at the end and a part you stuck your foot through. It was nothing like the high priced thingie you guys have. I don't even know what it's called but I'm guessing it could be found at Kmart

***** UA-cam is Doug's secondary medium, though. Channel Awesome (formerly TGWTG) is his hub. It's not like with PewDiePie or Game Grumps. It's more like with Cinemassacre. While Doug and James Rolfe take awhile to get the views of a JonTron episode, it's because their major fanbase visits and watches their videos on their own websites. Which is actually more profitable, since you don't need to be a UA-cam partner. This is just frosting on his cake.

It is, but a million views is common for any major UA-cam video. Doug is actually bigger than simply a million views. I'm just pointing out that UA-cam isn't really where he makes his buck.

I have recently been to two different raves and let me tell you something, there is rarely room to use something like skip-it. Why do you think a lot of rave dances are all in the arms? There's no room to move the legs!

That's funny, the knock-off brand at my school was a lot crappier than the Tiger one. It was much lighter and that made it much harder to spin properly, it just kind of flailed around in the breeze and flew up into your knees and stuff.
They should make follow up toys for it called Rent-it and See-it!
