@@420bongking amen to that. to be self sufficient there is still plenty of work and organizing, the point is less like not doing any work and more like having a more direct say in the way things run and no arbitrary hierarchies
anarchism isn't about not having any work, industrialism or rules, it's about decentralising power where it can be achieved. Lots of institutions could be democratized further and state power reduced in the right conditions, anarchists push for those conditions. The idea of a world with no state, currency or capitalism is not something anarchists want for tomorrow, it's more like a hypothetical idea of what the world would look like centuries from now if we keep defending and pushing for more freedoms and equality.
@@420bongking i assumed he was like a 14 year old cause i also had that phase back then, but at least i wanted to put the argument out there for a neutral observer who is rarely exposed to actual anarchist perspectives. Anarchists are in this weird political camp where the actual academic and political theory is dwarfed by the punk aesthetic that defines it. People know what an anarchist looks like and know what general policies they might support but not why they support those policies, the larger framework anarchists use. It's a shame too because i would LOVE to hear people's thoughts on anarchist theory, how they would oppose it or what alternatives they might come to but nobody engages with it enough to get there. I'm not even an anarchist myself, im more of a traditional democratic socialist, but i think that if more people were exposed to anarchist arguments than 14 year olds wanting to be cool and edgy online would be harmless punks who at worst would argue for human rights in a stupid way rather than weirdo reactonaries playing dress up and denying the holocaust.
You could never have anarchy because it won't take long before someone can do something someone else can't and will need to ask for help. And some people can do things no one can do that everyone needs so to survive they will have to ask for their help. Soon enough everybody owes everybody something and boom, you have an economy. It's ignorant to think that anything else would happen if we started from scratch again.
Let this skit play out a bit longer and you'll have the same fucking social structures that has evolved over 10000 years. The idea of anarchism or communism is nothing more that a reset button, given human nature it will never stay the way any pseudo-intellectual who buys into that bullshit envisions it.
Does anyone else remember a skit where they do a similar thing to this? I thought it was WKUK, but maybe it was Key and Peele or some other comedy group. They basically take over something I think it was like the Occupy Wallstreet movement, and then they start planning how restructure the world and basically they make a government and police source and an economy and each time they do they say something like "we need a group of people who we vote for that can make the rules for everyone" and one guy goes, You mean like a government? and they all go no, no not a government. Been dying to find that one because it is crazy how much it mirrors reality right now.
@Random Account i think so but I can't remember what it was now lol. think maybe it had more to do with like setting up an econemy than a government but it basically plays out like that sketch from Rick and Morty at the end of the purge episode so guess that is a good enough example.

@@David22092001 You have it backwards. Anarchism imagines that everyone in society is just going to magically be friends in the absence of "hierarchy", which is nonsense on its face. It can't deal with people who are dickheads, or even people who aren't dickheads but just don't care to play along, without reneging on its basic premise and coming up with some form of government or police *but anarchist, we swear*.
Anarchists don't disagree with a division of labour - we just think factories etc. should be publically owned. Anarcho-Communists (the most popular type of anarchism, and the type this video seems to be satirizing - not that the writers of the sketch seem to have bothered to look into what anarchists believe) literally just want a stateless society where the proletariat has communal ownership of the means of production.
+Mike Horne Wouldn't this really only relate to primitive anarchists though? AnComs would agree with what was said in this video and AnCaps would just pay the guy to keep the reactor from going crazy.
Except AnCaps have the issue that they refuse to force anyone to pay, and so the burden falls squarely on those people who voluntarily pay - and those people are thus incentivized not to continue being AnCaps. If the burden is too great, you either suffer the collapse of the infrastructure (or in this case a meltdown), or you find a way to FORCE everyone to pay a share - and then we're back to conventional forms of government that enforce rule of law with the threat of sanction and violence.

im an anarchist and i agree, a lot of self proclaimed anarchists think the entire ideology is not doing work or shouting edgy stuff. makes me sad
@@puddleglum9179 youre talking to someone with a centurian wojak pfp, its a waste of time
@@420bongking i assumed he was like a 14 year old cause i also had that phase back then, but at least i wanted to put the argument out there for a neutral observer who is rarely exposed to actual anarchist perspectives.
But don'tchya know? Everyone will work for everyone for the greater common good! That's how humanity works, right? Right?

Dan Harmon was an Anarchist Rick is heavily based off Harmon (I.E. Rick is an Anarchist)
And thus capitalism is born
in this case it's more like socialism
Socialism would require a strong state, a free-market capitalism would not.
Titles like shirt inspector and shirt creator seem like the beginnings of a strong state.
No, they sound like the beginnings of a corporate structure.
Let this skit play out a bit longer and you'll have the same fucking social structures that has evolved over 10000 years. The idea of anarchism or communism is nothing more that a reset button, given human nature it will never stay the way any pseudo-intellectual who buys into that bullshit envisions it.
Probably the single most important video of our current time
Does anyone else remember a skit where they do a similar thing to this? I thought it was WKUK, but maybe it was Key and Peele or some other comedy group. They basically take over something I think it was like the Occupy Wallstreet movement, and then they start planning how restructure the world and basically they make a government and police source and an economy and each time they do they say something like "we need a group of people who we vote for that can make the rules for everyone" and one guy goes, You mean like a government? and they all go no, no not a government. Been dying to find that one because it is crazy how much it mirrors reality right now.
@Phillip not what I'm looking for, but also a good clip
@Random Account i think so but I can't remember what it was now lol. think maybe it had more to do with like setting up an econemy than a government but it basically plays out like that sketch from Rick and Morty at the end of the purge episode so guess that is a good enough example.

The best critique of anarchism I've seen so far and it still doesn't hold much water - they'd still be working wayyy less and enjoying free movies wayyy more with this minimalist government that essentially just keeps the nuclear power plant cool.
If it was longer they would have just kept going until they had a society pretty much resembling what we have now
I’m not an anarchist but I’ve always thought this was a bad critique since it was the previous state fault nuclear waste exists (which don’t get me wrong I think is a find trade off for the energy but it does lock us into that system)

theres some juicy shit in there
@@David22092001 You have it backwards.

I love how they reinvent the division of labor lol
I mean, division of labor in most places is still way more individual than it necessarily needs to be under our current system
@@crimsontanki they reinvent the capitalist division of labor
Anarchists don't disagree with a division of labour - we just think factories etc. should be publically owned. Anarcho-Communists (the most popular type of anarchism, and the type this video seems to be satirizing - not that the writers of the sketch seem to have bothered to look into what anarchists believe) literally just want a stateless society where the proletariat has communal ownership of the means of production.

LOL AnComs
/ancaps/anprims/an in general
