Whether you like RGB or not, knowing your options for controlling it on Linux is good. I got RGB fans because they were on sale and cheaper than non-RGB options. :) Great content, as always!
very epic intro 255/255

I'll just add 0377/0377 to the mix, just for fun. :D
First laugh out loud of 2025 on UA-cam! Doing a great job with the channel
Haha awesome! Thank you :-)
Cool, not really into configuring my devices, well only slightly and if I need to. Your SONG sounds cool, tho, happy New Years…🥰⭐️💎
Fair enough, thanks! Happy New Year :)
Been needing to get around to learning this one for awhile now. TYVM Bread! :)
Don’t normally opt for rgb products, but happy to see support for others
Thank you. The video was very informative, especially where it comes to installing the plugin. I am running MX Linux based on Debian 12 "bookworm" and it located exactly where the .so plugin file that I downloaded for the 64-bit version of Debian 12 "bookworm" without me having to go searching and doing it manually. I like the way that you have setup sections of your video(s) so that it is easy to locate what your looking for. In my case, "How to install plugins manually." Really nice. Keep up the great work you're doing on your channel.
This is incredible tool. This tool shares a lot of functionality with home assistant but it aims specificaly rgb while home assistant can do much more.
I've used this for the last several years to turn OFF rgb except a low brightness white on my keyboard & mouse. It has been a godsend
I will have to keep this in mind. Since I started assembling/upgrading my own machine, I have avoided most RGB components because they are generally more expensive. I disable motherboard RGB in the bios settings, so the only thing that lights up on my current machine is the video card logo. But, I wouldn't be surprised if there is less price difference as time goes on and sales make RGB components the occasional best choice.
Great setup! Thanks!
awesome setup!
Absolutely LOVE OpenRGB. I have a shortcuts on my phone that will turn on/off the RGB for my computer, room lights, and floor mat (yes, I have a RGB rug. Don't ask, it was a gift 😆) The only real problem that I still seem to have is support for the Logitech 915, isn't the best, but that's because Logitech in general has a horrible interface. Took me forever to figure out the USB device name and IDs changes depending on if it's plugged in, or being used wireless, and I had to make two different profiles.
All this and I only ever use it as a nightlight. My entire setup is 3 colors. Blue, white and off.
OpenRGB is Great its funny when I looked for info originally on how to setup openrgb on Linux there really aren't that many videos or at all really . Keyboard Visualiser is great and again all that was there was from the developer.
nearly all my rgb is supported the tricky bit was getting my corsair rgb ram to work which needed some fiddling with i2c-bus and modules.
The only thing you missed was how to setup i2c modules to get rgb ram and gpu lighting to work
Been using it on few of my distros
It is simple and good.
Good tip
Awesome :-)
I'm glad what you said. "I Hate windoz as well !!!" I have an LIFX light bulb, so this is great!
I have been using OpenRGB for years. I using mainly to control my desktop lighting. My mouse and headset are Corsair but I turn the lighting off. My keyboard is a Wooting HE analog switch that using hall effect keys. I use that software for controlling the switching sensitivity and RGB lighting.
Holy crap at the start of the video! ))) Not bad!
Happy new year.🐧
Happy New Year! 🐧
Quick question do you work in IT or is Linux a hobby for you?
so that's how you get it to work on msi, wow. also white rgb profiles are the coolest, definitely far from boring
Great video as always! What digital audio software do you use?
Thanks! LMMS
Creating cooler and cooler vids, awesome!
Website release when?
My msi x870 board is not supported yet but ive been able to use an arduino nano to control my case fans through an fastled lib script. It plugs into a usb header with power being injected via psu. Then able to connect it in the serial devices under adalight. Only problem is the usb port changes sometime on reboot and i have to set it up again. Good program, some issues with crashes, especially using the vmap plugin.
Had an issue with my one of my ram sticks light being detected and an asus motherboard and it stopped lighting up. Even going back to windows, it wasnt working. Before i used the ardiuno, was messing around to get the port to show up, i changed permissions for all tty devices and ran open rgb. Was able to fix it by powering off the computer for a while. I heard others having this same problem but they never got it working again. I reverted the permissions and went back to the stable version, dont want to brick my brand new motherboard just for rgb lol.
Not my cup of tea but that looks awesome. And even more awesome that you can do it on linux. Go Arch!
great vid ty
I figured I was done with windows......and yes lights are back on. Using autounattend while installing windows is handy for gaining what control is possible for windows. Unfortunately simple fixes aren't simple on linux. Guess I'm keeping a install of windows in the background for such times.
Happy New Year 🎊🎊❤
Likewise! 🎉
wow, finally turned off the useless and annoying rgb on my razor mouse, you saved my sanity , thank you.
Awesome glad to hear! No prob
Hey Bread! Very nice video, I'm using OpenRGB for over a year and still learned a thing or two. Thanks! Also - do you mind sharing with us why your screens are so high? Most tutorials are telling to line up top frame with eye level, yet your bottom frame is higher than that. Any particular reasons? Happy new year btw :)
Thank you!
Higher monitors will prevent neck/back issues down the line - I moved them higher a few years ago, and found that my posture became significantly better since then.
Happy New Year! :)
You make music too? So cool.
Rounded corners on DWM seems all sorts of wrong.
LOL you have a point...
@@BreadOnPenguins Wow, sharp...
I'm tempted to play around with this. I have some RGB in my desktop but I keep it turned off.
assumption checks out here!
Been using OpenRGB for a while now, but one thing I struggle with is it not automatically loading a preset on OS startup. It does it with some DEs (either KDE Plasma or Cosmic, maybe both, can't remember) but not with, e.g. Hyprland. So on the latter I need to click 'load' on every boot into my EndeavourOS. I saw that CLI command used in the video, and that has given me hope that if I add that to my Hyprland config as exec-once, it may work.
WE NEED THE MUSIC
Your videos are great. Please try to lower your 'erms' and 'ums' though :). Instead of saying erm, just pause for a second and you'll sound more confident and knowledgeable :D. You seem to say 'erm' at the start of every sentence. Pause, take a breath, and you'll sound better :).
My Razor mouse showed up the first time, but never again afterwards. Very strange.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Like now pls, we need that 1 quintillion ASAP 😬😬
I was running arch with 4 razor peripherals openrgb only saw 2 of the four. After unistalling two went dead. I used timeshift to return to my base install, still dead no rub. Now I'm installing windows so razor can hopefully turn the lights back on. Then I will install arch again. Oh joy!
K70 core rgb.. Openrgb doesn't see it. Nor does it see my ASROCK 7900xtx taichi.. Suggestions, support?
openRGB is very cool but for my keyboard an Epomaker TH80 pro I tried the package from Arch, from Flathub and the official Appimage and it didnt detect it, despite being apparently supported, so I still had to use a windows VM to change the RGB on it lmao
Hey do you have a Odysee channel as well by any chance?
What compositor are you using?
Picom, will probably make a video at some point :)
@@BreadOnPenguins Thanks! That'd be great
RGB FOR MINECRAFT GAMING ON GNU/LINUX 😱😱😱 THATS LIKE USING MINECRAFT COLOR DYES ON MINECRAFT TORCHES AND MINECRAFT LANTERNS 😱😱😱
IKR!!! OR JUST PUTTING STAINED GLASS IN FRONT OF THE LIGHT SOURCE
Honestly, it got better, but it still never worked for me.
What a g lol
lol 10 minute video on rgb and at the end: "i hate rgb". Luckily my poor optiplex only does white on the power button.
RGB? No thx, I always turn this shit off.
RGB is analogous to having pinstripes or a custom paint job on a car it servers no practical purpose. It's just eye candy.
@bradleyp3655 Thank you captain obvious
@dionostando same. Just wasting watts for no reason.
@@softwarelivre2389 It even looks terrible.
@@bradleyp3655 I thought pinstripes make the car go faster 🤣
