Fun fact: the traitor reveal was supposed to happen during the forest training arc. You got a big hint when Dabi saw Aoyama hiding and didn't say anything. It was supposed to be a thing where the audience knew who the traitor was but the characters in universe didn't. Horikoshi's editor told him not to do that.
This why gentle criminal was an important “villan” for the narrative of one crime doesn’t make you a villan thing. The people deku has fought have all taught him lessons to grow. The episode was more emotional than in the Manga they did a good job. An also you could see navel lasers family in the all for one vs allmight fight wishing he was taken down only family they show
Eh I wasn’t even emotional for this episode since I don’t care about Aoyama nor like him.
@@Sachi10007 Good for you 🫡
@@Sachi10007 The way we think is quite alike. However, I personally would take it a step further, and claim this episode was mid. I would also claim that the two reveals was a little half-baked.
@@Sachi10007 who asked you?
@@Johnithinuioian oh go watch attack on titans or some real mid shit i bet you love
19:17 - Yeah, a point of Deku's development is that he initially saw things more black and white for the line between heroes and villains, but really starting since he met a low level Gentle Criminal he felt bad about how the situation ended since Gentle wasn't a really a bad guy even if he was a criminal. Then with Lady Nagant showing the lines even more blurred with the hero society even having their own level of corruption. With Aoyama situation especially, Deku has a more personal reason to be empathetic because he could have been in situation like that being quirkless as a kid.
We finally have our traitor reveal. Btw, the line, "I have friends to spare" with the closeup shot of Invisible Girl actually was the end of a chapter in the manga. Some people thought she was the traitor because of that. While other people thought she was actually looking at the traitor. I was in that second group. But boy was it a chaotic wait. I also love how Touya just does not care at all for AFO's rants or talking. It doesn't seem like anyone from the League likes him very much. Which makes sense. They all came together to work with Shigaraki. Not AFO. So he's basically a stranger to them that is now trying to hold the reins. An outsider, if you will.
*I can’t be mad at Aoyama if I’m being honest. He didn’t want or choose for any of this to happen. I can’t call Aoyama a villain since he basically had a gun to his head the whole time.*
yeah AFO had a vice grip on him most his time as a hero.
I’m just gonna say it, Aoyama doesn’t deserve to be imprisoned for this. He’s a kid who was forced into a situation where he had the choice of doing what he was told or dying with his parents. I know there’s consequences and stuff, but like, I’m with Midoriya and the class here.
Honestly, one of the saddest things about Ayoma's characterization is that literally everything written about him is based on realizing/acknowledging that he's a Gilderoy Lockheart. And Horikoshi writes in such a "You get it, right? Yeah!" way that he is both absurdly obvious, but in a way that most people assume against his points because its "too cliche".
Ayoma recieved BUCKETS of characterization in the first season, far more than his immediate role in the story deserved. He was literally the narrator for the UA exams, explaining the exams, the motivations of students, and Recovery Girl and her role at the school. And then during Eraserhead's first day test, our boy gets first billing positioning, standing with and talking with the main characters (Bakugou, Iida, Uraraka) more than any other supporting character. "Can't Stop Twinking" spoke more in the first season than Todoroki.
Ngl I completely forgot about the whole traitor thing.
Another great episode
16:38 it’s 20% of the world yea but quirklessness gets rarer with each generation
So most of tht 20% is older people
good point
